Away from the unfortunate spitgate, how lovely it was to benefit from a goalkeeping howler after some of what we've endured in the past couple of seasons; the result today hinged on the outcomes of similar fumbles by both Martin and Kinnear in that goalmouth in either half. Thankfully both went for us today, representing that wee bit of luck which seems to have evaded us at key moments for a while now. These boys have now done it all - pasted the league leaders, ground out wins home and away, in big games and tough conditions - so hopefully they can maintain it next week against a Spartans side that's on a poor old run at the moment.

You'd have to say that Bonnyrigg aren't looking too hot, and that's putting it rather politely; just one win in their last twelve league games, and that came in a midweek home game against Elgin - at the time, perhaps the assignment in the division. Theirs is a squad lacking quality in key areas and they'll have to turn the corner very quickly to save themselves - two points in eight games is truly horrendous form in such a nip and tuck league and a repeat of this will surely see them waving bye-bye to League Two.
Stranraer seem to have the capacity to pull the odd win out of the hat, and I think that may well see them safe if they manage to avoid defeat against Bonnyrigg in two weeks' time; that's beginning to look like an absolutely gigantic game for both sides, with another to follow the week later when they visit Clyde.
Clyde themselves continue to be a tad unconvincing with a soft centre persisting, alongside a complete inability to keep clean sheets; it's hard to ignore the recent turnaround in form, however, and of the three sides the momentum is clearly with them.
It's going to be a captivating end to the season as things cement themselves further up the table; I can't shake the feeling that some of the sides from 1st to 7th are going to play a big part in this scrap at the bottom whenever affairs are settled up there, not dissimilar to when the house robots go rogue in Robot Wars.

It's really poor from Scullion and I can see it being more than a few games that he's banned for, which is a pity as he's turned into a really handy wee player for us. The uproar from some Bonnyrigg folk about him spitting is quite funny when it's only in response to being spat at first, but he shouldn't really have been drawn in to going over to their fans in the first instance, never mind retaliating to the initial spit (seriously, what on earth compels someone to do that?!). Hopefully he will get off relatively lightly and learn from it going forward.

That was a seriously gutsy performance; the team has rightly been questioned for their prior efforts in games like that but, to a man, they stood up and battled away in wretched conditions this afternoon. A massive result, and no less than we merited over the piece.

Utterly inexplicable from Hamilton for the goal. I'd say we have edged it since but it's not pretty, as expected.

It's going to be *so* bad that I would probably even go with a Howie-Hamilton-Sula-Dunachie defence, if the latter became available. Set pieces are going to be absolutely massive and our recent record with them at both ends - but especially our own - leaves a lot to be desired, while Kinnear isn't the man you want for an aerial onslaught. Hopefully McCall packs the midfield, as Bonnyrigg are piss weak there.

The only league games we had on grass last season were against Dunfermline [and Peterhead], so while it's a terrible stat, it's skewed a bit by that. My bigger concern is that the condition of the pitch will make next week's game a downright battle, in addition to it being hugely important; two types of games these players have amply proven that they struggle with. If fitness permits, Howie in for Lyon and Cuddihy in for Leitch would be the changes I'd make for this one, to try and get as much physicality in the team as possible.

No doubt there's still a deeply worrying and quite severe mental fragility at times, and the mounting pressure won't help that, but our last diabolical second-half performance against Forfar was followed up with two straight wins. It's a big ask, but the same again would have us within striking distance of two teams. I get the fatalism, especially after tamely chucking away a lead yet again, but to matter of factly state that it's over is quite simply a nonsense. What it is, however, is another big blow, one which really makes a win a complete necessity in at least one of our next two games (if I had to pick one, next week's would be my preference). Failure to get within 4 points after the Spartans game and then it'll really be time to mentally check out.

You've been saying this every week for about eight weeks now. If things stay as they are and we manage to beat Bonnyrigg next week, we will be three points behind them with seven games left. If we lose next week and end up eight points adrift of both them and Stranraer, then it'll be terminal.

That's bitterly disappointing, things were looking really good for us at half time. Still, not terminal, and a defeat against the second-most-form side away from home isn't ostensibly too much of a disgrace. Makes next week's game massive though.

Lee Hamilton really is just a bit silly, isn't he? Obvious player of the year after just ten games. Goodwillie aside, I can't remember the last time a signing made such an immediate and significant impact.

Definitely a lingering sense that we have left it a wee bit too late; the Peterhead game in particular might yet come home to roost, but there's no denying the general improvement of late. A good few players had poor games by their recent standards and yet we still managed to crawl over the line; hopefully this can be another turning point for them, in terms of the must-wins. As much as Kabia doesn't offer nearly as much as Scullion defensively, he came on and completely transformed that game for us. Hopefully his hamstring will be strong enough for him to be fit to start against Forfar next week; his use of the ball was peerless from his introduction and that cross for the winner was a thing of beauty. Credit to Jordan Allan as well who probably wouldn't have taken that strike for the first on a few weeks ago. Full of confidence at the moment and long may that continue.

In our last nine games, we've faced each side in the league; three wins, three draws, three losses. Much-improved form, no doubt, but the losses were all ruinous six-pointers against Elgin, Stranraer and Forfar. If we're to stand a chance of avoiding the play-off then we need to take points off these sides in the next quarter; we've seen ample evidence now that it's a mentality thing and not a quality thing in these fixtures, so hopefully that big win at the weekend instils some belief and swagger in them ahead of what will be a very tough game, in spite of Elgin's poor away record. Howie back in for Sula if he's fit but other than that, no changes please (maybe Kabia in for Scullion if he's fit).

I'm still finding it very hard to conceive of what I witnessed this afternoon; though our situation remains precarious, it's one of those days that makes you glad you bother, in spite of all logic or reason. 2-1 would've been a dream result, but to experience the cadence of comfort that the second-half goal glut brought was something quite extraordinary. I just pray that this marks a turning point for what has been a fragile group thus far. As much as Stenhousemuir are hitting a sticky run with an injury or two, we must draw enormous confidence from this.

That Martin Rennie pinger is better than Viagra, btw. I'm in the Station Bar still trying to batter it down. Midnight goals (although a long haul) are going to be glorious for those who stayed away today.

Jordan Allan today was everything we were missing in midweek. Ross Meechan just could not handle him. While 6-1 flattered us, and everything seemed to go in, there can be no argument about us deserving victory today. Sula was excellent and showed why he should've been starting midweek, Lyon acquitted himself very well too. But Allan was the one that made everything tick; I thought "here we go again" as his shot for the second goal hit the inside of the post, but he got the piece of luck he deserved and tucked away the rebound. He was immense today, along with so many of them.
This means nothing if we don't build on it, though. The Clyde backing - though (understandably) a bit reduced in number - was terrific today, even when we went behind. Hopefully this can be a turning point for players and fans and we can start to believe a bit.
White kit every week now, please.

It's nigh on impossible to tell from that angle, but Bonnyrigg's number 22 was looking straight at it and I think he'd have had much more to say if it was either a foul or a handball by Allan. As you say, we've been unlucky in recent times to our detriment (those Forfar goals, the nonsense Peterhead penalty) so we were due some good fortune, however it came about.
