A Photographic History Of Scottish Football
LiviLion replied to Mon Dieu's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
A couple different threads over the last few days for me I've clicked the next page and it's just been a repeat of the same page I was on; click back to the previous page and it's completely different. Assuming it's just some weird bug with the forum (@Div using Chrome FWIW) and not my sanity on the way out. -

Away to the Celtic in the cup, our reward for getting this far for the first time since 2005 (?) is a pumping. At least there will be some dosh for us. Suppose we'd reached the end of the clear winnable ties; Morton at home (away would give me the fear) was probably the only one you'd be confident with, so a pay day isn't to be sniffed at. Hopefully Celtic are still in a bit of disarray, the poor wee souls, and we've picked up a good bit of form to make it interesting. -

Purely for the sake of moaning about something, can we just send McGovern back to Hearts? I don't care if Hamilton isn't fit yet, surely whoever plays for our reserves/U18s isn't as bad as McGovern. Nothing he could do for the first goal but the second he booted it straight at their attacker - not the only time he done that either - and then the shot goes underneath him at his near post, woeful. That's before you think about the crosses he flapped at. On a more positive note, much much better to see us fighting and picking heads up. First half was a bit of a shit show all round, was hoping for Nouble to get subbed at half time but then he came out his old self in the second half to make me look a right tit. Definitely at his best out wide when he can run at defenders, and Tete was a handful as well. I'm feeling dangerously positive about our chances of dragging ourselves into a proper fight to stay up, I'm sure it'll be shattered when we get news that Donnellan and somehow MacKay are out for the rest of the season. -
Had to laugh at Jonathan Sutherland opening up the Partick Thistle v Livi analysis with a desperate attempt to talk about VAR, as if having it would have stopped our first goal. Does the fucking idiot think it would have changed the corner decision? Weird that that was his main VAR topic (in a game that didn't have it) and not the goal we had ruled out that looked fine, or the clear handball we should have had a penalty for. They might well have talked about them later but I turned off pretty quick, very good reason I like to skip the "analysis" and just catch the highlights and interviews.

Aye, Thistle have got absolutely everything all day. Not that it makes any difference, when McGovern is doing shit like that
-
State of this pitch btw, cracking advert for plastic I haven't seen much of Thistle this season but isn't their whole thing that they get it out wide and cut it back for a Graham tap in? No clue why we're set up to give them so much time out wide, infuriating. Even worse that our RB and LB are covering more centrally with Nouble and MacKay going to the winger with the ball, means that if we do get it back we've not really got a counter attack. TL;DR: Shite.
-
Aye, already played for Caley in the cup. Much better than him being injured!
-
Michael McGovern in goals to give Thistle a 2 goal head start. Rest of the line up looks fine I think, though I do think it's pointless having both Nouble and Yengi starting, interested to see how it goes.
-
^^^ never seen a Livingston player take a penalty
-
No idea who's fit, only know that Carson is cup tied and Montano is still injured. Assuming everyone else is available: George Brandon - Donnellan - Obileye - Penrice Holt - Pittman MacKay - Kelly - Nouble Anderson I wouldn't mind seeing Yengi start again though, but I probably wouldn't have him on at the same time as Nouble; and it would purely depend on us not lumping long balls up to Anderson if/when he came on. Main reason for starting Anderson would be having Yengi to come on when we tire and just start launching it. Looking forward to this, a good break from our record breaking bad form in the league. Hoping we don't embarrass ourselves.

Nations League Draw (Thursday 5pm)
LiviLion replied to Pie Of The Month's topic in Tartan Army Ramblings
Half decent shot at 2nd if we play our cards right, very aware that's optimistic but no reason to rule it out completely. -
If you come back a third time and try a wee bit harder you might get some bites, but it would look a bit desperate
-
All the subs have IMO, Sangare and Shinnie aren't wingers and aren't as far forward as MacKay and Bradley were. Martindale does Martindale things though
-
Bring Anderson on then exclusively launch it high, get fucked
-
Yep, used to be pretty decent, this is my first time hearing the new duo and it's a difficult listen.
-
Our commentary team don't half waffle some shite btw, when did it get so bad?
-
That would be much better than the back 5 option; Yengi being the target for long balls and the 3 behind him trying to feed off what he wins. Hopefully.
-
I must have missed Penrice being suspended/injured, he'll be a big miss. Hasty edit because I somehow missed Brandon in the line up, going to assume that's a back 3 of Obileye, Nottingham, and Donnellan with Brandon and MacKay wing backs; Holt and Carson sitting midfielders with Bradley and Pittman ahead of them and Yengi up front. Can't see it going well.

What a rollercoaster of emotions that was, thinking we'd maybe have a chance against a depleted Killie team then being reminded that their emergency backups are Greg Stewart and Kevin Van Veen. Hopefully the County result last night can spur the team on to putting in a good shift, is it too optimistic to think Martindale could go with a 4-2-3-1 from the start? George Brandon - Donnellan - Obileye - Penrice Holt - Sangare MacKay - Kelly - Nouble Anderson You could really pick a few players to take the midfield spots, Carson or Shinnie could be in there instead of Sangare depending on what Martindale is looking for. Personally would go for Sangare as he's looked somewhat decent in his few minutes at LCB and LWB so I'd be content with him in a wee space there if Penrice is attacking up the wing, but Carson looked alright from what I watched of our game at the weekend. Wee bit gutted I can't make it along to this but I'm sure I'll be over it when Killie are 2 up before half time.

Motherwell v Ross County (7:45pm Tue, 6th Feb)
LiviLion replied to Sonam's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
It's like he's seen how Warnock is being treated by the media for coming in to give Aberdeen a boost until the end of the season, and is deluding himself into thinking he's doing the same. -
Dundee vs. Hearts - 3/2/2024
LiviLion replied to RossBFaeDundee's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
I think some players do to an extent, seen a couple of players hit the byline and instead of drilling the ball across they'll just give it a wee dink up towards the defender's side. Ends up in either a penalty or the ball just harmlessly cleared. -

This is where I'm at, not expecting anything other than 12th, but still get the odd wee twinge of optimism that we'll go on a good run and keep ourselves up. The play-offs are less daunting after our SC win against Raith, but that would probably just make it hurt more. -
Rangers v Livingston: 3rd Feb @ 3pm
LiviLion replied to AJF's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
My stream froze up just before the cross went in for their first so I've only just seen it back now. Obviously there's no guarantee that they don't score shortly after anyway, but if the referees aren't cheating incompetent, then there's a good chance we go into the break at 0-0 and can regroup again. Don't really think we'd have held on for the full 90 in any case, but every point is a prisoner and a draw at Snake Mountain would have been a decent base for some momentum. -

Going to pop a stream of this on the TV and just turn it off when we go behind. Haven't fully decided what I'll be doing after 3:07pm
