  1. Was that our defence standing completely still? Even a nose offside not enough to save Nottingham's embarrassment
  2. I'm fully on board our banter saga and all for him taking over if Martindale steps down. Managed to convince myself he'd have a good season with us then jump ship somewhere like Hibs/Aberdeen/Hearts, and lose the plot when nothing goes right. However he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who's ego would let him manage in the Scottish Championship.
  3. Didn't even look at the rest of the team after I saw McGovern in goals. First shot on target is a goal, at least our defence have been top class this season.
  4. Michael McGovern Martindale not even pretending to take this seriously.
  5. There are already FIFA standards, which artificial pitches are tested against when laid and throughout the season.
  6. How much are the SPFL offering in compensation to cover the cost of anyone needing to change their pitch, along with additional maintenance costs and lost income from being able to rent it out? Anyone who actually thinks plastic pitches make any difference is being deliberately stupid
  7. That save is hilarious. Folk will be having a laugh thinking back on it for a long time, Kipre being a proper villain for one set of fans, a hero for another, and otherwise providing a funny clip for the rest. All emotion of that moment would be completely lost with the fun-vacuum of VAR taking a lengthy check, and QPR fans would have been robbed of just how good their equaliser afterwards must have felt.
  8. Only if we happen to take the lead with the last kick of the ball, so Martindale can't actively try to throw it away. No point really looking too much into this, would like to see us set up to have a go but no chance Martindale doesn't try to sit back and nick a goal on the counter. Can't wait for the impending 5-4-1 with some batshit selection like Nouble at wing back or Nottingham up front. Seeing as we're most likely sticking out a back 5, I'd like to see Yengi and Anderson both starting, at least give us a slight attacking edge: George Brandon - Nottingham - Obileye - Devlin - Montano Shinnie - Holt - Carson Yengi - Anderson
  9. Obviously relegation clauses, any contract extensions, and general cost-cutting could change this, but I think this looks like a decent starting point for the Championship. At the very least there's a workable starting 11 there if you put Welch-Hayes at CB, Sangare at LB, and Kelly out wide for Pittman in the attacking mid role.
  10. Think English fans in general seem to always do it, weird as f**k.
  11. Someone had to do it. Points dropped from a winning position: 7 Additional points dropped after 80 minutes: 3 (special mention to Hearts 1-0 Livingston not making the cut with the winner on 79) And for balance, points gained from a losing position: 3 (notably all against Ross County/St Johnstone) Additional points gained after 80 minutes: 0
  12. I'd like to see Ledingham and Culbert getting some minutes before the season's out, most likely once it's mathematically confirmed that we're down. Ledingham has been in and out of the squad all season and Martindale has spoke about how much he rates him (though who knows - maybe he just wanted someone to make an offer), and I'm sure he also mentioned that he wanted Sam Culbert to play some minutes against Partick Thistle but that plan went out the window when we gave them a 2 goal head start. Seeing the first products of our youth system coming into the first team for a long time would at least hopefully inject a bit of excitement for us heading into next season.
  13. Must have missed the posts from Livi fans full of delightful praise. Of course we're furious, but I really hope you see the irony in the first part of this. Both teams were doing the exact same thing yesterday, minus the extent of time-wasting obviously, but even then the game was that slow that every throw-in at 0-0 was taking ages anyway. Yet you've got some St Johnstone fans here making it out that if it wasn't for big bad Livi they'd have been playing neat, exciting, gorgeous passing football. Both sets of players were throwing themselves to the ground at any slight contact, it was obvious it was going that way when the ref was giving a foul for it just about every time. St Johnstone have their share of the blame for the quality of yesterday's game, but as you said yourself club bias can be strong and too many folk (grown adults btw) fully believe that everything their team does is perfectly fair and reasonable/justifiable/correct, while the opposition are always just at it
  14. Here was me thinking that was two shite teams with no interest in "playing football" and just taking full advantage of a shite ref Even more raging at Martindale that we've missed out on watching St Johnstone's prime-Barca style of football
  15. *Pretends to be shocked* Sangare and Brandon coming on for Montano and Shinnie made a bit of sense. Sangare at LB and Brandon as attacking mid made absolutely no sense. Even if we somehow scraped enough points to stay up, it would be completely in spite of Martindale's genuinely baffling decisions.
  16. Dreadful game that picked up a tiny bit after the goal. Not confident at all that we'll hold on, can see us coming out second half and just trying to sit back. That pitch is dangerous.
  17. Can see fans of both teams are unable to contain their excitement for this one. Craig Levein and St Johnstone choosing the perfect time to (appear to) get their act together. We're finished in this league but until it's mathematically confirmed we'll probably pick up the odd draw or win to make it seem like we can go on a run; hopefully get one of those here but who knows (I do, we won't). Fun fact: the only time I've seen Livi win at McDiarmid Park was the Challenge Cup final against Alloa. I've never seen Livi score against St Johnstone in Perth. Where's the best place to get parked?
  18. Who plays for our U18s? There's no chance they could be any worse than McGovern, who's first action last night was to pass it to a Motherwell player. They might not actually be good but I really don't see how they could do worse than McGovern.
  19. Start the game with a very attacking set up, get a goal after 3 minutes. Even had a couple moves after that goal as well. Shocked and appalled at how well things were going Martindale then shites himself and changes it to a back 3 and just tries to soak up pressure with Nouble at wing back and aimless long balls up to Anderson - because it worked so well for us for the first 6 months of the season. Our defence isn't anywhere near good enough to try and be hard to beat, we should have stuck with the back 4 and tried for another goal, would much rather get pumped when we're actually trying to be positive than being as negative as that and, erm, still getting pumped. Most grating thing was being 3-1 down, heading into stoppage time, and just making wee cute short passes across the defence, what fucking chance have you got.
  20. Looks like Vale coming on at HT for Motherwell. Every time I've seen him play he's faked a head knock so I'm fully to have a full blown meltdown if/when he does it tonight
  21. We don't have a choice tbh, our options at CB other than him are currently: Mikey Devlin - shite Sean Kelly - shite Michael Nottingham - slightly less shite Shaun Donnellan - injured Mo Sangare - looked okay at LCB/LWB in a back 3, not convincing at LB in a 4 and probably not great as a CB in one Calan Ledingham - 11 years old Drop Obileye and we're starting both Devlin and Nottingham in the same back line, no thank you.
