  1. Off to Athletico Madrid v PSV next Wednesday in the Champions League. In & out in 2 days.
  2. Booked flights for Madrid in November to go and see Athletico v PSV in the Champions League. Fly in on the Wed, fly home on Thurs. £61 return.
  3. Off to Shellbourne v Falkirk this Saturday. Quickest close season ever, as I got home from the Euro's last Tursday.
  4. Just booked flights for Shelbourne v Falkirk, pre season. Fly in and out on the same day.
  5. Correct! The other one was one of Rapid Vienna after being annexed by the Germans at the start of the 2nd World war.
  6. On a slightly different note, I think their is only 3 European clubs that have won their respective championships and have not actually been members of that country. It's an old question, but keeps on popping up every now and again.
  7. Liverpool & Notts Forest, the season Forest won the cup.
  8. I was at the game as well with my 5 mates. Thought Fulham started off quite well and were the better team up until Brighton got the penalty. Fulham then fell apart. Transport by train down to the game was a joke and we ended up getting in 4 minutes before Ko. My 2nd time at the stadium, and other the An the transport, it's a tidy stadium, ready for the premier league.
  9. Back from Newcastle v Crystal Palace yesterday. Palace played reasonably well and missed a penalty, that no one in the stadium other than the ref knew what it was for. Townsend scored a peach from a 25 yard free kick for Newcastle. Full house and a great result for the Toon. Just got the feeling Palace had one eye on the cup final.
  10. Just got 2 tickets for the missus and me for the North West Derby match in the USA. Portland Timbers v Seattle Sounders in July. Alas, had to pay way over the odds to get them.
  11. All going well, I'll be going to Omiya Ardija v Kashiwa Reysol in the J league this Feb and with some luck Portland Timbers v LA Galaxy in the MLS is summer.
  12. Stuttgart 3 v Wolfsburg 1 last weekend. Great game and result for VFB considering they were bottom of the Bundesliga. Security was a nightmare prior to the match with everyone of the 47343 crowd being hand searched. This looks like being the norm for all big games in the future. Nice wee touch from VFB at the end when they gave out free bars of chocolate to their supporters wishing them all the best for 2016.
  13. Cheers. Still a possibility of seeing Stuttgart Kickers v Osnabruck depending on what time it kicks off as well.
  14. Was in Istanbul last week and had a look at Besiktas's new stadium being built. It was supposed to be up and running this season, but absolutely no chance. I'd be surprised if it's ready for next season. Still, when it is ready it'll be the dog's donads.
  15. Can anyone tell me when the dates for the final two round of fixtures before the winter break might be announced. I was quite surprised to see the fixture last being fixed for as far ahead as it was. A few of us are heading to Stuttgart v Wolfsburg on the last weekend before the break.
  16. FC Basel v Fiorentina in Europa league, late November.
  17. Booked up for Stuttgart v Wolfsburg in December, and am in the process of trying to get a ticket for Besiktas v Fenerbache in September. Proving a wee bit more hassle getting Turkish tickets.
  18. Was at the Rapid Vienna 2 v Ajax 2 game last week in Vienna. Got a shock when I saw Wullie Gollum was refereeing and true to his form, he sent a Rapid player off. Cracking game with Ajax being 2 up at the break (should have been 5). However, Rapid pulled a quick goal back and then went down to 10 men after a lunatic lunge at an Ajax player. Looked bad at the time, but even worse when I saw it later. Rapid then managed a 2nd goal and hung on to the end. Nearly 43,000 at the game and it was moved to the National stadium due to the large crowd. Surprised that Ajax only brought about 500 fans with them. Their was also a massive police presence in the city due to the Ajax fans reputation.
  19. Am heading over for Stuttgart v Wolfsburg on 18th December. Historically, does this fixture sell out?
  20. Off to Drogheda v Falkirk pre season next Saturday. Have also booked flights to Stuttgart in December and hoping to take in Stuttgart v Wolfsburg.
  21. Off to Rome this weekend with the guys and are off to see Roma v Atalanta.
  22. Went to see Legia Warsaw against Piast Gilwice on Saturday night. Technically good game with Legia winning 2-0. Mental fans behind the goals at one end with them never stopping chanting. A squad of pissheads on the bus going down to the stadium falling all over the place and spilling beer on my wife wasn't very pleasant. Also got our tickets through the day only to find out when we arrived that they didn't work. Queued up for another 45 minutes to get them changed and just made the kick off. The stadium is top notch with a capacity of about 27,000. Reckon their was about 12,000 at the game. At a tenner a scull for decent seats it was a bargain and would recommend it to anyone. A foot note on the drinking, I've been to Bundesliga games as well and been in the middle of trouble due to drink. None of this ever gets brought up and it's a throw back to the 70/80's over here. This is one reason that we should keep football and drink separate.
  23. Hopefully of to see Legia Warsaw v Piast Gilwice this weekend. First time in Poland so I'm looking forward to it.
  24. Just back from Crystal Palace 3 v QPR 1. Pretty decent game from Crystal Palace with QPR being mince. The only bright spot for them was Matt Philips 40 yard goal. My first thought was that Speroni had made an arse of the goal. However, after seeing it on TV, it was a stunning goal. Crystal Palace support was excellent, as always and are a good 12th man. Traditional old fashioned ground that has been adapted, but still holds a bit of character. £40 a ticket was a bit steep, but it's London, so I suppose that's the going rate there.
