John Eustace
Big fan of his. Treated disgracefully by Bham. Would be a good appointment, IMO.

You'd better pray he hasn't kept it.

Livid about this. Robson has made a habit of just doing enough to keep his job, and I had hoped he'd continue doing so for some time.

I am shocked.
Does their scouting department extend beyond looking at anyone that's been half decent for us? It's beyond parody now.
That's the feeder club model in a nutshell.

Man Utd are 2-0 up here and it could be 3 or 4.
Not sure how they're managing it because the pitch isn't brilliant. It's a fucking mystery to me tbh.

Bang out of order that St Mirren got to play on a bowling green yesterday while Rangers were made to play on a quagmire.
Honestly, that pitch is absolutely fine, but especially for late January. The baldy c**t is trying to perpetuate the myth that a surface that isn't perfect is somehow a leveller. Just take the three points and f**k off.

Apparently we knocked back Mellon when it became clear he couldn't play anywhere across the front three.

I'm honestly not sure who we could/would move out at this point. Unless Stav is away. Everyone else seems important and is of a decent enough quality.

Decent window. We needed:
1) a shuffle of the pack up front, for new ideas if nothing else
2) LWB cover
3) RWB cover/long-term Strain replacement
4) a centre mid
We have got all of those things.

Bringing the Old Firm into a thread about Hearts and Dundee is a bit weird tbh.

The Administration Yo-Yo Derby. Hearts win, please.

This was not the sort of crashing bottles I came in this thread to see, tbqhwy.

I’d love to see an improvement after the Spain break with Connor. Hopefully he can have a great second half of the season.
I really want to see him play down the left. We have him and Kiltie constantly cutting back inside. It's predictable and easy to defend. Might be ok when Strain is playing and whipping balls in from the right, but when that's gone we look very narrow and lobsided.

The issue with Stav at this stage is he's unlikely to have the time to do enough to justify the fee he would command to make the move permanent. Unless he comes back from Spain and starts banging in a goal every other game.

What a question
Arquin had more to his all-round game. Hiwula is more one-dimensional. Arquin is moody but if motivated can be a match-winner. Hiwula is a confidence player.
Worst game of Top Trumps ever?

Hiwula!
Looked great in his first pre-season against lower league opposition. Pace, movement, flicks, goals.
Then he came up against Craig Halkett in his league debut. Barely touched the ball since. Malky Mackay gave him five starts at the beginning of last season but there wasn't enough of a hint that he was going to hack it.
He offers a threat in behind but can't play with his back to goal. Given the amount of times he has been shunted to the wing in his career, because that would seem the logical thing to do if he can't play up front on his own, he plays like it's the first time he's ever been asked to think about marking a full-back or wing-back.
He might thrive next to a target man in a 3-5-2 but it never clicked with Jordan White.
So... Better or worse than Yoann Arquin?

Wait, Tonet's name was Tony Tonet?

Thanks for posting this. I don’t mean to be negative, but giving away 2 penalties and losing a goal from a set piece isn’t great. Training game or not. These are the basic mistakes we need to cut out if we want to stay in the top 6.
Mate. Just no.

Gogic won’t play midfield for us again, he’s a centre back in Robbo’s eyes and todays BBC stat about winning possession shows he was justified in putting him back there.
I think this will help us switch to 3-5-2 if the preferred 3-4-3 isn’t working.
And even if we're playing 3-4-3, we can't go into this phase of the season with just two genuine first team midfielders. One of which has been off the boil and the other, in CBM, has been good but wouldn't really be first choice under normal circumstances.
We absolutely needed a signing of this type, so I'm pleased we've addressed it and I hope he turns out to be decent.

Aberdeen's Next Permanent Manager 23/24 Edition
in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Posted
I think the challenge might be getting him to come up there. Doing well at Aberdeen could absolutely take his career onto the next level, but doing badly in Scotland has put a bullet in the head of a lot of managers that appeared to be promising.
Glass, Goodwin and Robson with Aberdeen; Ross, Heckingbottom & Moloney with Hibs; most of the same guys + Mellon and Fox at United.
Maybe they're all just shite, maybe they're all just bad appointments. Or maybe managing in Scotland is a fucking tough gig and you're more likely to fail than not. If you're Eustace, are you looking at a list of similar-ish guys who have tried it up here and are now nowhere to be seen and/or in the Scottish Championship?
