Can you explain that post? Can't see that here at all.

Third post in, in response to a clearly glib remark about it being a hipster appointment. A few posts then follow, arguing against something that nobody except Aberdeen fans mentioned in this thread.

If constant discussion about the same old candidates is frustrating, then probably easier not to keep mentioning them. 🤷‍♂️

I'd also argue that the only non-Dons fans who've suggested your club employs the likes of those mentioned are absolutely at it, and only want to see your revolving door kept busy.

I absolutely don't hope Thelin is a success for you, but at least you've tried to do something different.

I'd get this article up on the changing room wall before the Rangers games. Especially this bit.

They've chosen us as the easiest away game for Rangers. It would be brilliant if we rolled them over.

While it's mildly insulting, it's also true.

We can earn the right to not be talked about like that by scoring more than one goal against either of the top two across an entire season.

However, it may have to be played as a mud wrestling match on their marshland.

That's the game we most need to win.

Picking three for that, I'd go Gogic, Olusanya and possibly Bolton. Taylor on the bench. Hemming has got the height but I don't think he's got the pure strength you'd need for mud wrestling.

    Agreed.

Not sure if Dundee are due 3 away games, but if they are, hopefully the league will keep it simple and just send them to us for a third time.

Don’t want us to have to go to them and the league send Rangers to us for a third time.

It'll probably end up getting played at our place anyway.

If we can get Strain playing for the final games it would be a huge bonus. He really is a class act. I wouldnt risk him this weekend though.

Olusanya is getting better and better. Glad we have him for next season.

I didnt expect to be saying that. His turn around is verging on Curtis Main

I'd say the turnaround beats Main. Main was a waste of a jersey while he was injured, but his pedigree suggests plenty of managers have seen a footballer in there. His turnaround was remarkable but felt about right given his relationship with Robbo.

Olusanya was literally going to get the boot and that was almost certainly that for him as a pro footballer. He screwed the nut, listened to the advice, and has become a starting forward for us. He'll never get to the highest level - I think we're the best club he'll play for regularly - but you've got to admire the boy's attitude.

Not that its a relevant timeframe at all for anything, but I looked at the league table since we sacked MacLean and was surprised you were so low.

Feels about right: it's been clear that there's only one relevant team that we've lost major ground on, and they are going to deservedly finish fourth. The rest of that table sums up how we've managed to stay fifth despite our form being very patchy.

It's not a bad problem to have, "how high up will we end up?", rather than, "how low will we end up?"

I also think that Euro qualification shouldn't interrupt the search for players we'll use in the domestic league. We can start putting out feelers now, if they haven't already been put out, knowing if we do qualify it would be a case of just adding numbers, rather than searching for the core of a team.

No chance we're adding numbers to the squad to allow for Europe. We wouldn't be in it for long enough to justify the outlay. We should run a lean squad, but use any additional budget to improve the quality.

Same numbers as this year, but overall improvement, is what we should be looking for.

  8. That's nonsense from Warnock, tbh.

Given that he didn't get a window, and wasn't going to get one, I'm not sure what his problem is. It's not like his transfer philosophy was relevant or even slightly going to come into play. He was brought in to get more out of an underperforming squad, and failed to do so.

He might be implying that the data-first approach has led to a squad that looks ok on paper but which lacks qualities that only an old-school approach can identify and nurture. But how do often do we see players now whose data looks crap but who are actually very effective?

Tempted to bring in @RandomGuy. at this stage. Genuine question.
