After we beat Rangers that season I did think it would be absolutely typical of us to win a cup when we were unable to have the open top bus etc. Given we made the last four in both cups that season, and who was left, it's pretty frustrating we didn't win at least one of them - and if we'd won both let's not pretend we'd have shut up about it by now.
Anyway, thank you to everyone who has sponsored me for the Manchester Marathon for Accord Hospice, I've reached an insane amount. There is no way that mother and daughter are getting close to the end - didn't they manage to burn through nearly a third of their budget in the first episode? And there's a good chance the boy training to be a pilot will throttle his mate before long.
Having said that, I thought after the first episode last year that one pair were useless because it take them so long to get out of the park they started from and they ended up winning

I see there's a bit of wind but can't be as bad as some of the stuff I've trained in. Looks like it's the perfect direction to be a pain in the arse for that long five mile stretch.
Safely negotiated my final run today, had convinced myself weeks ago I'd do my ankle (again) in a pothole. That combined with it pishing it down yesterday and then being frosty overnight added to my concern.

Wasn't it Henderson who had a good spell at Caley Thistle, or did Jamieson have one too? Is he injured now as he seems to have disappeared from the squad after getting a decent chunk of game time. Always felt more optimistic about Offord's chances rather than Jamieson but that was based on their stats and little else.
If Gogic leaves, where do people think he'll go? Only realistic options I can see in Scotland are Killie, Motherwell and Dundee. Guess if one of them is in Europe that convince him.

How are you feeling @Stu?I'm not too bad, just everything I see is a hazard. Was out a run last night and convinced a dog would trip me up or the kids fishing would land their hook in my mouth.
Last short run tomorrow so hopefully I come through that unscathed. The race is the easy bit, it's all the other stuff like getting there that's the problem!
What wave are you in? I'm bronze. Forecast at the moment isn't too bad - if it can be dry for the hanging around before the start that would be good.

The problem is of course, that Robbo has done a brilliant job and is now probably our most successful manager since the 80s. Now despite what they say, a lot of people wouldn't actually "love to be proved wrong" and they aren't happy at all about this. Therefore they have to blow every minor setback way out of proportion and can't enjoy any of the good times because 2 years ago they said he was Stubbs MK2 and won't just admit things changed.
I noticed that got brought up on Twitter the other day. At the time people were right to criticise and concern because our form was awful and we'd gone from pushing for the top six under Goodwin to being dragged into the relegation mire under Robinson when we should never have been in danger of going down. They weren't much better in the League Cup either.
Thankfully, things have obviously improved considerably and I've no problem admitting I was wrong but it seems not everyone is in the same boat.

I take it from Robinson's post match interview and Langfield's comments on Twitter that some folk have been having a go at the team again?
I accept our recent form isn't great, but we've made it into the top six with room to spare - if I've done my maths right, it turns it Olusanya's goal against Aberdeen was what ended up putting us on enough points to secure our spot. Over the course of the season we fully deserve our place, even if we have stuttered a bit lately, and back to back top half finishes is a remarkable achievement after so long of not making it. Robinson has done a fantastic job over the past two years and the off the park work to improv the atmosphere and increase the attendances is also excellent.
Not saying folk can't be unhappy with the recent results, but the replies you see on club posts after some of our latest results are laughable and everyone - including the players and management (and me!) - would be as well ignoring them rather than giving them any credit. If we were just scraping over the line to stay in the league like when Gus shitfested us to safety seem to be the height of our ambitions, I'd understand it a bit more.
Last year we very much bottled our final pre-split game against Kilmarnock but yesterday we were up against the third top team in horrendous conditions and probably should have got a point. The recent form has probably screwed our chances of fourth - especially as we're incapable of beating Kilmarnock and they seem to be quite handy against the Old Firm - but fifth is very much up for grabs.
Last season, making the top six after so long and the previous near misses was the achievement and we seemed to be on the beach after the split. Don't see that being the case this time around.

As incredible a driver as Senna was, there is a lot of cultish stuff that has grown up surrounding his myth and legend, like the constant bringing up of that quote about not going for a gap. The view people have of him would undoubtedly be different had he survived Imola, regardless of what he then managed to achieve.

It's a bit of a shame to see him struggling as I like Williams, had been hoping for a good US driver and he seemed to have done reasonably well on his way through the ranks. While it seems he's a bit useless, it doesn't help that he's at a struggling team and there's sod all testing these days.
After Melbourne, it would have been some laugh if he'd demanded Albon's car for the rest of this weekend after ruining his own and it had to be explained to him why that wasn't happening...

In all seriousness, if the airport is able to operate then I'd imagine from a safety aspect it'll be fine for the game to be on. I guess the issue then is whether or not the wind is bad enough to turn things into a farce.

A win would secure top six regardless of what anyone else does. It might suit us being a difficult game against a team doing well considering this time last year we just needed to avoid defeat at home to a team that hadn't won away all season and promptly shat the bed because Saints gonna Saints.

I hope after me saying that it was London Bridge I changed! Wherever it was, it was a bit chaotic and you realise they're giving runners free travel because it would be a nightmare checking tickets rather than out of the goodness of their hearts. However, 99 per cent of people there are runners heading to one of the starts and I think they were all accessed from the same line so it's almost impossible to get off. Same when you get off the train. The volume of folk will be the main issue - that and the loos. I think I just got into a loop of going to the loo and rejoining the queue until it was my time to head to the start - and even then the fences were getting a watering!
At the end there are boards with letters on so you can arrange in advance which letter you'll meet people at. It was five years ago so it might have changed, but from memory that bit wasn't actually too busy (aside from the loo queue obviously) - it was after you got out of that and tried to get back onto the tube it was rammed, partly because as well as the marathon you're in tourist central.

Just catching up with the thread. I ran Manchester last year and I think I had the same start time as you. I got there about 8am and did use the bag drop, which, to be honest, didn't take much time at all. I don't remember having to do too much hanging around aimlessly but the queue for the toilets was pretty long, even though there were loads of them. From memory, by the time I'd queued for the toilet and made my way to the starting chute, I was about as close to bang on time as you can get.
If I was you I'd aim to get there for about 8.15am to be on the safe side as they're pretty keen to get you into the starting chute sharpish.
I was staying out in Stockport which meant a taxi and a tram to get to the start so it was an early morning for me.
Doing London this month and actually dreading the logistics of getting to the start more than I am the race itself!
Thanks for the help. I did London five years ago and the logistics of it on the day were fairly straightforward. Got the tube to London Bridge and at that point just follow the massive crowd. My (now) wife saw me about half way and I still made it to the finish before her!
Having to be there for the Expo the day before to pick up a number was a bit of a pain.

At least Motherwell fans finally seem to have moved on from clinging to the irrelevant stat they scored more points than us last season. Small steps and all that.

from memory, he hardly kicked a ball the following season in the top league. Was it some sort of abdominal injury? From there he drifted away and end up down the leagues.
Hypothetical, but if he’d been fit I’m sure we’d have performed better that season.
Ross on one side and Nicolson on the other firing in crosses for Yardley and Lavety was a joy to watch.
He hardly played the following year and missed a decent chunk of the following season too. He was tremendous when he came back and I think think Partick Thistle fans were desperately hoping they'd sign him after he got promoted. He eventually ended up there but can't remember if they'd been relegated by that point - think he was injured with them a lot too sadly.

The defence today scared me on paper and it absolutely proved true in the second half.
I was really surprised Dunne got the nod yesterday (he might have scored but going by reports he didn't do his job particularly well) over Taylor, unless Taylor isn't fit. And I thought we'd ditched Flynn playing at rightback earlier in the season when we put Small at RWB and looked a lot better. Surely could have done the same with Brown.
As soon as I saw that team I was worried - although at half-time I wasn't too concerned. Bizarre that neither Baccus nor Kwon started. McMenamin coming in from the off was also a bit of a surprise.
Fully understand folk being annoyed and angry after yesterday (aside from the usual OTT comments on Twitter) but I just found myself laughing at the ridiculous predictability of it all. There's not much more you can do when a man who used to present Blue Peter is screaming "And there's been another goal for Kilmarnock" every two minutes. My mood would almost certainly have been totally different had I been there.
To cap it all, I was at a quiz last night and there was a football question about Hammarby
