And there goes my final weekend extravaganza. Thanks Kennie, it's almost as if he reads my posts and did it purely for the shits and giggles. 😉😉

Honestly, I do think it will all be done and dusted even before the 11th, but pardon me for trying to drum up some excitement. 😉

Was chatting with some Threave fans last night at Creetown. All agreed that Threave will drop short and that it's the  competitiveness of the teams they have faced that is the difference in this league, citing the 2 home games against Vics and Dalry at which Threave were bullied all over the park, meekly succumbing to their northern neighbours.

Wee extra, some were at the Gow away game earlier and passed on their gratitude for the hospitality they were shown. A common theme commented on regarding all away venues they have visited. Clubs and fans have made them feel very welcome, even in Ayrshire I asked. Apparently so, times have changed from when I was a Weegie venturing into the Great Plains due south. 😂😂😂

Although at VOL last weekend they were a tad anxious when they first clapped eyes on the Alexandria Ultras, but their behaviour was impeccable.

All looking forward to the trip to Bellshill in wonderful North Lanarkshire, jeez they were nervous on the Bonnie Banks wait until they pass birder control into the Buckie County.😊😊

You reap what you sow. I'll be surprised if any team got a different reception from the one we got when we visited Threave. Very warm welcome, with great facilities and food.  We are looking forward to hosting them soon. may put an order in for some of their pies and sausage rolls!

I think it ends any hope Dalry had  of making it into promotion places, although it was a long shot.

Our last game is now Irvine Vics at home on the 18th of May.

Our postponed game at home against Bellshill, now goes ahead next Wednesday 24th April, 18.45 ko.  Will be an interesting match.

Rooting for a home win 😉

I thought Finnart could do something but my friend say they were really poor against Bellshill.  I only thing with the Gow is once the Wednesday Saturday come in we don’t have the biggest squad that could be an issue. On the flip side if Lanark can keep there form going that could also help us.

I can confirm that Finnart were poor again yesterday.  They scored a nice goal towards the end but didn't carry much threat apart from that.

I am not saying that Gow can't do it, but merely challenging the statement made about them being favourites to go up in 3rd.

I question how, with 8 games still to play that Gow can be considered favourites over Finnart, who only have 3 more games.

I get that The Gow are in form but, the task facing them is far greater than that facing Finnart.

Got sidetracked with Finnart. VoL are in an even stronger position as they have 4 games to play

Great win for the Gow today that’s all that matters 3 points. Finnart are out it for me. Threave another massive game against Bellshill next week. Dalry too much to do. I think it’s Bellshill or Lanark and the Gow are now favourites for 3rd. It’s Squeaky bum time as Fergie used to say.

Another interesting day; big result Threave winning 4- 1 at VOL.

Comfortable wins for Bellshill and Gow.

Where does that leave the table as far as promotion goes.

Finnart look out of it now a consensus seems to say Lanark and Bellshill are close enough to the finish line to make it.

Are Gow now favourites to go up or are there a few more twists and turns. But, don't overlook Dalry they still have 9 games and win them all they are in with a shout.

They may have more influence over who does go up as they still have Lanark  VOL and Bellshill to play.

Gow appear to have the simpler of run in with only VOL and I believe a postponed game v Bellshill to be rearranged.

Threave have 3 difficult away games at Bellshill, Lanark and Finnart, but today at least proves to themselves they can mix it.

VOL have 3 tough games in a row to carry on from today; Dalry, Lanark and Gow.

Even Bellshill and Lanark aren't free from potential hazards with Dalry, Threave, VOL for the former and Threave, Dalry and Gow for the latter with a match up for the 2 thrown in.

My feeling is both will pick up enough points in other games to make it safely.

    Exciting few weeks ahead.

Seen Finnart 3 times now and have now idea how they are where they are in the league.  They were poor today, scoring a consolation with 6 minutes to go.

Bellshill had the ball over the line twice early on which the ref didn't see and they missed a couple of sitters so could have been much worse.

Heard season may be extended by a week?

It is a massive weekend; if both Finnart and Threave win that throws the cat amongst the pigeons. Looking at the fixture run in I did feel folk were too quick to write off both of them.

So many fixtures upcoming where teams play each other which will change the league placings dramatically.

Good competitive stuff at top and bottom of league.

I've always thought Threave have been in with a shout and you can never write a team off with points on the board.  The Gow's recent good form put them in the picture but is a harder ask than , say,  what Finnart require.

Think the hardest game out of the 3 will be Dalry, don't think Ardeer have anything to offer a sim sure they are safe and will just plod along, the West park game, I think they are better technically than Lanark, especially on the astro but no experience and not hard enough in a battle so I think Lanark will deffo take 6 points out of 9, the Dalry game, I'm not so sure, they are strong but have been up and down all season

    Time will tell.

We've won 3 of our 4 away games on plastic this season, losing only to Threave.  We may end up playing Dairy on plastic if they fall too far behind with postponments.

I thought Kilsyth were. nice footballing team on their own ground, just lacking an end product.

Going to be a very exciting end to the season. We've essentially got 5 cup finals to play between now and mid May. I'd say if we can take 12 points we'll be in with a great shout of promotion, but that will be no easy task with a lot of tough games still to play.

IF, and I do stress IF, we beat Ardeer, Dalry and West Park, all away in the next three games I think we would be mathematically promoted, given that some of the other promotion contenders have to play each other before the month end.

Looking at it from the Gow side if finnart win their 4 games that’s 57 points for 3place. Gow would need 7 wins and a draw from 9 games for 57 points. Vale would need 3 wins and a draw from 5 games and both play each other. On top of that Vale go to Lanark and Bellshill got Gow away. That’s no easy. Ideal for the Gow finnart to get beat at Bellshill then is a straight fight with Vale for 3rd place.

So many if's and buts - injuries, suspensions and players being unavailable due to holidays, suspension and working.  Down to the deepest squads.

Threave  won’t get promoted this year don’t worry about that they won’t even be close. It’s a shoot out between The Gow & Vale of Leven for 3rd, Vale have the points in the bag, games in hand are not points. The Gow have done well  and on a good run will need to keep it going.. Watched Lanark today comfortable win in windy conditions.

Best team we have played this season in the league.

Spoke with a boy from Kello recently and he said this will probably be the big keepers final season due to injuries ...

Always had a blinder in games against us over the years ....Hot Shot Hamish with his kicking...

An amazing keeper and not as old as he looks, I believe

Watch Lanark a few weeks ago and I think they look a very experienced team, defense looks very strong although I felt uncomfortable when the big center half kept taking the ball too far but luckily he wasn't pressured enough.

Out of the top 10, I haven't seen Greenock or Threave play but I think Lanark will go up, well need to check their games still to play, is it a good run in?

Big Liam is no Franz Beckenbauer but very effective.

  14. 43 points from a possible 51 since new management team arrived.

Pleasantly surprised to note that we have the best defensive record in the division, having conceded 12 goals in our first 5 games, then 18 in our next 17 games.

A record to be protecting as we reach the business end of the season.

Reckon there were teams other than Talbot who were disappointed with last night's result, the relegation threatened clubs.

All credit to Glenafton. They seem to be pulling themselves out of the mire at the right time. Hopefully they continue their good run and take points off other league contenders.

Re-signing Shug Kerr has clearly had an immediate impact.

    Threave 1 Gow 1

Good battling display by Gow last night.  Threave played well. Good point considering.

Referee made some baffling decisions for either side, loved a yellow card and very little game management skills.

Lost count of yellows issued and a red each late on.

    Great wee ground.

Did you have one of their pies or sausage rolls?  Both excellent.   Great set up, as you say.

Threave are the team who impressed me most this season. Only got one game to go on. Well set up and like to try and play football.
