  1. That was fun - fairly standard Falkirk vs Hibs theatre. Didn’t see that coming really. Similar levels of organisation to Saturday but just up a gear in pretty much every way.

Everyone in the team put in a shift and you could easily praise all of them one by one.  Wee Leon McCann was brilliant I thought. He was absolutely everywhere from start to finish. Morrison also did well, not just offensively but defensively. Absolutely busting a gut to get back and help the team defend.

Reality is that it’s a league cup group game and we still have two games to go, and it would be classic Falkirk to go make a mess of things against Clyde or Bonnyrigg, but it felt great to have something positive on the park for the first time in about 3 years.

Fair play to Brad McKay btw for all he was absolutely dire last season I think he’s been very solid so far in the 3 games i’ve seen him.

This will absolutely come back to bite me shortly.

I think a big part of that is down to us being way more organised and players knowing their roles. Whether he can keep it up?  Who knows.

It’s a mute point until we get more people stepping forward and putting themselves up for election, then it’ll be up to Falkirk fans the type of folk they want on the board.

I do agree that it is not a massive issue, but I do think there is a very reasonable argument for anyone running for an FSS directorship to disclose any other involvement in fan groups in their election blurb to be honest.

The issue from the last election was that it was left out, and I don’t think for any particularly good reason (maybe because it was a temporary appointment until the end of the season?) Reading about it on pie and bovril shouldn’t really be necessary but that’s just me.

Man, barely posted and voted down twice by Marshmallo.

No idea who he is but it's pretty clear by the sheer volume of up and down votes that he's sitting constantly refreshing the page, getting a semi everytime there's a positive Lolkirk post and giving himself a harsh w**k and a down vote for every negative comment. No doubt this post alone will lead ot his third harsh w**k in the last half hour alone. His Foreskin must be as tough as a rhino's by now.

Still, at least you’ve not let it affect you.

  5. Kilmarnock clearly on another level in all aspects but think we did OK over the piece. Main highlight for me was Mackie; good in the air, strong, composed and capable of more than passing the ball backwards or sideways.

I’m also not a football tactical expert and would never claim to be, but it seemed Hetherington was playing with a lot more freedom than he has in the past. He had a few shocker passes as per usual but he actually looked quite good for the most part.

  6. A great chance for Kabia to show what he can do at a higher level. He stood out for us (although that wasn’t particularly difficult) during his short spell. Full of trickery, pace and a good finisher given the chance.  He’s not the biggest or strongest, and did have a tendency to struggle to adapt if things weren’t going his way. I suspect with any remotely competent team and a bit of protection he could be a very good player. He can be an absolute WUM on the park as well and is good for teasing out a few cheap yellow cards.

The weirdest thing was David Lapsley suddenly announcing that Bairn for Life money would ONLY be spent on replacing the pitch with grass. He seemed to have not consulted with anyone in B4L but just suddenly decided it during the meeting. The Board are reviewing which option (Grass, Hybrid or astro) they will go with and it seems to be a difficult decision that isn't just financial or about the footballer's preference for a particular surface that will decide. Basically Lapsley wanted money raised by the supporters in B4L to be kept back from the club when we are struggling and need cash to sign players because he prefers watching football on grass. That is crazy and I bet B4L contributors don't want that. Not that they have been asked!

I don't know David at all, but that outburst was absolutely wild. To then ask to go along the line of board memebers and ask for each of them to give a date as to when we would be playing on grass was even more wild.

  8. A bit of a let-down in all aspects I felt. Atmosphere felt flat, the team were flat, just a bit shit all round. Ukraine clearly carried a threat offensively but despite romping us for the best part of 90 minutes I felt they had at least as many defensive howlers as we did. If we’d been any semblance of competent we could have made it a bit difficult for them. Instead, very few of our “big” players showed up for more than short spells. Felt like a friendly at times. That McGinn miss was diabolical tbh. Obviously McGinn is the fan and media darling but he was shocking last night.

  9. Interested to see how Jacobs does for you guys. Given anybody could be made to look shit in last years Falkirk team, it’s maybe unfair to judge him. He was particularly dreadful for us to be honest, probably one of our poorest performing January signings. A better team and a proper pre-season might help him kick-on. I always felt like he had a football brain, but always seemed two seconds off the pace of the game.

I know they are a wretched collection of sub-human scum... but that genuinely shocked me how quickly they all left the stadium.

It was even more surprising how the commentary team and rangers players being interviewed continued to push the "look at all these fans who have stayed behind", accompanied by vast areas of empty stadium

  11. Luke Leahy winning supporters POTY a few weeks back for Shrewsbury.

Don’t think I’ve seen many players with such a remarkable turn around for us. You have to wonder what Pressley saw in him as the guy seemed miles out of his depth, and him playing as stand-in keeper kind of summed him up. It was even more shocking when Houston offered him a new deal. Fair play to him though - he obviously kept working away and became an absolutely key player for us in our 15-17 seasons. Good to see him having some relative success at the clubs he’s been at since.

As an edit: seems like it was actually Holt who offered him a new deal!

  12. Scott Arfield and Stephen Kingsley both reaching major finals, and Murray Wallace winning POTY at Millwall. These guys might well have gone on to do well regardless of their time at Falkirk, but there should be no doubt that the closure of the academy was an absolute tragedy on a scale that couldn’t be fully appreciated at the time. It will take years, but I really hope the club can develop a youth system that can be even a fraction of the last.
