  1. Agree Perry was better than Marr but not withstanding he could not deal with a cross ball which was where most of our goals were conceded from.
  2. Ross Perry is probably one of these players when he was younger is height and physique was enough to convince anyone that he looked like a footballer. Despite the warnings from Clyde fans he indeed was unmitigated disaster alongside the much fancied Jason Marr who was worse IMO
  3. Probably correct but the structure of the shareholding is scarily similar to East Stirling and Alan Mackin and we all know what has happened there.
  4. Word up from the Coatbridge San Siro that Bryan Wharton has been training and set to sign. What happened to him , always impressed me but seems to have lost his way.
  5. Another great interview with Parry. I didn't know he had welched on a verbal agreement with Rovers- if I'm honest it doesn't matter. That season when he was with Airdrie he was outstanding against Rovers and the single reason we couldn't beat them that season. Good big keeper.
  6. I don't have a problem with the wording ( for an absolute riddy see Ballantyne doing his Donald Trump about a reporter from the Tizer) it's the timing I can't get my head around . The club waited about 5 days until responding to this.
  7. Any indication of what the complaint was for? Training was too hard, too easy, too complicated, too shite?
  8. PR has never been Rovers strong point but we just seem to stagger from one disaster to another of late. Of course the current manager should have contacted McLaughlin to tell him he wasn't in his plans- could have been dealt with so easily.
  9. Mick going for the last hoorah ££££££. Who can blame him, the guy is a class act on and off the pitch.
  10. Great stuff. I noticed FF didn't quote the classic Paul Martin one liner. "I cannot be Bobby Barr's Social Worker". I think Bobbler would have walked out after that one.
  11. There is probably a world of difference between the peanuts Dumbarton can pay to the peanuts Rovers can pay. I think we're back to the £65 a week days. I was hoping for Ian Murray others were hoping for Peter Houston or Jim Duffy. Either way it looks as if this was all pie in the sky. The key word for Rovers this year is "stability" i.e. avoiding 10th spot.
  12. Will be out of contract I would imagine. We have a grand total of zero signed players at the moment. I didn't think Darren was a Gary Fisher fan TBH
  13. I think he managed Arbroath at one point. Would be interested to see who he brings in as an Assistant. At Stirling he had Tom O'Neill an excellent coach (was briefly coaching at Rovers under Vinnie Moore before taking up a post at Celtic).
  14. Good stuff. Always liked big Mark at Rovers. I remember his old man playing for Rovers when I first started going in mid 70's.
  15. Left halfway through the season due to personal issues.
  16. Good shout! Whoever gets it will have a small budget and will need to get the best out of the players, maybe call in a few favours and manipulate that loan system lke there was no tomorrow. Will be a tough gig.
  17. Jim did a good job for us but would be a backward step, besides his programme column quoting chinese proverbs would get on everyone's tits. I doubt we will see anyone of note coming in. I see the club is looking for a candidate with L1 and L2 experience which I hope they are not narrowing the field. A young up and coming manager/ coach ( not a rookie) who has maybe cut their teeth in management at a lower level should not be discounted eg ex-Rover Tony NcInally at Pollok . The person who gets it will know it is a tough gig
  18. Great signing fir Alloa - was the only bright spark in a dismal season for us. Good luck to the Wasps in the play offs
  19. Sore one for EF. Shocked at the score line to be honest as Darren always set up a very defensive line up for Albion Rovers- if I'm honest too defensive sometimes. Just realised recent that he is registered as a player as well which is mind boggling- he played once for us last year and was completely off the pace. Got paid a fair whack at Rovers on his playing contract as well hope EF are not making the same mistake.
  20. Hasn't been opened since 2003- there are 1or 2 fans who are deluded enough to still think something can be done with it. To be fair it's the least of the club's problems.
  21. Rovers will always be relegation favourites regardless. I prefer it when we are written off before a ball is kicked.
  22. I quite like Jim and thought he did a good job for Rovers under trying times. Deep guy though the Meet the Manager events were bizarre with Jim coming out guns blazing before anyone had a chance to ask a question and then asking who was posting criticism on the message board using their pseudonym. I think he could potentially do a good job for Clyde - will be interesting how it goes with the big time Charlies in the stand though.
  23. Bearing in mind you had the thickest guy in Scottish football as your manager, will take this on board though as we have only seen 2 of these players playing in one preseason friendly so far. PS hope all goes well with Jim Chapman- I don't recommend going to any meet the manager Q&A's
