I walked up to it last time I was at a game there - the way the buses ran I had about an hour to kill before kickoff. The footprint of the stand's still there and there's the shell of some building I think might have been the changing rooms. Worth visiting for sure, although inevitably it started absolutely pishing it down on the way back down the hill.

Played there in the late sixties and early seventies . Loved it big bath and open fire . As a young man it was great to be playing at these parks. I remember a lurcher chasing a rabbit across the park during the game .

When it was conferences the year before it was decided that no one would be relegated further than Division Three. That left 18 teams. And Finnart were promoted as Division Four winners. We all knew what we were playing for before the season, we knew we had to avoid the bottom six.

    O.K.

  3. Having looked at the fixtures it is dog eat dog. In my opinion Saltcoats ,Royal Albert , newmains and Carluke will go down along with two from three, from Lugar Dalry and E.K. but hey six teams relegated it has NEVER been heard of. Why were the leagues not more evenly balanced at the outset?

By far the best thread to date on this subject,  funnily enough started by a belter of a contentious and rather uninformed opening contribution.  Anyone wanting an accurate and  for most part balanced overview of where we are and how we got here with Pyramid would be well served to read all the posts.

Of course still some major issues to be resolved, but the thread running through the discussion is we are where we are and focusing on where the Pyramid is going is the priority. Makes a pleasant change from years of finger pointing,  making  cheap shots and sometimes plain mischief making.

Suggest next steps are for all leagues and clubs  to encourage the Scottish FA to recognise the reality of what needs to be done to get the Pyramid into a true fit for purpose shape, from top to bottom.  Chance for some real leadership to be shown, including getting SPFL actually on board.

Where gave you been for the last 10 years?

Cove Rangers and Spartans were at the forefront of all LL plans.

The rest has been answered on the previous 2 pages and countless threads around the forum.

I have been watching games  as I do as often as possible Tomorrow I will be at Cove. Then it will be back to the west of Scotland league I have been at Tranent., Newtongrange, and I have also seen Forfar United this year and ken whit there are at least six or seven west league sides that are as good if not better than most teams from the Lowland league

Yeah probably, but those clubs have to be promoted as they decided to stay as a big fish in the small junior pond. It was only when Kelty and Dalkeith left in the East to join the EoS in 2018 that those clubs became suddenly interested in joining the pyramid.

Can an argument be made to increase promotion and relegation between tier 5 and tier 6? Sure.

But there's no reason to have a go at the Lowland League clubs that first took the plunge into the unknown in 2013, when all the Junior clubs were dismissive of the Lowland League and many ridiculed it.

    Funny how times change.

Billy you are correct but in no way  I am having a go at Lowland league clubs I respect  all clubs. I question the way the league was set up .

2011 SFA AGM changes were voted through to enact parts of the McLeish Report such as the creation of the Professional Game Board and Non-Professional Game Board. Part of this was the intention to create a pyramid in Scotland. Professional Game Board starts working on it once it starts up.

By March 2013 and consulting with the SPL, SFL, SJFA, EoSFL, SoSFL, Highland League you get to the attached PDFs.

Thanks to Rangers going bust and the SPL/SFL merger on the horizon the Lowland League was pushed through for 2013/14. Otherwise the newly formed SPFL might well shut the door since the SFL clubs were getting the financial redistribution that they were seeking.

During the consultation period where notes of interests were asked from clubs. Some Junior clubs did put them in. but the message from the SJFA was that they would have to start at the bottom if they were relegated from the Lowland League. There was also scare stories around Licencing requirements and the 2 year requirement to be fully compliant. In the end no Junior clubs applied.

TLDR no one was asked because you had to apply. No Junior clubs applied.

Oh! The McLeish report and am I meant to adhere to an individuals report and not a consensus of opinion

Ok, im going to take you at your word, but you seem to have been a member here since 2010, this has all been covered loads.
But long story short, they werent overlooked, Tom Johnson did his very best to put clubs off leaving, some in the juniors sneered at the Lowland league and for others it simply wasnt the right move. The applications were open and no one applied. £120k toilets etc etc.

What has my membership to do with this?

  9. When the Lowland league was formed a huge question mark hung over my head. I asked myself why are no top Junior sides being asked to participate. I was taken aback by the way the league was formed. We had top sides in Ayrshire, Central, The East, Tayside, Fife and the north that were not include in its formation. Perhaps it was something to do do with the word Juniors.

Who made the decision to form this feeder league? as a stepping stone to possible Scottish league football and to introduce the pyramid system .I have nothing against the Pyramid system but question the way the Lowland league was set up.

Today I look at the Lowland league and I see Tranent JUNIORS sitting proudly at the top of the  league  I saw Tranent play last year and they are a very good side. They beat Darvel to secure their place in the Lowland league. I honestly believe that a number of very good JUNIOR sides were ignored and denied status when the Lowland league was set up . Perhaps somebody can explain why

No and none. 4-0 after 15 mins the Steven McNeil went off injured and they brought the back up keeper on but he can’t be blamed for any of them. In fact Arthurlie finished with 10 men for the last 5/10 as Mick McNeil got injured after we made all our subs.

    Scorers were

    Smith (3)

    Healy (3)

    Layden (2)

    Simeon

    McGregor

    Carroll

    That is some result

I didn't say there was anything between the teams. I said EK created the better chances and enough to win the game.

It's all about opinions and we maybe differ in that.

Lugar created some good chances as well and like EK hit woodwork Your keeper had a good save early doors when the lad burst through and the Lugar keeper had two excellent saves. The ordering off should not have been as the E.K player was well offside when the lugar player pulled him back. Like most people at the game I thought a draw was a fair result

    Lugar 1-1 EK Thistle.

Thistle had the better chances and created more than enough to win the game. Man of the match has to be Lugar GK keeping Thistle at bay. Lugar finished with 10 men and Thistle missed a penalty late on.

You must have been at a different game from me there was nothing in the two teams

You are dammed if you do and dammed if you don't.  Kennie people fail to look at the situation from other teams positions. They are only interested in their own. League C is down to ten.  More to follow ?time alone will tell
