  1. Player development isn't linear and it happens differently for everyone. Saying they're either good enough or they aren't is an incredibly binary way of looking at things and would rule you out of signing a lot of late bloomers. Players are clearly more likely to have a good career if they're good at a young age but it's no guarantee. On Alfie I think he can turn into a useful player for us. He's got the technical and athletic ability. What lets him down is the decision-making which is the most coachable attribute out of those.
  2. Timing of subs is one of my biggest bugbears with McGlynn but to his credit he reacted to Accies' second and the game calmed down when Tait came on.
  3. Same two for me. That ICT game was pretty drab but I got a great view of Latapy doing one of the best pieces of individual skill I've seen in the flesh.
  4. Very similar to the Dundee Utd defeat in the LC group stage. Fairly even game but we lose a goal through an error and our opponents see the game out. To add to the budget discussion, TNS signed someone from EFL League One a couple of seasons. Undisclosed fee but described as a club record, so you've got to imagine it was somewhere in the region of 6 figures. Their budget would have them top half in the Championship imo. Easy to say focus on the league but I was selfishly wanting to take the wee man along to his first cup final as he's starting to catch the bug.
  5. Quality-wise I think both teams are fairly even. They're a lot more streetwise and have played the ref like a fiddle. Still something in this for us but the final ball needs to be far better.
  6. We've still created plenty openings and will be shooting into the KM7 second half. Get these hammer-throwers pumped.
  7. Thought TNS had shown very little up to that point. Masters of our downfall atm.
  8. The financial side of an academy will be always be paramount but I think adding a further connection between the fans and the club is important too. In this day and age we need to be giving people a reason to come along rather than jump on a bus to Glasgow or stay home with Sky Sports on. The Ultras give us that and I think a steady line of local talent would as well.
  9. Have said this previously in the thread but he'll command a higher wage as a free agent in the summer than if his new club has also had to pay a transfer fee. Quietly optimistic that this window passes without any significant departures.
  10. I'd be surprised if Morrison wanted to go anyway. If the Salford rumours were true then they would surely trump Linfield in both wages and standard of football.
  11. Huge game next week. Need a statement win to stop the rot. Teams will be fancying their chances after two dreadful results. Feel entirely self-inflicted too.
  12. I thought it was the official account with ~30k followers that was being run by the guy you all disliked.
  13. If we win tomorrow and beat TNS that's us playing every Saturday til the end of the season plus 3 midweeks. A kind draw in the next round of the SC could also add a 4th. Would be madness to let Agyeman go in this window, especially to someone else in this division.
  14. Livingston: Tre Penne (San Marino) St Johnstone: Tractor-Sazi (Iran) Hearts: Maroons (Uganda) Rangers: Armed Forces (Gambia)
  15. Falkirk response to that approach from Accies
  16. Wasn't there yesterday but you can possibly forgive Agyeman's performance as he's been thrown into such an unnatural position. He's played as a winger or at 10 for us and I think Kelty used him as a striker at times. Why is McGlynn playing him at wingback, especially when our usual three behind the striker are all benched.
  17. Was thinking after their Cove game that we could hit Edinburgh for double figures but they seem to have got a few bodies in and have kept the scorelines more respectable in the two games since. Would take any sort of win and our players to get through unscathed.
  18. We get stick for having ideas above our station but I don't know a single Falkirk fan who thinks this. It's mostly a myth that other fans use to have a go at us:
  19. It's very much a back-up plan but the train connection was what made me take it.
  20. Anyone know much about Bruhl? Reserved an apartment there as its near Cologne and our plans are still a bit uncertain at present.
  21. Thought McGinn's bit about prioritising points over the unbeaten record was bang on. It would be nice to go a season without losing but we need to keep playing with freedom and the fear of losing could dent our attacking play. Just aim to win every game and see where we are come May.
  22. Completely disagree that the covid season was a bottlejob. We were rotten, even in a lot of the games we won, and it was only a matter of time before the results matched the performances and Thistle got their act together.
  23. He's been modelling for them awhile now. Sexy Falkirk are so back.
