I'd agree he's probably a better player. My main objection would be, if we're looking to bring in an experienced player on decent wages then it should be in a position that we are short on. It's been suggested on onef that Neilson has been known to play a midfield role and I'm sure Duffie could play more advanced with his pace and willingness to get forward. Perhaps it could work with both of them but I think we should be focusing on another forward. Weatherston could be a good addition as our front line is fairly young and unproven.

Not too sure about Robbie Neilson. Decent experience but do we really need another defender? Also, he's a right back and I'd fancy Duffie to have more pace than him. Hopefully it's just Pressley helping out an old pal by giving him somewhere to train.

I feel a lot more positive after the preseason games I saw. From what I've heard, Bennett had an off-game so I feel like we have a good back line. Solid if unspectacular. The midfield didn't do too much today but I was fairly impressed with the front line. Farid won a lot in air, made some clever runs and Higinbotham plays well off him.

Fair enough. I had just imagined their ground had a higher capacity due to there being terraces. Phoned up the ticket office and they still had plenty of tickets left anyway.

Heard there were quite a few positives from the Leeds game and I wouldn't have thought Preston will be as good. Could get a decent result tomorrow. Is this our last pre season match?

Haven't read the Falkirk Herald in months and thought I'd see what they said about the two games up North. I'm not sure if they're just trying to drum up a bit of excitement about the young lads or if I was at different match. Jay Fulton put in a "revelationary performance" against Locos and Kingsley looking "assured" against Peterhead. Aye ok then.

Has there been some sort of rift between Compton and the other players or Pressley? He played the second half on Friday and even when he was in space on the wing, some of his team mates only grudgingly passed to him. I'd like to see us keep him as he's one the few players capable of creating anything in the final 3rd.

Were you tempted for a "do me a favour love" comment?

To be fair to Dods, he does win most of the balls in the air and has been talking and organising the defence. His lack of pace is frightening though and we seemed to be pushing up and playing quite a high line today and last night. Seems like a recipe for disaster. For the first goal he was out paced and caught up just in time for McAlister to cut inside him and poke it past McGovern. Kingsley was napping for the second. A ball over the top, McAlister ran in from the wing and hit it on the half volley. A really good finish if I'm honest. We were pretty toothless up front today and Tam was getting frustrated at the lack of service. Higinbotham did see a lot of the ball but was too greedy too often. Wallace came on just after half time and Brisbane got a cameo in the last ten. All in all, not too many positives.

Is Bowman our only option in goals at the moment? I have very little confidence in him.

Didn't recognise too many of the players as it was mainly the youth team. Dods played the first half, Flynn played the full game and Higinbotham and Compton came on during the second half. First half was pretty forgettable but Winters hit the bar in the opening few mintues then scored from a decent through ball. We then gave away an equaliser with some slopppy play soon after. Second half we played some decent stuff and created a few good chances. We hit the woodwork twice but our finishing could have been a lot better. Flynn was playing centre mid for the second half and strolled through the game. We looked a lot sharper with Compton on the left. No sign of these two French trialists or McManus. And I didn't even realise Pressley was there until he went for a prowl down the touchline just after half time!

1-1 HT Winters scored for us but it was canceled out a minute later.

Interested to see him as there were some positive comments about his performance against Alloa. A decent striker can make all the difference in this league.

Anyone going to the two games up north? My folks stay up that way and I'm heading up for the weekend. Hoping to catch both games but Peterhead is quite an awkward place to get to. Also, any idea of what our team might look like on Friday and Saturday? The report for the Dundee Utd game says we only had two subs.

Blind faith? I haven't been able to make that many games over the past few seasons so being able to go along on a more regular basis is something I'm looking forward to. The football on show might not be great but I'll be happy just being there and having something good to do on a Saturday besides studying.
