  1. Aye, it is much more positive being an Ayr fan since BGM was emptied.

However, there is a lot of football still to be played. We remain reliant on 3/4 really good players and still have persistent weaknesses.

It'll be squeaky of that I have no doubt. Will be another last weekend job. I'm just hoping we are mathematically safe with a few games to spare. That would be nice.

Edit - FWIW I think Arbroath are already gone. I hope I'm wrong as it's a great place to go but they need a monster turnaround to get above two other sides.

Heard that apparently we've been unsuccessful in getting a grant from the SFA for the build of the new community building down at the away end.

Unsure if true but if so wonder if that means it won't happen now

Would be very surprised at that tbh.

As I understand it, the SFA is forever trumpeting the work of the club and the Academy as an example of what can be done.

I think it took him a wee while to get up to the speed of the game, but that tackle on the edge of the box was a match winner.

Aye thats probably fairer. In the air I thought he was fine but he looked a bit sluggish with ball to feet and when the attacker was running towards him.

It was a cracking tackle on the edge of the box at the end though.

Felt a bit sorry for Tomlinson yesterday, Airdrie basically only went down his side, was good going forward but Musonda, Syla and Bryden weren't helping him out.  Funny thing with the goal is that happens to McCalister more than once every single game.

I agree with Tomlinson. I also thought it was odd to play Bryden in front of him as I didn't think it would afford him much more protection.

I do think that's harsh on Musonda tbh. On multiple occasions he got drawn out to the right to sweep up the ball. Culminating in him playing at right back and being pretty solid defensively. I thought Colonel Sanders looked a bit ropey tbh. Hope he's just needing match sharpness.

  5. The free kick is Airdrie's own fault and it's their gubbins goalkeeper in particular. His priority should have been getting back to his line. Instead he is gesticulating over the fact he handled it outside the box. It was karma in action if ever I saw it. It was delicious.

If it happened to us I'd have been berating our goalie rather than the referee. Quick free kicks are a thing and have been since the Arsenal invincible days. The Airdrie defenders should also have been ready for it. Its a lack of concentration. Too busy complaining to the referee instead of doing their jobs.

First game I seen under Brown. Anyone playing on the same side as the dugout will have Brown yapping at them for 45 mins as he did with various players during the game.

I think he's a breathe of fresh air. It was when he picked Sylla up at Hampden and pushed him back on to the pitch as Queens Park were attacking and Sylla had been tackled. I knew then that he wasn't going to sit in the dugout or stand with his hands in his pockets. He kicks every ball and has high standards. I love it.

  7. I thought Airdrie's goalie was atrocious. Culminating in him handling it outside their box. I thought he was lucky that wasn't a red tbh. I'd argue it was a goalscoring opportunity given the forward only had the goalie to beat. Karma reigned though with the resultant quick free kick we scored from.

Honestly that goalie was like a poundland Neuer, constantly off his line just parading about his box.

Edit - Had we had a Stevenson or Shankland in the team we would have scored one from range as the goalie was so far off his line.

Edit 2 - Just watched it back and a yellow for their goalie is probably about right. Given they have defenders in the vicinity.

Agree with all this, thought Tomlinson was great going forward in the first half but got done big time for the first goal. I also thought Paddy Reading also had a very good game today as did Dempsey and Syla in the middle of the park.  Perhaps being harsh here but I felt Mutch should have pushed the ball round the post with the free kick rather try and catch it/palm it back into play.

I think he dislocated his shoulder making the save. Not sure he could do much more with it given that.

IMO, it makes complete sense for the full backs to be narrow. We have McGinty for crosses into the box, but he isn’t as good at defending sharp movements around the edge of the box. Far better gaps out wide than down the side of either centre half.

I think that's fine with competent full backs as the wingers need to resort to high crosses which McGinty will clear all day long.

The issue is when the fullbacks are too easy beat and the winger can run in goal themselves and pick out their player for the cut back.

Airdrie were always going to have more of the ball than us and we seemed comfortable with them taking it out wide rather than through the middle. Tactically that made perfect sense.

I know Dowds deserved the plaudits for a hat trick, but my man of the match was Sean McGinty. The big man was brilliant today.

Aye, the big man was imperious. I loved him encouraging the fans to get behind the team. That's been one of the best atmospheres in a long time. The drum helped as well.

    OK, cheers.

But why would you say stadium parking is better? Never usually bother with it as it costs money.

It depends when you arrive tbh. The closer to kick off the stadium parking is your best option.

The earlier you are you can park in some of the surrounding streets but it is limited and I'm sure I parked in a school car park once. Its not the most salubrious of areas either.

    Something slightly different.

Maggie with only 10%, must be recency bias at play there.

After the shellacking the Tories take at the next GE, I am expecting them to attempt to re-animate her corpse or clone her.

Would I? Aye? Based on what exactly? My extensive (non existent) habit of calling threads bin fires? Think I've used that terminology maybe half a dozen times in the near 20 years I've been on here. But don't let that get in the way of you talking pure pish. Or in the way of the fact I'm accurately calling this absolute bin fire of a thread a bin fire of thread.

    🙄

    You okay?
