And fair play to Ben Dempsey for achieving a level of invisibility that is so complete that he never gets criticised, presumably because no one notices he’s actually playing.

Dempsey is a bit of an engima to me. I don't understand what kind of midfielder he is.

There's a bit of the Chris Aitken about him in that he seems to dissappear into the Bermuda triangle of the pitch for large spells and doesn't touch the ball.

  2. McGinty has been as solid as a rock at the back. I actually blame Brown more than McGinty.

Tactically it makes no sense to ask him to play with the ball at his feet. He is so uncomfortable doing that, that when he is pressed heavily he is liable to make a mistake.

The timing of the error was horrific, right before half time. I can't really recall many more brainfarts this season from Big Sean so I'm not going to dwell on it.

A final point - the free headers we concede at corners has to stop. Almost every corner we conceded Dunfermline had a free header.

Tuesday will have taken a lot out them but there’s also the factor that they’ve been playing at a higher intensity in the last two months that they were in the last two years.

You’re spot on though that the majority of the squad isn’t good enough and we’re not going to get a consistent run of form for the rest of this season.

Dunfermline were playing on Tuesday night as well though. I get that the demands on the players and training intensity will have gone up.

I just hope it is the necessary wake up call that the squad needs a major  overhaul in the summer.

I can also see survival going to the last game. We need to brace ourselves for some bumps. Yesterday was grim though, we were so far off of it.

  4. That was fucking grim. Dunfermline wanted it more. We were second best across the whole pitch. If we keep playing like that we're down. That was utterly insipid, there is no upside to be found. In hindsight, I wish I'd done something else this afternoon.

The ultimate troll was Dunfermline bringing on Sleepy Joe. They were playing with 10 men and we still couldn't put a glove on them.

ICT away is now massive! 2 points seperate 5 teams. You know what time it is...

  5. Turgid and insipid in equal measure. As bad as we've witnessed this season. Not one player gets pass marks for me. We weren't in that game at all. The game totally passed us by.

A reality check for me. This is going to be squeaky wrt. avoiding relegation. Brown & Whittaker are now hopefully in no doubt of how much of this squad need emptied. I'm honestly angry at having to keep seeing some of them.

Yeah, exactly this. Dowds can play the McKenzie role, but obviously more effectively and act as the focal point.

I don't think having Dowds deeper would work. He's then having to flick the ball onwards which is likely a defenders ball. Having him up top he is more likely to win the ball over the defender and pass it back to Willoughby where he is more likely to get the ball.

Whether its Dowds up top and Willoughby behind I would expect them to swap over frequently. I think Brown would want them to be flexible and interchange if he opts to play then both.

  7. Had the mortgage broker today. My current five year fix is up in July. Best rate was 4.09% for another five year fix. This is me firming up a fall back option if the market gets worse before August.

Will check the market again as renewal approaches. My current provider won't give me a renewal option until 3 months out from the term ending.

My old rate was 2.65% so it's not as bad as I had been expecting. I had hoped five year fixes may have dropped below 4% but alas not.
