  1. Aye, we need to be a bit quicker from back to front. We're far too slow and laboured when attacking.
  2. We're barely threatening here. This half has been absolutely rancid.
  3. Only chance of an Ayr win here is their goalie having to come off and Rab Douglas coming on.
  4. I'm hoping Maxwell is well fired up given he got hooked early against Killie. He looked gutted. If Houston and McKenzie could play like they did against Raith that would be very helpful.
  5. Me... stream bought and looking at the starting 11.
  6. Aye, I'm a bit sceptical at the line up. Getting ragdolled by Killie may well have killed 2 strikers starting for us, for the rest of this season.
  7. Division A result Dearyme defeats Beef2711 by resignation. This was shaping up to be a real ding dong encounter. I castled kingside and Beefy castled queenside. I nabbed a pawn and Beefy got the drop on me with his Queen and 2 Rooks bearing down on h7. I was definitely on the backfoot and got lucky when Beef dropping a piece and resigning. Good game mate. Sorry it ended that way.
  8. Division A Result Dearyme defeats Ziggy The Spider by resignation. Resignation from Ziggy was maybe a little premature, I was about to win a pawn in an ending. In all likelihood it would have been decisive. In terms of the game, there wasnt much in it. My pawn structure was a little stronger but I think the error was in maybe being a smidge too passive before the end position. Leaving the Rook on the a file is probably better. The pawn on e4 is a little loose so is an easy target. Good game mate.
  9. It's make or break for Houston at this level. He's at a crossroads, either he does well for us and kicks on or it'll be a descent down to the juniors as Lochwood suggested. I used to rate him, he did well when he was on loan and initially once we signed him proper, but for the last 2 years he's been sporadic at best. All told, hes not been good enough going forward or defensively.
  10. Yeah, I think sometimes chess.com loses the plot. I've had similar happen on the app.
  11. Madwullie Cup Result Dearyme defeats Beef2711 by resignation. Not too much to say with this one, Beefy snaffled a free pawn early which wasn't really a free pawn. It cost a piece and then I rather boringly swapped everything off. Good game. League game is much tighter.
  12. I was playing him in the Cup and currently playing in the league. Didn't notice him going on vacation tbh.
  13. Off the field we're better, no doubt. However, on the field we are rancid. The last two seasons we have had 2 relegation battles and we're on manager number 4. We've regressed significantly. When you place the context that this squad is the most expensive we've ever assembled (since Barr) according to Smith - its been a disaster. I was more confident in 2018/19 when we re-signed Sir Lawrence & McCall was at the reigns. It really did feel like we were building something on the pitch. I've not felt like that since. Still early days for Bullen to be fair, but we're not there yet. Will be fairer to judge once he gets a summer window under his belt. The hope has to be with Mathie & Glendinning things should be better. I am concerned Bullen doesn't have his own backroom team and I'm also concerned he wants to retain elements of this squad which aren't good enough. We'll see.
  14. The argument that there are ups and downs supporting Ayr and we should just accept it for what it is, is a strange position to take. I don't accept the premise of that argument one iota. It's almost as bad as when Uncle Ian referred to us as plucky wee Ayr. A number of people who cite that argument proclaim to be glass half full as well, I'd posit that position is actually a pretty negative outlook tbh.
  15. Aye, Raith & ICT awaking from their deep slumbers might help in the run in as well.
  16. Pretty much standard for Scottish refs. They are all inconsistent incompetent bar stewards.
