Just reading through this. I'm driving to Stuttgart for the Hungary game in the van (via the Channel Tunnel and Frieburg for a couple of days) - and one thing I saw is that a lot of German cities have Low Emission Zones and require you to have a green windscreen sticker to show that your car is Euro4 or better.

We're staying at campsites in Freiburg and Stuttgart that mean I need to drive in the city centre, so I sent off for the sticker and got it back in about 8 days, although I imagine there might be a rush for these things nearer the time as lots of mainland europe folk will drive compared to the UK. You can basically get the sticker from any cities' issuing authority and it "works" everywhere (I used Stuttgart's).

There are other rules about carrying dayglo vests, warning triangles and first aid kits but I've got no clue if this is enforced much. Also - Germany's border with France and a bunch of other places will have controls, so I assume that might cause delays.

This is really helpful, thanks. We're driving too, Hull-Zebrugge-Dusseldorf (then Cologne then Stuttgart).

I drove in France years ago and you had to put wee stickers on your headlights - does anyone know if this is still a thing?

Not a fan of the numbering being within the teams rather than just starting from 1. Pain in the arse to find things.

Do you not sort them by team before sticking them in anyway?

Absolute anarchy if folk are sticking them in the order they come out the packet!

  3. Any Hearts fan who wouldn't be absolutely howling about that free kick if the shoe had been on the other foot is at it. It's the clearest example of the "offside-interfering-with-play" phenomenon I've ever seen and I'm baffled there are people trying to argue with a straight face that the goal should have stood.

You've more of an argument with the penalty but I agree with Mark that contact doesn't automatically mean foul. It was never a booking though.

Eh, considering how little the attendance has dropped off I think you'd be charitable saying 50% of County fans gave a shit about Malky's past. Honestly, if it was even 10% of the support I'd be stunned.

Bottom line, when the club appoints someone with Malky's track record, we're going to have to hear about it from other fans. Best to just accept it rather than get offended.

It's a stretch to assume the only way to voice displeasure is to stop attending. This was their club before it was Malkys and it will be theirs again when he's gone. Why should they give up on it in the meantime due to a decision they have no control over?

I've personally attended away games only for two years but no judgement on anyone who's been attending VP.

    All going swimmingly so far.

Let's see how many Ross County fans are suddenly intensely vocal about wanting the racist sacked now that his pea brain has actually resulted in football related consequences for them.

About as many of us who have been extremely vocal about it for the past two years.

Fifteen of the young team singing a song about him doesn't mean the rest of us don't understand what that man is.

Murray has ragdolled our defence 3 times already this season for QP and while we're a bit (a lot?) more solid under Doolan the centre of defence is still a huge worry.

However we've not got this far in the playoffs by relying on defence so hopefully we can continue the pattern of each of the 4 games so far of starting shite, Mitchell making a good save and then us going up the park and scoring 2 minutes later before taking control of the game.

Not a problem, Malky doesn't play Murray until we're two down after 80 mins.

Where is good for a pint and away fan friendly near the ground? Definitely going to need something to calm the nerves! Our biggest game in a while! Can’t say I fancy us on the plastic pitch but anything can happen on the day, just hoping mackay finally leaves this 5 at the back nonsense as we looked a man short last night up the field.

A big group of us go to Mack's before every killie away. More than welcome to join.

  8. Just back from our P&O week. Was mostly class, would say we are pretty close to being indoctrinated into the cult (and it is a cult).

Few bits that were less good - some folk genuinely seemed to not wash for the week and were actually reeking. Most folk were well behaved but there were some characters on board who I think had probably won a raffle or something. Also a huge proportion of guests seemed to just waddle between the various restaurants and buffets and constantly be eating themselves even closer to death. A weird thing to watch actually. The buffet was like Baghdad and we ended up avoiding it entirely.

We got the drinks package (£39.50 a day per person) and with most drinks at £6.95 or so it easily paid for itself. I didn't consider us massive drinkers but maybe we are if other folk think 40 quid a day for drink on holiday is bad value.

Porto was stunning, will definitely be back. Vigo was OK, interesting wee place but not much to it. Glad to have been but wouldn't consider much left to do there. Lisbon was nice, huge place obviously and we only saw a small amount of it. Would probably go back.

Did a couple of the excursions which were mostly good but christ I could do everything myself faster. A cruise is a week of walking slowly behind fat old people basically.

Is that two Scottish contestants in 14 series now?

Fern Brady was the worst bit too.

Been said before I'm sure, but for me the fixation with booking only comedians is tiresome after 14 seasons. Get other 'famous' people on who aren't necessarily known for being funny, please.

We are doing our first cruise in October. I was a little apprehensive but she was keen and we got a reasonable deal. Starting small with 7 nights from Southampton to Vigo, Lisbon, Porto and back via Cherbourg. Figured no harm no foul for an easy 7 days for the first one. If we like it, we will go further afield in future/longer sailings.

Will the boat be full of old people? That's really my only "concern", along with developing another niche holiday habit - I already ski once a year. Life is going to start getting dear if I like cruising.

It's with P&O who I think might be at the less salubrious end of the market but I'm sure it'll be grand.

We're away on Saturday. What's the script with smuggling booze on board? Presume it's a no-no?

  11. The Campbeltown Loch went to the whisky warehouse in the sky last night. Terrific dram for the price but good luck finding it (springbank).

To make up for this, I've opened two new bottles tonight - Glen Scotia 15yo and Fettercairn warehouse batch no 2.

Sometimes it's OK to enjoy life a bit eh.

That said, surely if you fancied this game having to get tickets shouldn't have been an issue given how long it's been scheduled. E-tickets would be easier obviously, but County put tickets on sale in mid July. Unless it's a last minute decision it's not really that big an obstacle.

It's a last minute decision for me. Have been planning it but am helping my sister move this weekend so I had to be sure I could work around that.

It's a particularly acute issue for County's away support which is mostly central-belt based. Dundee are doing the same thing to Partick fans on Saturday but at least the majority of them presumably can get to Firhill to collect a ticket. I'm not going from Larbert to Dingwall to get a ticket for a game in Edinburgh.
