  1. Back on topic however Bill Miller had to pay the Duff & Phelps a £500,000 "exclusivity fee" to have a look at the books. Do you think I could find another 19,999 people who'd pay £25 to have a look at them?
  2. Surely RC can't be Proddy? And while we're on matters theological Isn't John the Baptist's claim to Sainthood stronger than Mirin's? Not only has he got the prior claim by over 5 centuries but he's got a big write up in the bible, he even gets a mention in the Koran.
  3. When Spiers had to finally accept that SFL Division One gets bigger crowds than the Irish League he fell back on his other example "Well maybe not Ireland but the SPL would be like Finland" I checked Finland's 12 team top flight average attendance was 2,160 for 2011 (They play in the summer) SFL Division One averaged 2,300 Dundee got bigger crowds than anybody in Finland and only three Finnish teams got bigger crowds then Falkirk, while 5 were smaller draws than Ayr United Sources: http://itv.stats.football365.com/dom/SCO/D1/attend.html http://www.worldfootball.net/zuschauer/fin-veikkausliiga-2011/1/ What people seem to miss when they point to other countries as a doomsday scenarios of what Scottish Football without the old firm would be like is that in many other Countries Football faces far more serious competition from other sports. For Spiers suggestion that without Rangers Scottish Football would become as small time as Finnish Football only makes sense if you think that without fixtures against Rangers we're all going to go nuts about Ice Hockey.
  4. The point is that Partick fell about £300K behind and were able to find a way out of trouble. Just as Hearts sudden £1m tax bill last year was sufficient to cause a cashflow crisis and some embarassing late salary runs but the transfer window opening, a cup run and the start of Season ticket sales meant that they could stabilise the situation. In terms of the proportion of turnover the crisises at Firhill and Tynecastle are roughly equivelant to Rangers small tax case and if the small tax case was all Rangers had to worry about they could have taken Partick's approach and covered the debt by selling off Jelavic, narrowly lost the title and had another shot at it next season. Even allowing for the size of Rangers (2011 Turnover £34m) their liabilities to ther revenue look to be more like two years worth of revenue as opposed to two months. The reason Cammy35 hasn't heard about any other clubs being severely punished for it is because no club has screwed up as severely as Rangers.
  5. Aren't the liquidators controlling the incubator doing so on behalf of the creditors at least in theory. There is a suspicion that in this case they may not be serving the creditors interests as well as they might but that's another question. Essentially The liquidators bundle up the assets into a viable company and sell it off to try and get the creditors some of their money back.
  6. The league Table without results against Rangers Team Pld W D L F A Pts GD Celtic 31 26 3 2 70 13 81 +57 Motherwell 32 17 7 8 47 34 58 +13 Dundee Utd 32 13 11 8 56 40 50 +16 St Johnstone 32 14 7 11 42 39 49 +3 Hearts 31 13 6 12 40 30 45 +10 Aberdeen 32 9 11 12 32 36 38 -4 Kilmarnock 32 8 13 11 39 55 37 -16 St Mirren 32 7 14 11 33 45 35 -12 Inverness CT 32 8 8 16 37 52 32 -15 Hibernian 32 6 9 17 34 57 27 -23 Dunfermline 32 5 9 18 37 66 24 -29
  7. I read that post and thought. "I wonder who finished 11th when Gretna went under". Surprisingly it was Kimarnock Although under closer investigation They would have finished ahead of Saint Mirren if you ignore the result against Gretna. It would also have excused us the embarrassment of missing out on the top 6 for the first, and so far only time. Either way I'm not convinced that finishing above a team that gave up sufficient to show you deserve a top flight place more than the 2nd place team in the SFL I'd rather see a play off.
  8. Despite all the moral panic about the "riot". The number of Arrests in Manchester wouldn't have been unusual for an Old Firm Game. This can be interpreted in one of two ways. 1) Rangers fans have been painted in a bad light by an unsympathetic press 2) Old Firm Fans are radge b*****ds on a regular basis not just one off finals
  9. His outbursts about the Old firm corrupting Scottish Football and the Scottish press being a bunch of monkeys now seem a bit tame.
  10. If they're pissed off with the SFA and the FA won't have them have they considered writing to Irish Football Association 20 Windsor Ave, Belfast BT9 6EG, Northern Ireland Aside from the cultural aspects, playing in Ulster would give them a league where they could outspend everyone without having to fidde their taxes and regular access to the Champions league Qualifiers
  11. I must have missed something here What have Tesco's actually done to upset those people* I had a quick look on Google but all I got was special offers on Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers products and them sponsoring a Sunday Football Tournament In liverpool where one of the teams's called Kingsway Rangers. *formerly "The people"
  12. Given the incompetent Rangers support's inability to harm Neil Lennon with their so called "viable devices" I don't think the Hampden three should be too bothered
  13. As Rene Descartes once almost put it: "Je pens, donc je ne suis pas un supporter de Rangers"
  14. More recently the Chick and Traynors of the world were calling for ten point penalties to be applied to Hearts for paying the wages when they said but too late to clear same day. We've now got Rangers paying wages at a few pence in the pound, although apparently on time.
  15. To write off his entire work as bullshit would be unfair The key thing to remember about Neitzche is that he lost his virginity to a whore at University and in the process caught syphylis which eventually sent him mad and killed him. Which explains a lot of the more mysoginist, dark and demented bits of his work As an ancient Oriental philospher* once said "Genius is twin brother of Madness, sometimes one mistaken for other" Neitzche started off as one and finished as the other. He may have been both for a while. People who quote him as an authority without stopping to think whether he may have had his pants on his head at the time still deserve our mistrust. * Charlie Chan the Chinese Detective "Charlie Chan at the Opera" 20th Century Fox, 1936
  16. It's all part of the common fallacy that "Football is big business these days" In general clubs are commercially dwarfed by their sponsors. Saint Mirren are sponored by a company "Capital Shopping Centres" that's worth about 80 times as much as Celtic.
  17. Most of them should have had at least a rough Plan for their own team not being in the SPL never mind being in an SPL shorn of Rangers.
  18. Some Key Facts and Figures about Sky TV Total customers: 10,471,000 TV customers: 10,253,000 Sky + HD customers: 4,063,000 Multiroom customers: 2,350,000 Sky Broadband customers: 3,651,000 Sky Talk customers: 3,407,000 Adjusted revenue: £6,597,000,000 Investment in programming: £2,188,000,000 Adjusted operating profit 1 : £1,073,000,000 http://corporate.sky.com/about_sky/key_facts_and_figures To put that into perspective the whole SPL TV deal costs 0.24% of Sky's total revenue. Their subscriber base is bigger than Scotland and Northern Ireland put together. That's how important SPL led subscriptions are to sky's business. Rangers fans are basically chucking pebbles at a Rhinocerous. If they do it very, very well then their target might actually notice that somebody is trying to piss them off but that's about it.
  19. Victoria Wine along with Haddows, Wine Rack, Peter Dominic etc were owned by "The Threshers Group" which went into administrations in 2009
  20. He actually said precisely that in the post match interview on Saturday Which I thought was a bit strange as they don't know what they're going to get yet.
