  1. Wasn't pretty but a hard fought win will hopefully improve confidence-body language first half looked nervy today and VAR decision changed the game for us. Sylla was superb throughout but our worry going forward is how poor our strikers are at retaining possession and bringing othersinto play. I'm sure the Doc is aware of this and will be looking to upgrade going forward. Lamie coming back will hopefully steady things too. Happy days!
  2. Tried to avoid previous comments so not influenced but I said at 2-1 Dees we should be proud of performance irrespective of result. Difference between side was Shankland-don't know what it is but he just seems to dictate play and defenders stand off (or are kept off him by Shankland). Tony coukd have added fresh legs when 2-2 but difficult to criticise and I would have remove Bayako rather than Mellon but we don't know what the monitors are saying and Mellon lacks match time. Onwards and upwards
  3. I think Mr Bowyer is getting an easy ride here. He is the one who is frightened to play two upfront because he has no trust in the midfield. He is also the one telling the troops to play long balls upfront when we have many skillful players that would be more comfortable playing it on the deck through the middle. Be interesting to see what the Salford fans think of his style as in that TV show he seemed to also prefer a 'target man'. The jury is still well and truly out on GB in my view.
  4. Well played Arbroath - frailties of Dundee squad in full view. Central pairing of two cloggers and two limited ability full backs too much to bear. (Kerr fell out with Bowyer when subbed but probably picked the wrong game to do it- gave away needless foul for first goal and was skinned a few times by MoM El-M). I see Robertson getting a lot of hate but other than losing possession for 4th I felt he suffered from little support from McGee/McMullan and Williamson from sitting in the dressing room. Times change quick Mr Bowyer and tactically you were caught out today. Dundee goalie at fault for first but didn't think he had much chance with the other three- fault was not winning first headers. Usual scenario- big crowd at home and we fail to deliver. Hopefully a few fresh faces can be secured in January.
  5. Improved performance from Dees today. Hopefully Bowyer is working out 1) Sheridan can be released 2) Rudden is work in progress 3) Sweeney let them back into the game and looked hesitant for most of the game. Whether Ashcroft is any improvement is open to question so a upgraded centre half might be wise in January. 3) keeper position still up for grabs 4) Pace of Cameron and strength of Mulligan add to team (whether through impact subs or from start) All in all a more cohesive performance that can be built on v Moton hopefully with just the changes alluded to above.
  6. The coming inside of the fullbacks when defending was started in the McPake days and seems to be continuing under McGee. I can understand this if your opposition has a potent strike force but there was no need last night against a loan striker. Teams are wise to this and both Celtic at Dens (Abada) and Hibs (Cadden) just hug the right touchline and get acres of space to control the ball and run at the left back. With McGinns lack of mobility and pace combined with Marshall's lack of defensive skills this is an obvious weakness for Dundee. If multiple posters on here can see it why do they still persist with it is beyond me.
  7. Reading the posts from this evening and I see it's not just me that sees Elliott is having a mare. Never within 10 yds of the winger. [emoji85]
  8. Credit where credit is due- that was a very competent performance by the Dees tonight. In fact I don't remember them dominating a first half so much in a long time. That's the bar set - if McDaid, Mullen and Co can put a shift like that they have to do it every week. The conceded goal was an individual error but on the whole the pairing was improved. Goalkeeper who regularly gets slaughtered on here had a good game too. Anderson's performance reminded me of Kevin Mcdonald in his early years so hopefully he reaches his heights. So plenty of positives. Fingers crossed we can build on this- why change a winning team!
  9. Well McPake, That will have helped McMullan's confidence if he's not injured. Surely the immobile Sow should have come off??
  10. Hats off to the team at Raith TV. Unbiased commentary and decent content-- no real cost to making Deetv similar. (half time content not a criticism of commentator). Some goal from the fullback. Let's see if Dundee are up to the fight.....
  11. Can someone ask Charlie which end of the ground he wants his statue erected [emoji106]
  12. Where does the optimism come from? Couple of Friday beers and the past is forgotten and you feel we could roll over our Fife chums[emoji16] Will McPake ditch the three at the back plan that has caught us out previously? Will we counter Dunfermline'mobile midfield? (with our new 'box to box' find) Will our developing forward line finally 'click' and dispel the opinion that they are just a little bit meh? 'Mon to #### Dundee- please give us something to smile about in what has been (so far) a boggin year off and on the football park!
  13. Doesn't help the strikers when we very rarely get to the byline to put crosses in. Must be easy for our opposition's defenders always facing the ball. McDaid unfortunately is not the answer.
