Rahm pulled out of it already.

Is the deal over? Can’t see it anywhere. Gutted if I’ve missed that.

Glorious. I would be absolutely sickened if I was English.

Very rarely in Ayr these days, but last time I was there the pubs seemed to have died. Best one is probably The Abbotsford but think it might have been sold to be made into flats or something. Smoking Goat is decent too.

This is undoubtedly true.
He has retired or died, and his daughter now runs the place - I understand it is much improved (although I havent been in for about 10 years).
Aye he died. Tbf the first time I went in I thought the daughter was a bit of an arsehole but been in plenty since and always been good.

Judging a drinking pub on its food selection/pricing is disgusting behaviour.

Jealousy is an awful affliction. You may reach the heady heights of the EH10 postcode some day my friend.

The Canny Man's is awful IMO. It should be good but full of the worst c***s in Edinburgh and therefore planet earth.
Never really found it to be like that, but admittedly a bit biased as it’s my local and it’s got a great whisky selection and decent beers.

Brauhaus, Bennets (both Tollcross & Morningside), Guildford Arms, Diggers, Windsor, Canny Mans are decent in Edinburgh off the top of my head.
Weird seeing The Abbey being mentioned positively, the guys I know who went to Uni in Edinburgh said it was known as an absolute dive filled with nutters only <10 years ago. Need to give it a shot.

If the draw was today:
Pot 1 - France, England, Belgium, Croatia, Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Ukraine
Pot 2 - Austria, Serbia, Poland, Scotland, Hungary, Wales, Czech Republic, Turkey, Norway, Romania, Slovakia, Greece
Pot 3 - Finland, Ireland, Slovenia, Albania, Bosnia, North Macedonia, Iceland, Montenegro, Israel, Northern Ireland, Bulgaria, Georgia
Pot 4 - Luxembourg, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kosovo, Estonia, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Faroe Islands, Latvia, Lithuania, Andorra
Pot 5 - Moldova, Malta, Gibraltar, Liechtenstein, San Marino
I don’t think we should be too worried about any of those pot 3 teams so I’d back us to get at least a playoff. Slovenia and Albania would be the trickiest customers as both are rapidly improving sides. Conversely there’s a few pot 1 teams that I’d back us to go and win the group over. Sweden in particular are guff and their current world ranking being so good tells me that the ranking system is based over way too long of a period to be particularly relevant.
So group winners qualify, then all 2nd placed teams go into a playoff format along with 4 NL teams?

Bit of a stretch.
Heroic at home against Spain. Poor in Norway, but for a crazy couple of minutes.
Competent elsewhere.
One of the most self-loathing, miserable c***s on the entire website. Brutal.

This is probably the best game of rugby I’ve ever watched. Two phenomenal teams both playing at the absolute top of their game with 100% intensity.

That is actually massive
Given the fact not all group winners get pot 1, we'd have potentially been looking at pot 2 even if we'd lost 1-0 v Spain
Had a look at other groups, and if it’s a draw Sunday, then us winning our last 2 games leaving us on 21 points means the below teams will very likely win their groups with more points than us:
France
England
Belgium
Portugal
+ hosts GermanySo I think we would be pot 1 if it’s a draw Sunday and we win our last 2.

Booked travel to get to West Germany Saturday 15th-Friday 21st. Think my mates have fucked it though by putting it off for so long despite my repeated attempts to get stuff booked, as accommodation in Cologne and Düsseldorf is incredibly limited now.

If that happens, I think both would be capped at 20 points. I think the Netherlands/France scenario is the only one that can relegate us down to pot 3 IF we win the two games in November.
7 minutes ago, Jaggy McJagface said:Yeah you’re right, my mistake. Looks like we’ll know for certain after the France game tonight whether 6/6 will be enough for at least pot 2.
In that case, other than the dream scenario of a draw on Sunday, I’m definitely in the Spain to win and confirm qualification camp if we can still secure pot 2, whereas I was starting to sway towards Norway winning to give us a chance of topping the group. I completely understand people just wanting qualified asap, but being pot 1/2 at the tournament vs pot 3/4 is a huge difference in terms of chances of progression.

Wanting a Norway win on Sunday is mental, as that leaves us being a slip up in Georgia away from a nerve wracking do or die match against Norway where they will have all the momentum.
If we were to win our last 2 games we will almost certainly be in pot 2 as the best runner up with 21/24 points - that’s an achievable goal and has less unbearable pressure on it than if we are going into matches worrying about the unthinkable happening.
Not sure this is correct, looking at the groups there are a few who would be able to finish second with that sort of points total?
1 hour ago, Donathan said:Yes, the top 5 group winners join Germany in pot 1 and the other 5 go into pot 2.
If you finish 2nd you almost certainly go into pot 3 or 4.
@Donathan thoughts on the post above? If we can finish 2nd and still have a chance at pot 2 that would be huge.

Uh huh. You dont think thats offside then?
I have no idea why the ref appears to signal a direct free kick. Maybe he lost the plot and made the wrong signal. But its offside.
I said immediately if its given for a foul then its an absolute nonsense. Thats still the case.
As about 20 other people have already said that you’ve ignored completely, UEFA confirmed that it was given as a foul. Then about 20 mins later, presumably after watching it back a hundred times and realising that the referee has absolutely fucked it, have changed their minds to it being offside. You’re either being an idiot or deliberately obtuse in refusing to acknowledge this.

@Skyline Drifter just being deliberately obtuse/thick now and ignoring every comment proving him wrong and responding only to the ones mentioning offside. You fucked it, just take your medicine and shut up.

Draw on Sunday is what we need.

How people choose to run their finances is their own business, but the relationship described in the original post sounds like an abusive one and the lady needs to escape it.
We have a joint account for the mortgage and most the direct debits, which is paid into proportionately by salary. I earn more, so pick up most of the other spend; the rest is our own money.
16 hours ago, Hedgecutter said:One joint account for mortgage, fuel, broadband, cooncil tax etc. We both pay in the same % of our income into this from our own separate current accounts.
Whatever is spare in our personal accounts after that is ours to play with as we please*. Separate savings accounts as well.
If she lost her job or whatever, I wouldn't let her go without basics such as a car if I had surplus though, although words may be had if I was lending money only for her to be spending it on handbags and candles. That said, if she lost her job, then I wonder if my contribution would drop to 0% under the proportion match agreement?
*she's never specifically said "no hookers"
15 hours ago, MONKMAN said:We have a joint account that we both pay in to that covers mortgage, bills and monthly expenses such as shopping etc. We split this proportionately so as I earn more, we split this 60:40 with me paying the greater share and whatever we have left over is our own spends. We're very fortunate that we both earn very good salaries, so money has never really been an issue or a cause for concern in our relationship and whatever is left over each month belongs to that person. Considering my wife likes to spend a monumental amount of money on utter shite each month, I'm more than happy with the current situation. Ironically, as I tend to cover more than my share for holidays, meals, days out etc she probably has more of a disposable income than me despite earning less.
Yeah this is the best way IMO. Bills, meals out, joint purchases etc all come from the joint account that’s split based on incomes, then what’s left is each person’s to spend on whatever they want.

They’re just a comfortably better team unfortunately, and it’s showing big time.
