  1. Is anyone on here entering The Great North Run?
  2. I got a coupon up yesterday (Aberdeen, East Fife, Peterhead) so I stuck a double on Leeds and Chelsea. Looking at the state of the pitch at Histon this could end up 0-0. That was a shocking miss by Bechio after a good cross by Snodgrass.
  3. Leeds are 4/6 for the Histon game! Histon's ground looks about the size of Stranraer. The tug on the heart strings pishy report with ducks and the local shops and the likes made the place look tiny. C'mon Leeds! Into these bumpkins! Shitty weather for kick off. Who decided that having a football match at 12 noon was a good idea?
  4. Because i'm difficult to buy for. So my family will be buying me Band of Brothers along with The Simpsons Halloween Specials, Peep Show latest series and possible a Rovers top. I could buy these things myself but that would leave me unwrapping a chocolate orange at xmas, when they're passing round the presents.
  5. I had the video box set a few years ago. I'm hopefully getting the DVD box set for Christmas. Fantastic series. The interviews with the veterans make the series.
  6. We've got a caravan park (chalet park now) across the road from Smeaton (dodgy council estate) so somebody must like the place. Fife has loads of nice places along the coast. As you leave Aberdour for Burntisland, you get some great views across the Forth. If I ever come into a suitable amount of money, i'm buying one of the houses down by the sea at Aberdour (don't know what the present owners will think of that).
  7. Well obviously for a posh farmer type from Perth those places are ghastly. But there are places that aren't so shite, other than Anstruther, like: Culross Limekilns Pittenweem Elie Crail St Monans Cellardyke St Andrews Newport Kinghorn Aberdour Cupar Falkland Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline and the likes aren't that bad either. So on the whole it's ok, with some wee shitey villages which make up about 25% of it.
  8. My grampa was from Cumnock. Always seemed ok when I was wee and the pits were open. Then I grew up, Maggie happened, and the place was an utter shitehole. They still had boot boys when everywhere else had casuals. The row of shops on the scheme my grampa lived on were all derelict, bar one which had steel wire shutters up everywhere at all times.
  9. Harthill always strikes me as the bleakest place in Scotland. There's also that row of council houses just of the M8. Who fucking lives in these places? The suicide rate must be through the roof.
  10. That was a great game. I thought he'd do the typical Scottish thing and choke but he's obviously better than that. A well deserved win.
  11. Shooter - 9/10 Mark Wahlberg is a ex-special forces sniper who gets framed for trying to kill the president of the United States of America, JFK stylee. The story is taken from Stephen Hunter's book Point of Impact, which is also good. Loads of action and chases and a high body count at the end. If twats like me had went to the cinema to see it, instead of buying a pirate copy, then it might have done better at the box office.
  12. Ah well, another season in the tumbleweed leagues.
  13. Kenny - 7/10 About a guy called Kenny who cleans out portaloos at festivals and the likes. He comes out with some quality lines, although his speech impediment got on my tits at first. http://www.infilm.com.au/?p=24 Some quotes from the film "Mate, it's not that I'm not listening, you just have to understand there's a smell in there that's going to outlast religion" "As mad as a clown's cock" "From behind, Mum looked like a fridge with a head on it" "Dave was here, what a claim to fame that is. What'll he be like when he goes to Paris. He'll wanted a golden handshake and a brass band. What a claim to fame that is, he visited our shitter. What a fucking Muppet"
  14. I'm getting deja vu...might have posted this already. T. M. Devine - The Scottish Nation 1700-2007 Tim O'Brien - If I Die in a Combat Zone The Scottish Nation was a bit heavy going but was educational. I only bought it because I have very little knowledge of Scottish history. A few good titbits of info were gleaned, such as why some areas of Scotland have certain demographics and how the term 'steaming' came about. Tim O'Brien's book was a nice easy read for the train. Young guy's experience of the Vietnam war. Doesn't glorify it at all.
  15. The Bourne Ultimatum. Entertaining violence 7/10. Bourne beats more people to death, to discover who he is.
  16. Shooter - Mark Wahlberg (sp?) and Rhona Mitra. Quite a high bodycount. Enjoyable stuff for would be assasins. 8/10 It's based on the book by Stephen Hunter, so I knew what was going to happen but it was still good to watch.
  17. Right, that's settled that'll be getting watched tonight.
  18. The second and third Harry Potter films....the bird forced me to watch them....honest They were pretty good. I saw that annoying wee c**t who plays Harry on Jonathan Ross's show....ooo...he is a lively wee fucker....I just wanted to reach into the telly and twat him... .....anyway all good clean family viewing 8/10
  19. Meet the Fockers - 1/10 utter shite...i'm only giving it 1 cause i'm feeling charitable today. I want my money back...Telewest pay per view films will be hearing from my solicitor.
  20. Spunk eating Barmaids and Dirty Holiday Whores were also quite pleasurable viewing. 7/10.
  21. Is that a sort of lord of the flys affair where they drop kids of on an island and they all have to kill each other. Only one can survive? my wee bruv recommended it.
  22. Team America: World Police 9/10 Excellent stuff. Especially the theme tune 'America! f**k yeh'
