It's unlikely Robbo would be howling about it to be fair. He's normally pretty honest although when Vigurs signed a contract with Ross County I recall we did release a bit of a tear stained statement that he had left for them on a 3 year deal (which apparently turned out to be incorrect). I think that was more down to the club than the manager so Robbo will be pretty understanding if White has indeed gone. It's a good move for the guy and good luck to him I say.

In fairness I just found it quite funny after the Gallagher thing last year with Wright coming out in the press telling folk we were signing him rather than St Johnstone. Robertson's comment is absolutely fair enough.

Incidentally, I had a feeling we'd been linked with White years back and a quick check on Steelmen says we were apparently looking at him (and Rooney) back in the 15/16 window when he was at Livi and Rooney was at Queens Park.

Apparently in some Q and A thing this evening Robbo mentioned that White has signed a PCA with you guys.

    The Q&A is here btw.

In fairness to Robertson he doesn't actually name us.

Around 52:50 he just says that Rooney and White have signed PCAs with "other clubs". It's not a massive leap to think we're the club for White but it's not quite Tommy Wright chucking his toys out the pram and telling the press that Declan Gallagher's signing for Motherwell.

Ha! It was Tommy Wright announcing our transfer business this time last year. Presumably Robertson is a bit less passive aggressive about this one.

Tbf, Robinson was saying in an interview on BT the other week that we'd a couple of PCAs confirmed before *all this* and we were waiting on them being ratified. I'd imagine White was one he was talking about, Rickie Lamie being the other as Scott Burns had ran that story shortly before.

Going by Tony Watt's chat on the MFC Podcast the other day it sounds like he's keen to stick around at the club as well. Which I'm all for tbqh.

I would think that record may attract another bigger job down south in the next year (of playing football), if he keeps the standard up the international job will come at some point.

I'm not sure that's actually the case tbh. He's already had his stint at Oldham which regardless of the circumstances still shows up as 21.2% win rate on his CV but this is his first proper job.

Looking at our previous managers McCall had the opportunity to leave but fucked it - even then Sheffield United were League 1 at the time. Brown and McGhee left for Aberdeen but you probably need to go back to Davies to find a manager who left us to go on to manage at a "higher" level through his career (inexplicably in his case - the absolute weirdo he is).

If anything O'Neil's probably a good example of what making a go of the NI job could do for Robinson...would he be likely to get a gig like Stoke directly from Fir Park? Probably not.

Not that I'm packing his bags for him or anything, it'd be a boot in the baws especially if we've got a couple signed up on pre-contracts and are speaking to others about extensions but in terms of the model at the club in terms of being a platform and everything then Motherwell to International Manager is definitely in line with the upward career trajectory we're keen to bang on about.

So stick with what we have and relegate Hearts?

Having read the comments from Dempster about Hibs I wouldn't be surprised if that's how it went.

"We believe the biggest issue facing the game in Scotland is not reconstruction, it’s getting our whole game back up and running." suggests that the Reconstruction "Task Force" have pretty much just been given their colouring books and told to go and keep themselves busy.

Also, reading our update it seems pretty at odds with how Budge is approaching things ie: "temporary reconstruction", "quick fix" etc.

I may be doing her a disservice but I don't think Budge really comes across as the sort of blue sky thinker who's going to come up with the sort of proposal that will "make the game better in the long term".

Its difficult to argue with any of what she says.

If this goes on to the end of the year or more with limited / no fans at the matches, then relegation will be irrelevant - reconstruction might be predicated on whether your club is still solvent !!

First of all, smaller clubs wont renew contracts, then we will see the emergence of more part time contracts - even for larger clubs in the Championship.

But there are a couple of top flight clubs I can think of where they have used current ST sales to fund immediate expenditure and bank overdraft (rather than next seasons salaries / costs). That detail was obvious from their last set of accounts, and these clubs will, imv, be in deep shite within a few months.

    Agreed.

A lot of what she said seems to put Hibs on the same page as us going by the statement/update Motherwell put out last night. Which is nice.

It kind of feels like the Joint Response Group that Dempster's a part of should be the one that's being prioritised - for exactly the reasons she outlines.

    Also, STATEMENT...

    Quote

I hope you and your family remain safe and well during this period of lockdown.

In this time of continuing uncertainty, I would like to update you on two key areas relating to the football club.

    SEASON TICKETS

Firstly, a huge thank you to all of our supporters who have already bought season tickets.

We are massively ahead of where we were last year. As of this morning, we have sold approximately 1,000 tickets, many of them new season ticket holders, as well as fans renewing from last year.

Those sales compare with 187 in the same time period last year, demonstrating how much our fans have stepped up during exceptional times to back us.

As a fan-owned club, your support is always extremely important, but none more so in times like these. We have no wealthy benefactors, we depend on ourselves – and this is a vital part of our income.

All we can do is try and steward the club’s finances as best we possibly can and to plan for all potential scenarios that we can think of. We will keep you closely engaged in our thinking as it develops.

How the country copes and adapts to the impact of Covid-19 and more importantly, how we defeat it is an ever-changing landscape. In this situation we need to be completely transparent about the total lack of clarity, which still remains, on when we might resume.

We don’t want any fan to buy a season ticket if they can’t afford to. However, if you can, then it would be another powerful sign of our absolute determination together to get through this period.

    LEAGUE RECONSTRUCTION

Now that league reconstruction is back on Scottish football’s agenda, it is important for us as a club to gather as many views from our supporters to help set out the club’s position.

Although we will approach any discussions with an open mind and with a view on compromise, the club board wish to engage properly in terms of any proposed new structure as part of our own process.

The board have already debated and agreed some core principles that we hope will form part of the SPFL’s task force, headed by two very capable individuals in Les Gray from Hamilton Academical and Ann Budge at Heart of Midlothian.

We believe quick decisions can often be bad ones. ‘Something needs to be done‘ is not the best methodology to apply. We should be as imaginative as possible and look at a number of different options – not just the obvious ones and immediately box ourselves into a corner around one particular structure.

Our hope is that the talks within the task force and a vote, if there is one, remain constructive. Any change should make the game in Scotland more attractive to all the stakeholders, principally the supporters.

It has to make the game better in the long term for fans. It also needs to consider the various potential scenarios for restarting the game, their implications for member clubs and therefore how the league and game as a whole navigate it accordingly.

The Well Society will shortly conduct their own consultation with members to help us shape our thoughts on what reconstruction should look like from the standpoint of our supporters as owners of our club.

    Jim McMahon
    Chairman
