  1. It was the 4-1 against Ross County (worth revisiting for Lionel's goal tbh). Some boi.
  2. I could be miles out on this but I seem to remember that the Bowman fee was a profit on what we paid. Not much like but I think overall that deal washed its face. Looking at the transfer business for that season specifically it's a bit weird. As you say we had the spell of bringing in non-league guys but the summer window in particular still seems odd. I don't know if it was laziness on McGhee's part but you had Samson re-signing on top of these:

  4. He really does stop the ball running out for a bye kick...he actually did that.
  5. Turns out there's a transcript of Doncaster's interview up on the BBC site so I didn't have to listen back. I think I've conflated my interpretation with what he actually said: I took it that there could have been an alternative allocation if there was a change in articles and I kind of extrapolated from that. He didn't specifically say that about actioning advances though.
  6. It was only a couple of sentences, there wasn't a lot of detail and he clearly wasn't keen to dwell on it because the obvious question in response would have been "why didn't you put it to the member clubs?" and really his only response would have been "we chose not to, we felt that the resolution presented was the most straight forward" (or words to that effect) which may not have been the look he was going for.
  7. I may have misheard (I really can't be fucked listening back either) but IIRC Doncaster covered that. The gist was that - as it stands - the only trigger to release the balance remaining is the conclusion of the league and the distribution is based on final league placings. The only way to distribute the cash is via that mechanism. Again, it's from memory and I don't think Richard Gordon picked up on it but he alluded to the fact that you'd need to change the articles of association in order to action an alternative method. So they'd have needed another vote to make that change. This is where the SPFL's language is important - and why they've chucked in "viable" when talking about the resolution that was presented to the member clubs. In short, advancing the money isn't possible under the current mechanism however that's not to say it couldn't be done but it would require additional votes on amendments which I'm fairly sure the SPFL board would argue wasn't in the interests of the member clubs given the time sensitive nature of circumstances. From their POV the resolution they put forward was the most straightforward given the articles of association currently agreed.
  8. Velvet Underground - I'm Waiting For The Man
  9. I was also at Pavement. I like Pavement a lot. and if you think I'm diving head first into a YouTube wormhole for the rest of the afternoon then you'd be absolutely right.
  10. For Rangers "bullying" allegations to have any weight they'd need to have proof of someone at the SPFL going full Suge Knight. I'd be surprised (but thoroughly entertained) if that was the case though. Colour me surprised if it's not some weak, dog-whistle vagueness that will get the collective brain trusts of FF/RM/Kickback in a froth but absolutely no one else.
  11. The full game's on Sky Sports through the day on Tuesday btw.
  12. Chucking this in here, MFC Podcast with Mo Ross. The one he did last year was a great listen. Interesting to hear him talking about the young team and the model. Stuff about Cornelius, Semple, Devine etc having regimes to hit target weights and the like.
  13. It was exactly that. Given it wasn't a notable match (for us at least) not the play-off, not a cup final, not the 6-6 etc I really enjoyed watching the full game back. Carl McHugh taking the game by the scruff when we were down to 10 and as @ropy says that 60 second cameo from Semple - the goal itself gets replayed loads but I'd forgotten that it was a move that started at the edge of our own box. Folk talk about meaningless end of season games but that was hunners of fun to watch.
  14. The comment English made before the interview started along the lines of "advance, loan...call it what you want" set him up. It was clear from his nonsense article earlier that he genuinely didn't seem to understand that, yes, the difference in language does matter - which is wild given he's a journalist. I've normally got a lot of time for English (compared to the usual talking heads on Sportsound) but he's all over the place with this and made an absolute c**t of himself here. That was an complete ragdolling...
  15. Live stream of the Dundee game on SPFL Youtube at 12 lads...
  16. Tom English being wilfully thick for clicks. Dearie me.
  17. In case anyone's interested - new Mogwai soundtrack from Zero Zero Zero out tomorrow on Bandcamp as a pay what you want deal.
  18. As far as I'm aware it's the first official confirmation. I noticed it was a point of contention on Steelmen after it had been mentioned in the paywalled article on Robinson in The Athletic. Also, it seems Andy Boles is punting his Match Ready Fitness app which all (?) our players are hooked up to (even the u18s). Given that's independent of Motherwell FC that may be a workaround of sorts in terms of training.
