  1. I see Kenny Brannigan is assistant manager, I must have missed this or just recently appointed ?
  2. Looks like nearly everything is done and dusted........ Signatures secured as Brian Rice gets business done early | Alloa and Hillfoots Advertiser (alloaadvertiser.com)
  3. He will get the ban, I'd be surprised if the 3 man committee would stand up to the media and the potential old firm bias accusations. If the Celtic player had tried to tackle and win the ball rather than planting his foot this wouldn't even be a conversation. Exactly, see that buffoon of a Celtic manager is now saying the ref lost control of the game and that he told his players “ to stop tackling at the latter stages of the game”, absolutely bizarre comments. We all know Sena will get the ban, MSM have seen to that, you do wonder why they are so determined to go after little Alloa though, it’s not if it will affect Celtic in anyway whether he is banned or not.
  4. Wouldn’t pay too much attention to the moonhowlers on Clyde. The always “neutral “ Hugh Keevins was slating Rangers last week for the audacity to question Clancy’s refereeing but this week is questioning if Saturday’s ref has to quote him “an agenda with Celtic” which needs to be looked at. As for the game itself, are we just meant to sit back and applaud them as they run rings around us? The only chance we had was to be aggressive and in their faces, yes Sena could have been a red but the Celtic player shat out the challenge and made it worst than it should have been. The McGregor incident was accidental and as others have said the other injury was innocuous, the whole thing seems to be have stoked up by the MSM, in my opinion I don’t thing across the whole football spectrum has Saturdays performance damaged our reputation in any way. We gave them a better game than many in the SPL this season.
  5. I agree, but I am sure Henderson has more of an insight to what is going on within the changing room than you and I. The point being an obvious baseless rumour about him and his relationship with the manager was posted when a simple internet search quickly dispelled the rumour as rubbish, Henderson clearly has had positive vibes from his time with Alloa, I take that as a positive for our club but I agree doesn’t change much in the bigger picture and our current predicament.
  6. Careful Kieran, you can’t post anything remotely positive about the club at the moment, doesn’t fit the current agenda even if it is made up.
  7. Totally agree Redwedge, Parry deserved way more respect but I think we all agree that his form understandably dipped after his injury, I think if BF had replaced him with someone of comparable ability at Parry’s peak then I could see the sense in replacing Parry and I think we would have accepted the situation. I think we need to brace ourselves for a similar situation with Andy unfortunately. Father Time catches up with us all and with his injury last season, It may be a season too far for him and his body. In my opinion if we are playing four at the back Durnan and Howie look like our best partnership in centre defence. I do hope though that if this did happen, Andy is given the decency to decide his own future. Some great names there McCulloch No 5 but you missed out my favourite player of that era, John Gibson a fantastic left sided midfielder with great pace, he just glided over the pitch, happy days indeed.
  8. Surely nobody can be upset at McDowall leaving (apart from Laughing Gravy obviously)
  9. I see the Alloa legend that was Stephen Simmons has been appointed assistant manager to the not so Alloa legend Andy Kirk at Brechin City.
  10. I think it needs to be recognised that apart from Hethrington and Dick the majority of last years squad has signed on again. Parry, Taggart, Graham, Cawley, Robertson, Jamieson, Scougall and Trouten along with the earlier signing of Craig Howie are all capable of holding their own in League 1 and it was always going to be case of finding a couple of signings to step in and fill the gaps, which in my opinion Durnan, Boyd and hopefully Sammon can. Lamont, Church and to a lesser extent Armour are probably viewed as weak signings, but at this level you are always going to need a few squad fillers that might only play a bit part during the season and along with the youngsters we have coming through and maybe a couple of additional new faces then i think we are well set for the season ahead..............i hope.
  11. I think Jim said he wanted to find a full time club. Fair enough. Signed for Alloa tonight.......any good?
  12. I see Derek Adams having lead Morecambe to the third tier of English football for the first time has left to persue another option............................
  13. Let me be clear that i am no way condoning the above or anything else that BM or BF for that matter have said or done that has been totally unacceptable. However touching on what Redwedge was saying i have supported Alloa for over 40 years now and have seen some real rougues play for the club. Back in the day i am sure the likes of Buck McGarry, Colin McIntosh, Frankie Cole, Lex Shields, the great Peter Lamont and Gus Smith amongst probably many others were upto everything and anything back in the day but the difference was that there was not 20 people standing by with Mobile Phone cameras filming and recording and posting it online within 5 minutes for all the world to see and hear. I am not excusing any bad behaviour and that current players etc should be media savy but my point is that i am sure there has been many players at the club over the years that their off field behaviour would be classified as unacceptable today but was never known about as it was a different time.
  14. Totally agree mate no argument from me. From what i have seen and heard of AG he is the model professional and an allround sound guy, i dont think you would have found any opposition to him getting the job and to be honest there has been a bit of head scratching why he didnt.
  15. I think we all agree with you Moonster but to quote your "They're all cut from the same cloth", if i am not mistaken i think Andy Graham will be more than happy to be working with BF.
  16. Totally agree LG, Alloa existed before Mulraney and Ferguson and will be here (hopefully) after Mulraney and Ferguson, every appointment is a risk, it might work, it might not but at the end of the day the club and life moves on.
  17. Ferguson was on Go Radio last night and when asked for comment about STV reporting he was going to Alloa he was pretty insistent that he had not spoken to any clubs and anyone saying he had was lying, so it may just be a load of crap.
  18. Whether it is happening or not Kelty have confirmed on their Twitter account that he is not renewing his contract, so he is definitely going somewhere. Would be astonished if it was Alloa.
  19. Dont forget little Alloa also looking for a new gaffer.
  20. Heaviest must be Alan Bateman, i remember being at a game in the middle of winter at the old Firs Park watching Alloa V Shire and the pitch in the middle was a quagmire, Batesy went down and was rolling around in the mud like a hippo unable to get up, much hilarity....................was a crap team but good times.
  21. I just think the whole thing is a shame. Local derbies against Stirling have been a rarity in recent times and i am sure we all have great memories of all our tussles with the Albion and here tonight on a beautiful night we should all be buzzing to get along to the game. However in reality both sets of supporters are going to be in reduced numbers due to the ridiculous pricing policy and it is going to feel like a glorified friendly played in front of a man and his dog. I agree that nobody is forcing anyone to attend games but in my opinion that is not the point, i think there are plenty would like to attend but the pricing means that they cant, especially if they have a couple of kids to bring along also. I understand that the club runs a tight ship and have done a great job in hard times but cant work out their stance on this.
  22. Underwhelming, not in the frame for any recent job as I can recall, must be a reason for this, still got to give him a chance I suppose. Bets on the new away strip being green and white hoops !!
  23. Well JG is away now and goes with our best wishes but time to move on. As for his successor, wouldn't mind Martin Canning if he was interested, Alan Archibald..not sure, Hartley.....you get the impression that MM rates him highly but whether this has been diminished by his recent failures who knows. I suppose will also depend if Hartley feels he can rebuild his reputation with us in the Championship on the back of JG doing so well.
