  1. Have to agree, if he doesn't want to play for us. With the wage cap in England being scrapped, the likes of Cheltenham Town will be able to outbid us comfortably. He seemed to be a bit of a hero down there. His agent wouldn't be doing his job properly if he wasn't trying to get the best deal possible for him. It will be hard to replace him, as he is a class player, even if his form has dipped. Although, to be fair, the entire team's form has dipped.
  2. Doyle-Hayes contract offer was a couple of months ago. The most recently reported offers were to Fraser and McGrath.
  3. Met a few Saints players in various Paisley pubs/clubs, mostly in the 80's/90's and they've all been fine. Frank McAvennie used to come over and have a chat, because he recognised me from the physio's room at Love Street. Met Campbell Money a few times and he always came across as a decent guy. Met Hugh Murray in Shuttle Street pub after the game where he scored against Stirling Albion to prevent us from being relegated to the second division. He was completely pished and kept saying that he was a legend. Tommy Turner came to a party, to celebrate Saints promotion in the Tom Hendrie era, at my parent's house, and was a gentleman. Despite me and my mates being absolutely steaming and insisting on numerous photo opportunities. Norrie McWhirter was a really funny guy. Also encountered Dave McPherson and Craig Moore in the Watermill Hotel in Paisley on McPherson's stag night. Think there was only four of them in total in his stag party. They were both happy to chat and seemed O.K. Didn't meet Tony Fitzpatrick when he was a player, but have had dealings with him over the past few years and, like others have said, he's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. As was Tommy Burns. Jock Wallace was a gent too. He was my mate's father-in-law's best pal. Used to always take the piss out of us for supporting St.Mirren, but took our returned abuse of the dead team in good humour. The only one I remember being a bit of a walloper, was Alex Miller when he was manager at Saints.
  4. He had Victor Wanyama in his back pocket in the semi final v the green bigots.
  5. He played a season for Goodwin at Alloa, and there was talk earlier in the season that he was one we had identified as a signing target for next season.
  6. I could be wrong , but I think this was supposed to be a Scottish cup weekend.
  7. That's a decent summation of your posts. Just copy and paste it in future.
  8. I think you are correct. If it was a couple of years down the line and he'd had us in the top six for all of those years, then I could see why you would go for him. As much as I like Goodwin, he still has a huge amount to learn, as evidenced by some of the decisions that he's made this season.
  9. As much as it would be disappointing, given the shitshow we've been through this season, it's remarkable that we're anywhere near sixth place. IMO without it, we'd have had the pipe and slippers out by now and be uncatchable in sixth place, at least. However, we aren't and the aforementioned shitshow isn't the only reason why we're requiring three points next week. even with our run of games in February and the injuries, we should have performed better. What is making me the happiest is our situation off field. I was dubious regarding the Kibble's involvement. However, they seem to have added a layer of expertise and forward thinking, with regards to running a successful business, that we didn't have before. We seem to be on a firm financial footing and have a management and coaching team who are firmly invested in the club. We've also started re-signing and signing players for next season, which normally we are scrabbling around doing at the end of the season at the earliest. We have a significant number of our better players signed up for next year already, although Erwin's 2 year contract might not have been the best move! That all adds up to bad news for our immediate competition for next season, but is great news for us.
  10. I thought Tait was going to stroll the POTY awards at the start of the season, but gradually Marcus Fraser has improved week by week and now he is a standout, he's my player of the year at the moment. Jak Alnwick for me, closely followed by Fraser. McCarthy has been great too.
  11. Marcus Fraser and Jamie McGrath have been offered new contracts. Jamie McGrath and Marcus Fraser St Mirren contract latest as club step up talks - Daily Record
  12. We've got a couple who mostly do away games who are similar. One is spends the game trying to talk about everything but commentating on the game and the other is a supporter who is so biased it becomes quite wearing. I tend to have to turn the sound down. Our first choice home commentators aren't too bad. One of them is Alan McManus, who is our head of youth development. Best I've heard was Jock Brown, who did the home team commentary at our away game v Motherwell.
  13. Far more effective delivery from open play. Tait's first goal for us and our third against the blue bigots both came from his deliveries IIRC.
  14. As soon as Hjelde makes the tackle, doesn't get the ball and comes in to contact with Quaner, then it's a foul. A soft one, but a foul all the same.
  15. I wouldn't say "very good". He was certainly moving into the "resembling a footballer" category, and was significantly better than he has been. Although he hasn't set a particularly high bar in that respect. The 'Well fans were saying he played his best when alongside Scott MacDonald. Maybe we could invest in a Scott MacDonald mask for whoever partners him. No idea what you do if he's the lone striker though.
  16. Indeed. We look absolutely done in. I've noticed that McCarthy and Shaugnessy are losing headers that they would have won easily a month ago. Also, the midfield lack the sharpness that they had. We just look flat. Although, I think the back three set up didn't help.
  17. They might have more injuries, but their squad is significantly larger than ours. At 25 players, only The Fakes squad at 24 is smaller than ours. As others have mentioned we have 18 fit players.* Three are 'keepers and two are young players with about 30 minutes of first team experience between them. What we've achieved over the past few weeks is remarkable, given the circumstances. FootballSquads - Scottish Premiership - 2020/2021 * Quaner only resumed training yesterday, so hopefully he will be able come into contention for Wednesday. Maybe the MIA Brandon Mason might re-appear. The only change I can see is McAllister coming in for Connolly. Hope the shitey weather doesn't spoil what should be a decent game.
  18. A penalty is generally the outcome when shite defenders decide to kick opposing forwards in the box.
