  1. TBH he seems to be carrying an injury more than anything. Quite glad we missed out on him. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the Motherwell thread. There's one poster who used us as an example of a club who will eventually emulate their glorious administration as apparently we're overspending. Clearly no idea of how our club is being run these days.
  2. TBH from what I've seen, we don't have any "match ready" academy players. Certainly none that look as good as Turnbull did or Miller does now. Sutherland looked decent going forward in our Friendlies against the likes of Dumbarton in pre-season friendlies, but he didn't look ready to make the step up. Fraser Taylor, who is 21, again looked good in parts in friendlies, but he also didn't look as if he would be able to step into the first XI. Both were loaned out, to Alloa and Ballymena respectively, where they seem to be doing a decent job. Hopefully, they'll come back and be able to compete for a place in the first team squad. Other than those two, we're not, as far as I am aware, overly blessed with academy players ready to make the step up. Although, when we've been short of senior players this season, we've had a few academy players on the bench, but I don't think any of them have made any significant contribution playing wise.
  3. Sadly, for the most part, that seems to be the way these things play out when it comes to young players with potential at a club like ours, who catch the eye of English premiership/championship teams. I suppose the only positive is that he's under contract for another year. Maybe we're trying to tie him down for longer. Although, that may prove to be difficult if his head's been turned. Apparently he turned down both of the bigot brothers to sign with us.
  4. Aye, because your fan's contributions over the years and recently have been soooo insightful and full of humour. As I mentioned there are a few culprits in our support that match your description, but that applies to a fair few of your own. However, a lot of us just have a point and laugh and then move on, which is generally my approach. Although, sometimes, when I should know better, and I put my hand up here, I overstay my welcome. We've all done it. Anyway, good luck for the rest of the season.
  5. I'm somewhat perplexed as to why some fans are mystified as to why their teams are getting it tight from our fans on occasion. I fully accept that some of our fans have gone OTT. However we've spent years narrowly avoiding relegation or actually being relegated and have rightly taken absolute pelters for it. Now, when the shoe is on the other foot, it seems that the fans who rightly ripped the piss out of us, can't take it when we have a dig at them. It's the natural order of football forums and maybe some fans need to develop thicker skins and roll with it. Granted Lex is a clown and you anything but "shat it" today, and but for the width of a post you might be in the final. I fully expect us to resume "normal service" soon enough and have the piss ripped out of us for having a poor season. Shit happens.
  6. Really enjoyed watching your game today. A bit back to the wall stuff in the second half, but at 2 - 1 down I thought you could have nicked the game. Looks like crosses to the back post are the way to go. Even though we've potentially benefitted from today's result, I wouldn't have grudged it if you had won.
  7. Indeed. Most clubs will have decisions against them that they feel hard done by and have cost them a few points. We are where we are because, after a strong start, we've been very, very average at best. We shat the bed (again) against Kilmarnock and they're deservedly about to bag fourth spot. We also failed miserably against the bottom three teams and haven't really laid a glove on either of the bigot brothers. I think we've been quite fortunate that the likes of Motherwell, Hibs and Aberdeen have been so shite at times, otherwise they'd have overtaken us. I can't see those three being as bad next season. As much as reaching the top six is a good achievement for us, I'm disappointed that we failed to put a sizeable points gap between us and the sixth placed team and that we're not competing with Kilmarnock for fourth place. f we get fifth place and qualify for Europe then we've had a pretty good season. Without the European spot, then I'm in the disappointed camp.
  8. I suppose there was an element of trying to keep up with the opposition, but we weren't spending money we didn't have as we had amassed significant funds ourselves through prudent financial practice. There was no rich benefactor involved, which is very different from the situation I'm referring to today. For the majority of the 80's ourselves and Dundee United were the two best financially run teams in the league by a mile. It was why we could afford to outbid the green bigots for the likes of Frank McDougall. I know it seems unlikely when you look at our financial history since then, but I knew a senior SFA official at the time, which is where the information came from. Simply put we grossly mismanaged money we actually had and ended up potless. The final nail in the coffin was paying the likes of Archibald and Victor thousands of pounds per game. After that the debt spiralled. However, you are correct. I wouldn't want our club ,in its current form, to start chasing dreams, simply because a rich individual fancies playing a less than virtual game of champ manager (or whatever the latest incarnation is called these days!).
  9. With Motherwell and possibly St.J seemingly just about to have a degree of investment to boost their coffers and Livingston about to depart the top league, it would appear that we will be the only club in the league that don't have a rich benefactor. I'm assuming Dundee United will come up and that whoever is in the play offs will see off championship opposition. Looks like it's going to be even more difficult next season to compete financially with our competition.
  10. Better? Not an adjective that your shower of shite have been familiar with this season.
  11. Speak up. We can't hear you from all the way down there. Seems these games in hand weren't worth a f**k after all.
  12. We're certainly going to have to be canny with respect to player wages, as we're going to have to shell out for pitch improvement work at both The SMISA stadium and the Ralston training ground.
  13. Maybe, but that can be said about the majority of his team mates too. Given the level he's performed at this season, I can forgive the odd poor performance and any subsequent errors. He was great on Saturday. Particularly when we were chasing the game at 2 - 1. He was the only player going forward from defence with any real urgency and meaningfulness. However, we should pay him what he's worth to us and no more. P.S. It's Martin Foyle.
  14. I seem to remember that the ICT fans were keen to have Jamieson back on loan. I may be wrong.................. I think Gogic was looking at Europe the last time he signed for us, so that might be on the cards again.
  15. I think that supports my "hardly outstanding" observation. Even Jamieson stood out for ICT at a higher level, and he's finding it difficult at the top level. Would love him to make the step up, but I just can't see it. I'm hoping that Fraser Taylor comes back and has matured enough to compete for a first XI place.
  16. Hemming will be off too most likely. He's been a very important player for us. I'd imagine that Greive and Dunne will joining Flynn in leaving. Brown and Kwon, along with the aforementioned Hemming, will be back to their parent clubs. Scott will be joining on a two year deal. So, with Scott, Ayunga, Mandron, Olusanya and Jamieson, we're probably looking at only one forward coming in. We've also got Offord, but he's hardly been outstanding on loan, so sadly I can't see him making the step up. Being able to replace Baccus, Strain and possibly Gogic with players of the same quality is going to be our main problem. Haven't heard anything regarding potential replacements.
  17. We've also been without Baccus and O'Hara for lengthy periods during that time.
  18. FIFY. You are correct. You can see the posts on here, usually when we lose, with barbs about Robinson or his signings, every time they post. They don't have the balls to admit they were wrong about Robinson's appointment and makes them look very foolish. Long may it last. P.S. I agree with you regarding McMenamin.
  19. If only we'd had the Beaton and Walsh VAR combo yesterday............................................
  20. One of my mates is a green bigot fan who has been to see them v Galatasary a couple of times. He really enjoyed it.
