They'll just not sell the own brand stuff rather than push everything else up. All it does it punish those with less disposable income who have the cheek to want to have a drink. But its not even just that. Take a standard 440ml can of Heineken, which contains 2.2 units. The minimum price per can is now £1.43 - an increase of 33p. A 10 pack, which typically retails at around £10-12 down South, now needs to be at least £14.30 up here. And there is no hope of any 3 for £21 or buy 4 get 1 free type deals as they've been banned for years. It wasn't too long ago I picked up 40 cans in an offer down South for £30. Those same 40 cans would now cost at least £57.20 here. I'm fortunate that I'm down South often enough I can plan ahead and stock up, but given the extra cash is just going into the retailer's pocket it's an absolutely abysmal kick in the stones for many.

There was never going to be an easy draw at this level, but I think that's as good as we could have hoped for. World Cup Playoff places up for grabs from this too so finishing 3rd (or even, somehow, 2nd) would be massive. Looking at League B, the only likely group runner up you'd want to avoid would be Czechia / Ukraine, so absolute NAP that's who we'll get if we finish 3rd.

I’m sure the plan is to outsource all but the first team home games to Thorniewood’s Robertson Park. There are plans to install a synthetic surface and floodlights there later this year. Arguably the first team could train there and / or behind the goal at NDP to avoid cutting the pitch up in winter. There is no rush to rip up the plastic, though, so Clyde’s agreement can easily be accommodated for now.

That would require some thought and consideration, though. The SG don’t do that - they pick good sounding targets out of thin air and worry about the mechanism or feasibility later. In the UK, though, the majority of heating systems use mains gas. So until the Merit Order is removed and/or heat pumps become more efficient it will never be cheaper to heat a home with a heat pump than with gas. “Spend a fortune and increase your energy bill for no reason” isn’t exactly a winning marketing slogan.

Unless the SG intend to fully fund the required work to install heat pumps they simply haven’t a hope in hell of hitting their target. They can get fucked if they expect me to fund it to replace the perfectly good and efficient system already in place. That’s before you get to those who simply can not afford it no matter how much they try.
