I remember hearing about this last season.  It seems absolutely nuts that teams which have qualified on merit for the playoffs then have to pay for VAR (if they get to the final) and hand over 50% of the gate receipts to the SPFL. Not disputing that this is true - but WTF? That seems like a massive amount to pay out for the privilege of trying to get promoted and I can't imagine what the justification is.  If we didn't make any money from the extra games last season then something is badly wrong with how it is all set up.

I believe the justification for it is the SPFL needed the money from gate receipts to be put towards the parachute payment for the 11th placed team if they got relegated. The parachute payment is something like £500k in year 1 and £250k in year 2 and I suspect there would be clubs not willing to agree to the playoffs being introduced if all that money came from their prize money.

Yeah, as debated on the other thread, if we're in a situation where 6,500 had at least 12 points a year or so ago and over 18,000 may have 12 points within the next 6 months or so then those extra points will matter.

I just thought logically if the Hampden App provides this technology then it makes sense to actively use it. Didn't actually occur to me they wouldn't be using it for home games. Does it specifically say somewhere that they aren't?

I don't think they'll have said it anywhere but I know a boy I work with never went to the NI game despite buying the package as he was on holiday, never even downloaded the app to transfer it to anyone and he's got the point for it so they aren't implementing it yet if they ever plan to do so.

Surely they now could very easily apply the same rule to home games? It's all scanned entry now on the new Hampden app. It should be able to tell if a ticket is used or not and update accordingly, or if it was transferred to a non member to use. Whilst I doubt it makes much odds to anything significant, I'd say they should be using it at home games if the technology is there.

I agree they could and probably should but I just don't see them caring enough to implement it for home games when it could impact ticket sales even if it would be small numbers.

People don't seem to care as much about harvesting if it's home games either for whatever reason so until that attitude changes which it might do as those on higher points continues to go up and up and allocations for away games sell out at higher points levels I can't see them doing anything about it.

I was just reading on the TAMB forum that someone's flight was cancelled on the day to Amsterdam, and they didn't make it to the game, so their points weren't added. I didn't think they'd have a system like that, but evidently they do. I wonder if they apply the same rule for home games?

Looks like Gibralter game is collected in person.

There were people who were at the game who aren't getting the points because their ticket didn't register when scanned never mind people with cancelled flights. A few on here have mentioned it in the new SFA ticket system thread. The SSC said in the emails prior to the Netherlands game they'd be doing this as the Dutch FA were sharing the details of tickets scanned and not scanned. They don't apply the same rule to home games and I doubt they have the appetite to either since they probably just want the money, especially for games which don't sell out like Northern Ireland.

  5. Since I'm sad enough to keep a note of member numbers on each points level when the SFA update the tables on the website I had a look and at this point last year there was 6110 people on 12 points or more and now it's 10,489.  Massive jump in numbers.

  6. There's been a fair few in the same boat on the Tartan Army facebook group.

As much as I've criticised them in the past this might be the kind of thing it's worth contacting ATAC about and seeing if they can help since they meet with the SFA and discuss various fan issues.

How is the gate money split from the up coming playoffs are all games pooled or are they split gates per game...

Hearing that both ties will be on BBC Scotland Airdrie home on the Tuesday 7th and return leg on Friday 11th at Firhill..

After the host club takes off 15% for costs of hosting the game 50% of the gate is sent to the SPFL and the remainder is presumably kept by the host team since the SPFL rules don't mention splitting the gates.

@Ad Lib had a post on it early on in the Thistle v Airdrie match thread where I think he said the gate receipts were more than likely cancelled out by additional costs, bonuses for the squad etc or at least that's what it meant for Thistle.

Now we’ve effectively been promoted I can say this without being accused of having an agenda.

The playoff format is a farce.  It should be one up and one down, then second bottom against second top.

As far as the Championship goes this season it’s even more of a farce given that Raith is so far ahead of their third place rivals.

Agreed and felt the same even with us finishing in the lower playoff spots the last couple of seasons. Even just 3rd v 2nd would be better with the Championship having 36 games compared to the Premiership's 38 and have those games played at the same time as the last 2 Premiership fixtures.

Finishing 4th in a 10 team league shouldn't be rewarded with anything.

We didn't shit the bed in Dingwall at all we were  cheated out of our promotion to the SPL by the demands of a play-off system very much designed to protect the SPL club and on the day by a very poor referee.

By the time we reached the 70th minutes when Walsh awarded RC a penalty kick for a handball that never was we should have been 4 goals up playing against 10 men. Walsh denied us the most blatant penalty you'll ever see and a RC player should have been given a red card for a clear lunge on Tiffoney. Walsh initially ignored the handball and gave  the penalty and red card  decisions but reversed the 3 decisions  on the say so of the VAR official. All to the benefit of RC.

According to commentators and pundits his initial decisions were correct and his  VAR 'influenced' decisions were wrong.

I was amazed we managed to get as far as penalty kicks.

I suggest you watch the highlights and imagine its Airdrie playing RC. I would be interested in your opinion following that.

There has been over the past couple of seasons a lot of talk about football integrity well as far as the play-off system  and that particular game there was no football  integrity attached to any aspect.

Are you the owner of this flag by any chance?

Are you sure? They have this dreadful thing called the EU, and for most of its members the Schengen agreement. means no border controls.

I can't remember the last time I saw any passport or customs checks within Western Europe.

Germany are bringing in temporary border controls at all its borders for the Euros and they have already had temporary border controls with Poland and the Czech Republic for a while now and keep renewing them every few months.

There's this dreadful thing called google where you could've found this information.

ATAC went over to Germany for site visits, some might find the information useful. They mention the sections/stands Scotland are getting as their end at each stadium for example which I didn't think was common knowledge.

How does pick up work? I've never had to do that. Do they literally set up somewhere outside the ground immediately before the game or is it previous day or something? Depending on how far ahead of the game you need to pick up there are presumably travel ramifications? Games on the Monday with KO still to be confirmed but presumably evening. I'd probably travel Sunday at some point if going. Actually now I've worked out it's still in school term and I'd have to pull the boy out of school for two days again I'm less likely to go anyway. They weren't happy with taking him out for two days to go to Amsterdam and that was the last two days of term!

It varies depending on how accommodating the local FA are about stadium pickup but generally there'll be a pickup point at a hotel the day before and day of the game and then pickup point at the stadium a couple of hours before kick off.

For this one there'll be people staying in various holiday resorts so there will need to be stadium pickup if they are making it 100% collection.

  14. SSC email out with the survey about intention to go to the Gibraltar game. Not sure why they need to know numbers when the allocation should just be as many as we can sell considering the opposition and location. Also mentions it's highly likely to be 100% pickup.

I said the points gap was false. But let’s say Airdrie win their games in hand and beat us, they are only 1 point behind.(or ahead depending on our result with Raith and whoever they are playing). If we lose to Dunfermline, Morton beat Airdrie and win their game in hand, they are only 3 behind. I don’t think we are secure in 3rd place just yet.

When your argument is based on 3 games going the way of a team and still not overtaking us it would suggest the gap is not in fact false.
