  1. thanks for the informed response on the matter mate
  2. Apologies if this question has been raised before. What would happen if winners of WOSFL (if licenced) declined participation in the Lowland League playoffs. I know it states in the constitution that all clubs must be committed to the principles of the Scottish Football pyramid. IMO the principles of the current pyramid structure with B teams and one promotion & relegation spot are not very appealing. Not something my team will need to worry about for some time but what say if Talbot win the league this year and they didn't fancy leaving the set up below on the right for the set up on the left?
  3. Why do you care so much about how the WOSFL is constructed? Your club plays in another region and will be 100% unaffected in how the league is governed surely? For me personally I was all for WOSFL and don't particularly have any desire to see the SJFA involved or remain or whatever but I can only see positives from recent days developments. Its certainly progress from where I understood things were this time last week, for me anyway looking in from the outside.
  4. Post of the day. The time has come tae just have fitba IMO, same as every other nation
  5. Think we need to edit this into the thread title lol
  6. Can only hope Mr Ronney knows something that I (merely looking in from the outside) don't regards west participation, Should hopefully find out more about it on the 29th at the fans meeting. I personally couldn't care less about 134 year history of SJFA. Take a look East. 3 seasons ago Broxburn and Fauldhouse were in the same division in the Superleague. 2 years ago they went down different paths with this season Broxburn enjoying some William Hill cup success and a recent last 32 tie against St Mirren whilst Fauldhouse currently sit behind Pumpherston and Livingston Utd (no disrespect to either club intended) in the current South Superleague. I fully appreciate that I deliberately picked 2 clubs to suit my argument as one club has a licence whilst the other does not. I also appreciate that it's not an exact science and the West might not look the same under similar circumstances , however if the West clubs were to move en masse I know what path I would rather take.
  7. Uh, these are helmets, mostly infantry. Yes, these would be German as well? That's right. Nothing from the Allied side? No, that sort of thing wouldn't interest me at all.
  8. Father Dougal: I wouldn't know Ted, you big bollocks! Father Ted: I'm sorry!? Father Dougal: I said I wouldn't know Ted, you big bollocks! Father Ted: Have you been reading those Roddy Doyle books again, Dougal!? Father Dougal: I have, yeah Ted, you big gobshite!
  9. Good post. I agree on your last point about LL teams holding their own in Super leagues. I have attended 2 LL matches over the last 2 seasons, 1 at Spartans and 1 at BSC (which was a belter of a game, 1-1 draw with Whitehill W.) and was definitely equivalent to superleague standard, however it felt as though I was at a pre season friendly with around 40 paying fans at each (although loads of youths and coaches in their Spartans tracksuits there supporting the 1st team at that game which was great). You also only need to look at Edinb City papping Talbot oot the Scottish.
  10. For the uniqueness of the story, this has definitely got to be the best thread on pie n bovril. Can totally understand the original Caly and Thistle fans not supporting ICT but kinda baffles me why they would support County, as MacGrafraidh mentions. Would be like Irvine Meadow and Irvine Victoria amalgamating and joining "pyramid" calling themselves IMVXI FC and the Medda fans suddenly start supporting Auchinleck Talbot. Suppose its hard to understand or imagine if you've never had your club snatched from under you though.
  11. I take it this replaced the smaller athletics type stadium that stood next to the Etihad?
  12. Love this game, the 2014 database came out last month. Even starts in June 2014 now.
  13. Aye, her face was tripping her the whole time
  14. I done this a couple of years back when I was in Sheffield, had a couple hours to kill so went looking for their stadiums, 2 cracking old grounds from the outside anyway. The other half was raging, think she had trailing round the shops in mind, not groundspotting lol.
  15. My uncle played a few games for the Peasy (talking late 60s here) but left to go back playin ammies in Paisley (Glenvale IIRC) with his mates. This apparently resulted in him and my Grandfaither no speaking to one another for months.
  16. Would'nt imagine many of our current fans continuing to follow us if we were in any way re-branded / merged with anyone else, never mind B**th, doesnt bear thinking about. Those 2 games you mention were great days out last season, even though we lost them both, remember being absolutley drenched at the Arthurlie game, was pishing down that day. Our noisy support have kinda faded this season cos we have been so poor, we are def going down this season but we'l be back! Keep this thread going, mon the Caley!!
  17. Been reading this thread on and off for a couple of weeks now and finally got to the end tonight. Its been an interesting thread to say the least and until now I have never really thought about the true impact the merger had on what would have been 2 once proud clubs. I don't doubt for a minute a team of caley's stature would have made the climb up through the leagues on their own. You only have to look at some of those clips of their ties against league opposition and the atmosphere inside the ground to realise the foundations were definately there to progress. My god I can't even imagine my team no longer being around, saturday's just wouldn't be the same. Take a bow prs and raybees for your input and sharing your memories, some fascanating tales indeed. R.i.p caley P.s. Did caley ever have a yellow away shirt late 80s early 90s? If so I think i owned it. My mum and dad had known a couple who were origanally from up north and I used to receive the most random hand me down football shirts from their son. Don't think I ever wore any as I was about 5 years younger than the boy!! I expect a bit of stick here as I've either thrown out what would now be a piece of treasured caley memorabilia or i've confused your teams strip with a thistle or clach one, lol.
