  1. I shared a £300 metered taxi with another guy from Inverness to Glasgow last year because my connection from Wick was 20 minutes late. The original train fare was only a tenner, as it was one of those special travel anywhere in Scotland offers, and the Taxi passed by the train we'd just missed just before we got to Aviemore and got to Glasgow over half an hour before our train was due.
  2. After the first 3 sixes, Brathwaite only needed 1 from the last 3 balls. Thrashing the 4th for 6 was brilliant.
  3. Unbelievably, Scotland are marginal favourites...
  4. Hope your arm is on the mend now! For anyone out in Gran Canaria, I'd recommend this: http://www.free-motion.com/en/gran-canaria/mountain-biking-gran-canaria/mountain-bike-touring-gran-canaria/ They took 4 of us up in a van to the highest point in the Island. - just under 2000m, and we cycled back via mountain tracks/ minor roads back down to Las Palmas city - took half a day to get up and down for a bargain 39 euro each all in - including the hire of some good quality bikes/ guide and lift to the top. Ok getting a lift to the top is cheating a bit, but there were enough uphill bits to exercise to give an unfit 51 year old a good workout, and the weather was perfect - 15 degrees at the top, and 25 back down at sea level
  5. Just back from their Manchester Academy show. It was very very good.
  6. Can't remember the last time I've been to a Scotland home game with such a great atmosphere ( well maybe the Gary Caldwell France game ). I think it adds edge to the atmosphere to have a splattering of away fans in the home end, There were Irish fans behind us and there was good banter. The only hint of trouble was when a kid in front of me thought it would be funny to sing the Billy Boys. Fortunately he took the hint when he was told to f**k right off. Told by some Irish fans there should be no trouble getting in the home end in Dublin - tickets sold via ticket master. This will be a huge game
  7. I take it that the tickets that have appeared on sale now are restricted view seats - (in the Lisbon Lions stand next to the main stand) ?
  8. Got 8 earlier today - just went back for a couple more but its sold out completely
  9. Just back from Kilmarnock. Popped into one pub for a pint before the game. Advertising an independence/drown your sorrows party next Saturday. Left pub after quick pint - passed by Yes supporters shop/office on way to game. Open with cars outside waving saltires lots of activists around. Yes supporters outside the ground gave me a couple of badges. No sign of any NO support. Watched game (no comment). Left game. Passed by Cathy Jamiesons office just before 5. Office shut. Yes shop was still open with activists around. Went into a second pub. Pub openly supporting the yes campaign. If I was an undecided voter, and thinking what I should do, it would have been almost everything would be yes. Apart from a whole load of No posters outside the closed Labour office, nothing. Just hope the waether stays good before Thursday. The more people are away from their TVs the better
  10. Encouraging, although the Govt were supporting devolution/tax raising powers, and there was no anti media onslaught against..
  11. Captain of St Mirren, and EBT recipient. Has won more major trophies for his club than your club has in its entire history, etc. Sorry it's "Thommo"- forgot the obligatory silent "H".

  13. Started cycling to work a couple of weeks ago, and enjoying the 30 minute ride along the canal into the city centre. I can get from my flat to the top of Cambridge Street without even crossing a road. Easterly winds have made it good for the journey home which suits fine. Have to say though that for all the money they must have spent doing up the canal, that they could have completed the pathways better. Huge puddles along the way, and some sections not even tarmaced make it less than ideal.
  14. According to bbc news no more bodies found after thorough search.
  15. Passed through Central station about 11:30. Needed a piss, so went into the bar. On the way out, saw the breaking news on the telly. People stunned watching at the bar. A bit surreal. Blue lights everywhere to the East when passing over the Clyde on the train. Horrible
  16. Oh dear - looks like the beeb are asking for more trouble: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24737531
