  1. That's incredible as ten years later, he's a credible shout for ours too. There might be Ionikos fans out there saying the same!
  2. To go so far back might give the false impression nothing good is happening now, and will look weird being prior to our more famous heights. But Craig Brewster 1992-1993 for me.
  3. To be fair if Killie are signing Euan Murray they might take Brad Spencer. Going down the 'knows the league' route maybe.
  4. Here it is then. No doubt more threads will pop up on specific markets or games, but here's one for general betting on the Euros hings. Not seeing much value in outrights but McBookie's 11/1 for no Scotland goalscorer looks a bit long. Availed of that as insurance. Any other value spotted? Any decent offers?
  5. Only speaking for myself here but I feel like yesterday was a bit of a final for our season: the difference between a really good one and a slightly disappointing end came down to 45 mins. Totally buoyant now though. The Dundee games are well worth turning up for and not making a good fist of it would be a shame, but we definitely have 'good season' in the bank now. It's not a 'free hit' and there should still be an expectation to be competitive, but we can go into with only 'good' pressure, unlike the opposition.
  6. We'd be due a few seasons' development if we offer him a contract surely?
  7. Fair play and everything, but the whole point is that there wasn't a relegation - the old club had a vote to admit the new one to the league. It was in insisting that the new entity joined in the bottom division, under pressure to accept them in the first or second tier, that Hutton showed the leadership and courage.
  8. Pagan Poetry Possibly Maybe Triumph of a Heart Who Is It? Joga New appreciation for It's Oh So Quiet as well now that my daughter loves it - any grownup music she can get into, I'm glad of
  9. Sometimes the headliner will pick them though - sorry, I should curate to be trendy - and who's to say the headliner shouldn't determine what's in their show?
  10. The Rovers way. Everyone else cheats according to you lot. Quoting a guy saying the opposite. Some brain on this character!
  11. Probably will get closed since ideas club here hasn't worked out what a 'top five' is
  12. None of these are worse than Kelly Rowland and Nelly, the worst abomination in recording history
  13. Nomeansno - King Tuts 2004 -- every time seeing this band could have been the last with their ages and economic viability, and thankfully it wasn't but it was the best I saw them My Bloody Valentine - Barrowlands 2007 - went two nights in a row, the first was the better, an absolute top tier experience. Amazing. Kraftwerk, Hollywood Bowl 2016 -- not all the original dudes obviously but a peerless setlist and a fine outdoor evening and surprisingly augmented by 3D visuals. Great. Ringo Deathstarr - Sneaky Pete's 2010 -- superb band when firing and on their first UK tour they had their own soundman with them and it made all the difference. Twilight Sad - Bannerman's 2007 -- apparently their first ever Edinburgh gig? Just read that looking up the date. Had seen them at Connect Festival I think (fkn boooo) but this was obv more squashed in and intense.
  14. Get a load of cloth ears here!
  15. That gig was the day Italy won the world cup, and the WP guitarist at the time won money on it #trivia
  16. Wave of Mutilation Gouge Away Velouria Caribou Dig For Fire TBH I don't know them all that well, I dinnae really get on with that Gil Norton sound. Cult of Ray is the Francis album for me.
  17. There's two different achievements in our season that put us where we are. The big headline stuff playing sexy football at Tynecastle and pumping the pars, but also the results we've got with key players missing and extremely makeshift/limited lineups. We have 4-5 outstanding players but really not depth. Just 2 full backs, when you think about it, is insane. So this game could be 4-0 either way and anything in between. I kind of hope we go all-out horrible here, timewaste and spoil it for 90. Give nothing away our approach for the playoffs.
  18. That's all pretty daft eh. You're probably only joking. We've got about the same fanbase as Livi, Ross County, probably more than Hamilton and not far off St Johnstone. For clubs that don't just go radge in their overdraft and hope they find the end of the rainbow, the normal way to do it is work out how much those fans are going to spend into the club, what other income is guaranteed or very likely, and spend about that on their team and stadium (while trying to bring a few young players through etc). There's about 12-15 teams in our bracket, along with those above, and when we're on the upswing we compete with them. Meanwhile, Motherwell, Killie, St Mirren, Dundee etc, even Hibs or Dundee Utd are never more than a couple of bad decisions away from that level temporarily as well. Getting into the top tier is a rare thing and is the very top of our reach. We could build a team for the premier more slowly, but the momentum of just having been promoted was always going to be our best chance at competing to go up. That, or having come down again with a bit of money earned in one frugal premier season. Maybe your pals will only be happy with top 6 but that's 2-3 times a century for a club our size, the majority are realistic about what success looks like for us.
  19. Here - I was about to post without watching it again. But look closely: Parry lifts his hand to Ugwu after the ball's past him. It's obviously not enough to knock him down and it's not violent. But it's making contact with him when the ball's away. With the 'making himself big' argument, that move is done to give yourself a chance of blocking the ball wherever it goes, it's not a deliberate attempt to play the ball. Shroedinger's ball maybe. A defender couldn't use that logic against a player running towards him. But Parry doesn't do that, he tries to play it - yellow card only. Until the hand comes up and plays Ugwu. In a really pathetic way, the ref could have it almost sort of right. 5.55 in the video. Game's gone etc
  20. Far from being just because us jealous diddies hate them etc, it's just giving them an extra means of hoarding players who the other clubs can't then develop. Other clubs whose only hope of competing above their level now and again is bringing through some players they could never afford to recruit as adults. Just one more way of cementing dominance for two clubs. If we have a meritocratic pyramid now, the very least we should be countering with is that they start in the Lowland League. The real answer needs to be that in the interests of a competitive top league (and credible lower leagues worth competing for), this is not allowed at all.
  21. Armstrong's fine there, just a wee bit wee for back post headers. Gives you enough in the forward half to make up for it IMO. Mon. Bit scary to play a huge game on the front foot but I hope we do.
