I'm not opposed, but I'd have to see if the blonde can put in a cross or if it's Hannah and Masson at FB and the two ladies at CB.

Masson looks like he's got a decent rapport with the one on the right so he's right centre back and she's the right back. Hannah left back and the other left centre back.

There has been a lot of talk about our defensive issues and a few complaints about Scott Brown playing there ahead of ‘proper’ centre backs so I thought I’d have a look at the figures between each players appearances at centre back. This is only games they have started as a centre back so doesn’t include any last 5 minutes where Brown may have been midfield but then dropped into a 3 or anything like that.

Euan Murray -  GA every 71 minutes.

    Dan O’Reilly - GA every 70 minutes.

Keith Watson - GA every 70 minutes.

Scott Brown - GA every 74 minutes.

Dylan Corr - GA every 65 minutes.

Couple of things to note are before Murray’s injury which I believe he took into the Partick game and he has been struggling with since, he was averaging a goal against every 93 minutes, it has been every 44 minutes since.

Likewise Scott Brown, after the game against Ayr, many of us said it was time to end the experiment of midfielders in defence but before that game he had only conceded a goal against every 110 minutes. Not much in it but he remains our best ‘centre back’ for goals conceded per minute.

The main point for me looking through that though, is that it doesn’t really matter who we play as centre back, we concede a goal every 65-74 minutes. It’s remarkably consistent across 5 different players.

That to me suggests it isn’t just a problem in the centre of the defence but something the whole team needs to resolve, whether that be getting better at stopping the crosses at source or the centre of midfield providing more protection as well as just our general preference to attack and perhaps needing to seek a better overall balance going forward.

All well and good, but what about Masson... 😉

  3. The result of the Livi match was frustrating, but I thought the performance was fine. We must have had at least half a dozen clear openings where we either took the wrong option or missed a good chance. It was the best I've seen us look since we played United.

Based on that, and the Partick and Airdrie results, I don't see much for any of the 3 clubs to be scared about in the play offs.

What I will say is that I thought Dabrowski still looked a bit away from being fully fit and shouldn't have been playing.

The last known era was the post Aston Villa era after the wonderful comeback when they won 3-2.

That lasted 4 full days then Forest pumped them.

Think we might be between eras the the moment.

Depends on the result today. A win will definitely mark the beginning of a new era at Old Trafford.

I have a sneaking feeling that Spurs are going to absolutely annihilate Man U here.

I could easily look a fool afterwards for saying this, but I have a feeling Werner is going to do the business today. I know he's a bit of a joke figure, but Man Utd are surely exactly the sort of team that even the hapless no-hopers have a chance against.

De Bruyne doing more in 20 minutes than some players manage in a whole match (or more).

I heard them say on the radio before this match that he had already managed more goal contributions in the few minutes he'd played since getting back than Antony had all season for Man United 🤣

Boab makes the cut in Hawaii with a -4 2nd round to see him at -3 after a +1 first round when he went out in the windiest conditions

It's stating the obvious, but it's important he makes a few early cuts and picks up some points. Hopefully he can push for a top 30 finish.

Great signing. I've wanted to see Turner at Raith since his Stranraer days when he looked a real talent. As has been mentioned we really couldn't have got a better replacement for Stanton. Pretty ridiculous we've managed to get someone of his talent in January but that'll be the Derek Adams effect and I'm not complaining.

Another excellent piece of business by Murray, Potter et al.

Same here. He stuck out like a sore thumb for Stranraer and I've followed his career since then.

I can only assume though that Scott Brown is on the verge of becoming a full time centre back.

These two posts surprised me. I posted similar on the match thread. My Twitter algorithm seemed to show up with lots of raith fans commenting about airdrie fans having the audacity to celebrate a win against the best team in the league. Why wouldn’t we celebrate it? Although we are in the promotion play offs, our ultimate aim is still survival and still think that will be a challenge if we get unlucky with injuries. At what point is it acceptable to celebrate a win?

I don't blame the Airdrie fans at all. For a first season up, mid table safety along with having the Indian sign over the promotion chasing side which contains the manager who left you for them and a number of ex players, well that would be pretty much as good as you could hope for.
