We always seem to give up at least a couple of good chances in the opening minutes and then again at the end.

Ayr have uploaded the full match to our YouTube for some reason, fair warning if you seek it out that the sound is absolutely horrific.
Some folk might get lucky and Callum just sounds really static-y so you have to put it on mute

That was an extremely worrying moment when that elderly fella was on the ground. He was eventually taken away in a wheelchair so hopefully he can be make a full recovery. However, I feared the worst when the Jags banner was taken down and placed around the area while he was being treated. The lack of urgency shown by the medical staff was shocking and the man could have died whilst they sauntered to the incident in their own time. Also, in light of the reaction from Jags fans, I thought the referee could have halted the game for five minutes to ascertain what was going on. It was distasteful that the game was allowed to continue when a fan was possibly fighting for his life.
Watching on telly it seemed like the ref started it then stopped at the booing to come to the touchline and spoke to both managers and I'd assume someone from the Polis / medical team then once they all agreed it was OK he started again. Not like me to stick up for refs but other than make a massive scene of running up to check on the fan who wasn't well I'm not sure what else he could personally have done

Tomi Adeloye, Kerr McInroy, Ian McCall before subsequently getting relegated in the same season, a bunch of advertising hoardings where there should be a fourth stand: your boys took a hell of a beating!
Kerr McInroy getting subbed immediately after whipping in a set piece that was just inches away from Jack Sanders getting the vital touch into his own net was a massive relief

Ayr realising ONCE AGAIN that trying to defend 2 or 3 crosses a minute eventually leads to conceding a tap in

Helpfully, this is about 90% of our game plan.
Disappointing to hear. Now if you could just be like Airdrie and predictably overplay it out from the back and constantly get caught in possession that would have been grand.

Had a look there and saw that Partick have opened the scoring against us inside the first 17 mins in the last 5 meetings (17, 2, 7, 16 and 14).
If we can survive the inevitable chance created against us very early on from someone getting space behind a full back and getting a cross in then we might be OK...

That result tonight has given me the fear all over again.

Playing Partick with no Dowds and presumably no Murphy is a bit of a depressing prospect..

Random one but if the Airdrie fan we were talking to pre game in the bar at the stadium who has a caravan in Portpatrick ever fancies a pint down there, give me a shout haha

I mind saying Gadz in the office in Glasgow a few years back and nobody had ever heard the expression which surprised me at the time

Dowds has got the measure of Airdrie, he will score on Saturday

When you consider what Stanger DID get sent off for last week....its infuriating

Massive game on Saturday at Airdrie - hopefully we take a big crowd through for that.

Talking of bets, assuming they both start I think McAllister and Syla both to br carded at 7/1 is value at SkyBet.

The Max Guthrie fans will be disappointed. According to McBookie our 2nd most likely anytime scorer at 9/2.
I mind Shankland was on about 50 goals for Ayr before the bookies started making him the favourite for first or anytime goalscorer

I’d recommend just heading to the bar at the stadium. Away fans are welcome and there’s a little pool table to keep kids amused.
Ah nice one - that sounds ideal, I thought the bar there was only for hospitality stuff. Probably grab a pint and some lunch in Glasgow between trains then just head to the ground. Thanks folks

Ayr fan in peace - are there any pubs near Airdrie train station that I could take my 8 year old in ahead of the game in a couple of weeks? Trying to decide if I'm letting him come or not

While I'm somewhat underwhelmed with the 2 signings yesterday, I'd still say there's a good argument that we are in a stronger position than we were on 1st January, which is at least progress from last January. Arguments for that:
* it's obviously very early days but I'm more confident with Brown and Whittaker than with Bullen
* I'd expect Willoughby to be at least the same level as Rose, always the hope he's an improvement
* similarly, McHugh is presumably a similar level to Senga / Young, and if we are lucky might even be better ar RB than Ahui
* Sanders seems a solid signing who we know from his Killie spell is easily capable of playing this level.
* we didn't lose anyone who will be massively hard to replace like we did with Chalmers last year.
* we 'might' still be looking to add others in February once the manager has had more of a look at what he's got. I had thought there was a maximum of 5 loans allowed but from what I've read on here that's not the case
Had a look at the attached list NareysToePoke posted on Twitter and we are clearly in a similar boat to a lot of teams at our level in throwing darts at young guys on loan from down South and hoping for a bit of luck.

It's McKenzie so probably wouldn't have scored but that's a shocker of a free kick award there
