  1. This guy engages with the hard-right ergo is worth ignoring. AgentP22, I’m looking at you.
  2. This is less petty or weird, but I recall being contacted by a groundhopper, not long before our junior cup final in 2019, wanting to visit for our match v Glenafton. He was keen on a programme. I had to take time off the club before the cup final due to stress. I was in no state to do significant work and was off from my day job, and also hadn’t intended to even be at the game, so I told him I couldn’t do a programme that week, but I would be delighted to sell him our programmes from earlier that season. He didn’t reply or turn up for the match. That was poor.
  3. Being a pedant, do most clubs charge for friendlies anyway? We typically do donations at the gate.
  4. How common are non-league national cup competitions, particularly outside the U.K.? Germany scrapped theirs years ago. I’ve never seen any enthusiasm from the Highland League for one.
  5. Now that would be interesting. Come on, local Ruchazie-ers... Less well-off communities and teams should just stay in their place, clearly. How un-junior-y.
  6. Christ, these forums are far better without traffordab. Please stay that way.
  7. Largs Thistle previously had a social club, where Fiddlers nightclub on Main Street was most recently, though it was a short-lived venture which closed around 1982. I believe Perthshire's long-gone social club is near the current McDonald's on the road to Kilsyth?
  8. When he accused a club official of criminality, he did cross a line. I understand he uses a VPN to repeatedly re-register and bypass IP blocking.
  9. Have to pay £80,000 for toilets tho. (Not being serious I add)
  10. In what way was junior football working for clubs beyond being “the grade” and how does, say, Broxburn, Bonnyrigg, Kelly’s successes in senior fitba counter what junior fitba “offers”? Forgot that the West Region General Secretary made a racist remark at a meeting? I await being called some snake from Largs now, it would bring me great pleasure.
  11. Can someone explain what the f**k that means?
  12. Dani Garavelli is far from a ‘yoon’ - I think she actually supports independence! - I’m actually looking forward to what she has to say.
  13. Glasgow City have an astounding youth programme and are great ambassadors for Scottish sport. Whether it’s right for them to have been considered such candidates in this case, I can easily see why they would be.
  14. [emoji651]️[emoji651]️ Never been north of Stirling in his puff.
  15. Would it not be more accurate to suggest sections of Scotland were "left-wing" 30 or so years ago? You'd be hard-pressed to call Aberdeenshire, Eastwood, the Borders, even North East Fife and Stirling Labour strongholds. Yes, the SQA are a shitshow today.
  16. But Gretna AREN'T the best example of moving up the league - for reasons you've demonstrated. Neither were Celtic Nation. No harm to the current Gretna 2008 committee and support, but the original Gretna were far from popular during their heyday. Ross County, perhaps, would be a better example of what Darvel would want to be. Though they are also in many ways very different, with a whole stretch of Scotland to themselves. Darvel will be interesting to watch FWIW. They deserve a bit of success after 20 or so years of struggle. But I doubt they'd want it to come crashing down within ten years, like at Gretna. Heck, I wouldn't want that at Largs - no matter what short-term success comes first.
  17. Unless you’re ballermk, that’s quite probably the worst possible example of what Darvel could aim be and I don’t know why it’d be suggested.
  18. Douglas Water Thistle. Amateur fitba was played here until at least the 1980s AFAIK? Not to be confused with the all-conquering Douglas Amateurs of the 1960s and 1970s. And yes, I’ll probably do a Largs Thistle programme piece on them one day.
  19. Here’s an obscure one - Wanlock Lads from the remarkable village of Wanlockhead - The side from the highest village in Scotland lasted less than a season - 1947/48 - in Dumfriesshire junior fitba. A later team appeared in the counties’ amateurs from 1977 until 1981, though they played in Kelloholm. By my visit in 2018 the pitch had long been left to nature. Please visit Wanlockhead if you get the chance, the mining museum is a joy. ETA - yes, I know this is very obscure indeed and the pitch is nothing more than a field now. But I can’t not mention the village. The Talbot fans and their 5000+ crowds would struggle to fit in.
  20. Where do you stand on Brexit?
  21. Not that I recall, but Farquharson's defence of the union - he's one of those it's just worth saving types - is a turn-off anyway tbh. Plus he follows AgentP22 and edglasgow59.
  22. Waiting for Stephen Daisley to call him Daddy, or to say he gave up on leadership as he is too guid for Holyrood.
  23. He's willing to enable them to win power. That's more than working with them. Here's one of his new parties' candidates -
