  1. And still we battle on. Five wins on the bounce, six games undefeated, another clean sheet and we're now up to 2nd place.

All we can do is put points on the board and see where we end up. We're very aware that winning all of our three remaining games might still not be enough, but we're giving it our best shot.

We have no game next Saturday, so we can rest up and be hopefully quite fresh for the visit of Shotts Bon Accord, who have four scheduled matches to play (v Darvel, Petershill (or Pollok), Johnstone Burgh and Drumchapel United) between now and coming to Rutherglen, while we are resting.

Hopefully that will work in our favour, but only time will tell.

Surely the system shouldn't be rewarding failure and punishing success.

That's exactly the reason why the WoSFL changed its rules at last summer's AGM, in the event of the Premier champions winning promotion to the Lowland League and no team being relegated from the LL into the WoSFL.

The previous rule was that the third bottom team in each league would be spared from relegation, but that changed to the fourth top team in the leagues below all being promoted, with the three teams being relegated being the certainty.

Which leaves us with the West of Scotland. A league that has failed to produced a licensed winner to compete in most years......

Only once so far. It may happen again this year, time will tell.

This is only the third full season of the WoSFL's existence. You make it sound like this is a recurring issue over decades.

But as per usual from the SFA, the goalposts are continually moving; not disagreeing with the newer requirements like floodlights, and now we have this suspension wi no date on it opening up. That's where the problem lies just now.

There is a well-publicised date for it opening up, i.e. after this year's AGM.

    B teams can’t be champions

I know, but what I'm saying is the test will come when a B team finishes top of the Lowland League and the LL then nominates a team for the play-off who haven't finished top of their league. Will the SPFL accept it ? Time will tell.

Very good detailed explanation and some detail of why the pyramid system is flawed. The Sfa wanted a Wosfl to balance out there structure. I don’t think they expected the volume of clubs to all move over but clubs were reluctant to not move incase they were left out. Then came the obstacles slowly being put in place regarding promotion and relegation etc, criteria for promotion , licences required etc the list goes on and I’m 100% certain it’s not finished at that yet. Then you have the low and league letting clubs buy into their league how is that fair and sporting integrity when they can’t be promoted and it stops others from genuine promotion. It is the correct to have a pyramid system but not under the current way it works

To be fair it was clear from the outset point of the formation of the WoSFL that a Scottish FA Licence would be required for promotion to the Lowland League. That has always been set in stone.

Don’t know why it isn’t just the highest placed licensed club. The LL are doing it as the B teams can’t go forward even if they win the league.

It should be the leagues nominated club not champion club.

That has still to be tested as a B team hasn't won the Lowland League yet, so we don't know how the Scottish FA will react if a non-champion club were to be put forward for the Upper Pyramid Play-Off.

  8. I was down south visiting family today so wasn't at Brig O' Lea, but the updates coming to my phone were most enjoyable. A 3-0 win away from home against any team, regardless of their league position, is a good solid result.

That's 13 points out of 15 for us now, and 10 out of 12 of those away from home.

Add to that the fact that all of the other promotion contenders dropped points today, and suddenly we find ourselves in 3rd place, with 4 games left to play, all of them at home.

We're going to need to win them all to still have a chance, but we have real momentum at the right time.

Most grass pitches will be getting relaid or money spent on them at that time of year. Rugby Park still an option I guess. However given West Regionnow based at Broadwood and the stadium presumably competitively priced for these games, I'm thinking most will be there now

The WoSFL is based at Broadwood, but we're talking about the Scottish Junior Cup Final here which is nothing to do with the WoSFL.
