  1. Would be great if the Arabs would give Declan Glass to us on loan by way of a birthday present!
  2. If you are a Montrose fan, I would skip the podcast until around the 40 minute mark. No disrespect to the rest of the material intended. F.w.i.w. I thought the Montrose preview was a reasonably fair and accurate assessment.
  3. Looking forward to this. Montrose face a side we have a poor record against, while they are in great form. We will need to be at our best and for SP to come up with an absolute master plan for us to stand any chance of taking the wind out of Alloa's sails. If we do take something from this and Cove next week, it will really help our playoff aspirations. We need to be 100% on it from the get go, as Alloa will take full advantage if we aren't. Hopefully having a large and loud home support to cheer on the Mo will be a help.
  4. Gritty performance yesterday. With Alloa on five wins on the trot, they will definitely be a challenge. I watched highlights of the match when they were drubbed 5-0 by Falkirk and despite the scoreline, Alloa looked good, pinging the ball around. It should be a cracker.
  5. Disappointing to lose that third goal. We didn’t play too badly but the Falkirk defence mopped up any Montrose threat pretty routinely. They are a decent side but giving them a goal so early on really didn’t help. A few claims for handball against Falkirk ignored by the referee. If he had given them, it certainly would have made the game more interesting but it was not to be. It wasn’t a lackluster performance from the Mo, just not enough in the tank against an in form Falkirk side. Let’s hope the Mo dust themselves down and are good to go down at Palmerston. At least they get an extra two hours and a half hours to recover!
  6. Disappointed that Montrose didn’t make more of a game of it. Giving Falkirk a goal so early in the match didn’t help. Huffed and puffed but never really threatened. Credit to Falkirk. Their defence wasn’t really tested but dealt with the limited threat that Montrose posed. Our energy levels definitely off the pace, which made this a pretty routine win for Falkirk. Annoying to lose that third goal but I have few if any complaints on the night. Hopefully we can give a better account of ourselves back at Links Park next time round.
  7. Yes we have quite the challenging run of fixtures having had to face Kelty on Saturday before Falkirk tomorrow, then QoS on Saturday, followed by Alloa the following Saturday and Cove the Saturday after that. Midweek games in addition to Saturdays definitely favour the full time teams.
  8. You are entitled to your opinion. I think the facts speak for themselves.
  9. 6:23 onwards if you want to hear it from the horse's mouth.
  10. Is being regarded as a free hit by Stewart Petrie. Will be fielding a team with an eye on what on paper at least is a more winnable game on Saturday.
  11. Here's hoping the Mo prove this little Falkirker's prediction wrong and that his team also make the same mistake of assuming we'll roll over for them.
  12. Close. Squeaky bum time watching BBC website updates before Hester made sure of all three points. Will try to make the Falkirk game. Should be interesting.
  13. Yes, Mochrie was playing too. Another talented player we had on loan. I look back fondly on the days when Montrose made money by bringing on players and selling them to bigger clubs, like we did with Gary Murray to Hibs but the Bosman ruling killed that. I think we have received some money from Martin Boyle's success since leaving us. Loan players at Montrose have been a very mixed bag. They're a feature of the game at every level, so we ought to try to reap some benefit from them. It is a sickener when you do get a good one but they only feature for a few months before being called back, as has happened with Miller Thomson. I also think that they're taking up space in the team to the exclusion of the club's own up and coming players. We want to field a competitive team on match days and this will likely involve some loan players but I reckon Stewart Petrie is right not to overly rely on them. It would be great if some of them would sign for us at some point following a loan spell but if they're good and ambitious enough they aren't likely to want to sign for a part-time team. I would love to be proved wrong about this though.
  14. See Thomson came on as a sub in dying minutes of Raith game.
  15. We need three points to keep our playoff aspirations alive. Hoping Cove and Alloa can damage each other and we can move on up. Kelty will be up for this too but Montrose have been going well and looking for that form to continue.
  16. If my memory serves me right, according to Radio Scotland, for loan players, it's the end of this month but I'm not enough of an anorak to know for sure.
  17. I am not sure how it works but in some ways it does make sense that we develop our own talent ourselves rather than just farming them out to other clubs to do it. Last season we were really stung by over-reliance on loan players who didn't return after New Year. The remainder of the season was a struggle and it seemed like we were riding on the coat-tails of a decent campaign up till that point to get us over the line but miss out on the play off spots for the first time since promotion. Hopefully Stewart has got the balance right this time round but Miller Thomson was definitely a flair player who made a positive contribution to our options up front. It would be great if what we gain from giving our own young players more opportunities at the club outweighs the benefit of doing bigger clubs a favour by paying them to develop their players for them. Even if in theory, it is a win - win, it isn't a relationship of equals when they pull their loanees and leave us high and dry for the rest of the league campaign. I can well understand why Stewart would want to avoid getting burned like that again.
  18. Any prospect of getting other loan players? Is Miller T. definitely out of the picture?
  19. Morton's current score vs. Motherwell showing that we are none too shoddy on a good day. e.t.a. Commentator's curse strikes again!
  20. To be fair, Bamse's nose is a bit of stretch for them to rub compared to Bobby's. The Norwegian version of the former in Honningsvåg is slightly easier because it isn't on a plinth.
  21. I wasn't there but even allowing for Stirling Albion underperforming, you were coming up against a decent Montrose squad who had a tough training session on Saturday, rather than a tough game. In the post match interview, Petrie talks about exploiting the fact that you may have still been a bit "leggy" after Saturday. I would think the performance last night is more likely a "bad day at the office" rather than a derailment of the progress you have been making.
  22. No live streaming option Due to other commitments I don't think I am going to make it along tonight. Hope the Mo can take all three points. Good performances against Morton and Hamilton in the last couple of games. No reason to doubt they can't do something similar tonight by going one better and winning it.
