A whole lot of people reacting to it as if it was, though. At least the Burnley U23s nonsense was started by the club, as opposed to a dozen people leaping on something literally labelled as conjecture in the post that brought it up and running with it as gospel. -

Almost as if this wild hearsay about the actual livelihoods of young people was irresponsible! For what it's worth, considering the form he was in it's perhaps best that friends and family weren't present for a day which could have been considerably harsher on the visitors. -

Sadly I need to tackle the indescribable horrors of Dutch electricity and plumbing if I'm to be punted to the garage outside of the summer months. -

The concrete was in place before Brown arrived and even if he hadn't specifically complained about it every week it's very very clearly had a massive effect in several games since. The effect is going to come off the sea which the ground is almost perpendicular to. If anything two higher stands on either side might make it worse. -

I'd take paying off my mortgage over a vague unspecified sense of dread tbh. Also it would be at the expense of Morten, thus earning at least one point of revenge. -

You can't get an emergency full back. This leaves you looking at players without a club or those currently in off-season. Putting it mildly, managers who have tried that in the past have seldom found league-winners. -

And Scott Brown didn't come to Ayr to eat his mince and tatties and play the same 4-4-2 every week. The defence is a mess because injuries and dreadful recruitment have left it so. The manager could simply rack up a run of defeats and blame them on injuries, or he could actually try to manage his way out of it. Admittedly you're going to get more joy out of this approach if you get results from it, but you sometimes make your own luck. It's as uncomplicated as it is embarrassing, both personally and for the human race. -

In the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king. Probably the same people who were booing him when he was literally still an Ayr player tbf. -

Do you go out and throw bricks at ambulances that you don't feel are driving fast enough as well? Literally the only place I've ever seen a medical situation being dealt with promptly and without any confusion is in a mosh pit. Unfortunately most football fans (especially the one currently suggesting that the paramedics were waiting for this poor person to die) make for poorer crowds. -

Medical personnel famously do not give a shit about people dying. They should make people solve some sort of block puzzle or other test before going through the away turnstiles in order to weed out those whose IQs can comfortably be counted on their fingers and toes. -

QP's problem was almost certainly too much preparation for the oncoming season. Arbroath were never going to be able to replicate that season as even an enormously increased prize money payout wouldn't see their overall revenue compete with the bigger teams going forward, never mind attracting a lot of high-calibre players to play in a pontoon suspended half way into the North Sea. -

Commentators also correct that even a McGinty punt is a different creature now to what it was for so long, even if it would have been nice for the camera to actually track it for the allegedly sublime flick-on Bryden gave it for the third. -

In fairness the audio stroboscope effect that sounded like Callum was absolutely correct about the first Thistle goal. -

Honestly beside myself that the club actually charges people to listen to a stream where the audio is of comparable quality to Alexander Graham Bell holding his new invention up to a cat being drowned in a bath.- 284 replies

Ayr United Football Club have been involved in precisely one (1) promotion playoff to the top flight this century. In their other playoffs (either relegation from or promotion to the second flight) the club has not demonstrably suffered from being in the playoff in terms of attracting players before their rivals. The most obvious example of this is that in two of the three seasons where the club were in the relegation playoffs and lost, they managed to put together a strong enough team to get immediately promoted again. So I ask: what's your evidence? -

Scott Brown doesn't really strike me as the type to unceremoniously f**k off for three weeks in Torremolinos with his phone left at home as soon as the table is called, which would position him distinctly differently from the last four managers. Players should be getting looked at and brought into PCAs as the season draws to a close. The notion that playoffs somehow completely prevent a club with 100+ staff from carrying out any of its usual post-season activities is nonsensical. -

There's no stress. Last season it was a case of having been at the top of the league with the best player in the league and nearly thrown it all away, and thus a chance of redemption. This time it's just free money with the potential of an exciting gubbing in Dingwall to cap it off. And a severely dimished chance of the world's baldest impromptu karaoke in the Hub afterwards. -

To even be in with a potential shout at the playoffs after the first half of the season is a miracle. Couldn't see myself thinking of anything except relief if the team finished eighth still. -

Not convinced that 40 will be enough considering that everyone is dropping points to everyone. The next four games are tantalising though. It's been pointed out that over the same period Partick have got a pretty horrible fixture list, which gives Brown a potential opening for the unthinkable. -

I wasn't buying the notion that Partick had any chance of dropping out of the playoffs but looking at that, that's another -12 on the goal difference. -

That's fairly unlikely given the state of the defence. If McAllister scores every game it'll help though. Maybe remind the Colonel he's not playing for his big club as well.
