Their both proper fans. I've seen Cosgrove at umpteen Saints games, always pays to get in and always sits with the rank and file. Absolutly no whiff of the superiority complex that literally drips off your usual media types. Its no surprise to me him and Cowan are giving a balanced, objective and fan orientated appraisal of the situation. Its a welcome alternative to the Traynors, Chicos and Keevins off the west coast media.

It should never, ever be necessary to passport a new team into one of the top leagues for money. If so then the competition itself deserves to go tits up IMO. Other leagues can do as they wish with newcos, the second the senior Scottish league gives a new team a leg up for a few quid is the day I stop spending money watching Scottish football.

I think your missing the point. Rangers cannot be "killed", they are already dead. What you are "ok with" is a new team leapfrogging two divisions and passing themselves off as a Rangers clone. That is fundamentally wrong no matter who they are imitating. New club = third division (after a fair application process) No exceptions.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rangers/9376851/Rangers-hopes-of-reprieve-in-SPL-vote-sunk-by-arrogant-Malcolm-Murray.html# The expectation beforehand within the SPL – shared by the Scottish Football Association – was that the outcome would be another deferral, leaving it to the Scottish Football League clubs to accept Rangers into their ranks and sparing the top division chairmen from a decision they did not want to make. There were also some who hoped that Rangers would be able to make sufficient case – coupled with a clear and evident change of attitude – for their admission to the SPL. However – and not for the first time in this saga – Rangers utterly misread the mood of the other SPL clubs. The faux pas occurred despite the fact that Rangers had been briefed at a meeting on Sunday attended by two other SPL chairmen and a vice-chairman, who stressed the need for humility. Murray, in blazer and club tie, arrived at the gathering on Wednesday with the frontman for the Sevco consortium, Charles Green – who did not sport the club’s uniform – and Ally McCoist, the Ibrox manager. A presentation brochure was distributed to the delegates. The back page featured a photograph of a Rangers title win with the words “We Are Rangers” emblazoned across it.

Momentous day. I do hope that the SFL ensure justice is done and Sevco Scotland now begin life in SFL3. Surely now half the spl goes immediatly bust, the polar ice caps melt and a rogue asteroid collides with earth causing nuclear winter? No? Does that mean the cockwomble was, in fact, havering pish?
