    We’ve beat Partick once.

I like and admire your case but I’d rather we kept going about things quietly, for obvious reasons. However that ship seems to have sailed already/somewhat understandably given the hype.  I’m not even so sure I can ever be arsed with top league football due to VAR and I’d be surprised if I wasn't the only football fan in the world who thinks like this.

    Changed the Partick part

  2. If we make the playoffs we are the outsiders for a reason and a I accept that. On paper we have the weakest squad, lowest budget, likely lowest place team of the 4. It is unlikely we go up if finishing in the playoffs.

This idea however that we are just making up the numbers, have absolute no chance at all, premier teams will turn us over, we peaked too early. All just seems a mixture of jealousy of our season and complete lack of respect for what we have produce on the park this season.

We play some of the best football in the division, have the second best defence in the league, we have 4 points from 9 so far against Partick (that’s no disrespect to them), our record against Raith is unbelievable, won at Tannadice, challenge cup winners, beat Dundee and took County to extra time in the league cup, cruised past St Johnstone in the Scottish cup (score line absolute flattered them).

So would we be the underdogs to go up? Absolutely but we are not just here making up numbers, the idea we have just peaked at the seasons end is also all wrong see below our form the last 20 games is only bettered by Dundee Utd. That’s not peaking that’s fantastic consistency for over half the season.

  3. I think we lose this game tonight for the simple reason all logic and reason suggests a confidence of getting something from this. Not something I often do is look at form and stats before an Airdrie game and my thoughts are usually based on my gut feelings.

I could get this completely wrong but from a Raith perspective it’s what can Murray do differently? So far he hasn’t done much to change things yet.

Going by the stats on Flashcore Raith have an average of 1 goal a game in the last 7 which will be worrying for them and the game before that was the defeat to Arbroath. We have the second best defence in the league and even when Raith seemed at their scoring best they still couldn’t manage more than a single goal against a tough Airdrie defence. Add the fact the diamonds have yet to taste defeat against Raith and can include a cup win in that. Airdrie have to be confident of again coming away the happier side tongiht right?

Its with those stats I now fear the worst as football is simply not that easy and that leads my gut feeling to say 2-1 Raith. Felt better before diving into the game.

  4. I thought that was pretty meh but after the weekend we just had I didn’t expect it to get near matching it.

That first segment was garbage. Absolute nothing in the 40 minutes it lasted.

Punk and Drew just doesn’t do it for me either would much rather see him lifting that title in Glasgow but I know some will differ.

Nothing dreadfully wrong with the show it just wasn’t very exciting either

Tapped out after the wild Lil Wayne comments.

Trying to watch it on the network to catch up but the version they’ve uploaded isn’t working. Video skips to halfway through the Ripley/Lynch match but the audio is from the start of the event so is about 20 minutes behind.

Tried a few things and isn’t making a difference.

EDIT: A careful spoiler free check of twitter suggests that others are having the same bother. Well done WWE. 😡

Yup gave it up with it around 12:00 this afternoon after a few attempts. Will try again after the Man Utd v Liverpool game

  6. Disappointed with that. We had a real chance to kick the shit out of Morton today and close the gap at the top of the fouls and bookings table but they were just too good. Absolute kicked and fouled their way through 90 mins and I can see them being run away leaders come seasons end. Well deserved but they will be disappointed to escape a red card today which would have sealed it.

Oh well we gave it our best but weren’t a patch on the cloggers of Greenock. I suppose I will need to console myself with a skooshed 3-1 win pushing clear of them in the race for the final play off position. I guess I will settle for that

Nah, I'm happy to take the crown this year, just disproving Glenmavis Diamond's point.

O'Connor's been dropped after a few dodgy performances and Strapp seems to be injured again. Waters and Broadfoot have done well in replacing them though, need the 2 of them to step up on Saturday.

What worried me about Broadfoot was a season languishing in the lowland league then back to the championship I thought he would be done. Fair play if he’s stepped up. I also liked the young boy Bearne who played in the cup game but I don’t know how he done overall.

  8. Will always try and be neutral when it comes to praise for the other team. From what I’ve saw this season against us Muirhead has looked garbage. Not the player I remember from the play offs a few seasons back.

Very very impressed with a few of your guys though Crawford and Oakley to no one’s surprise but also O’Connor and Strapp missing a few games against us helped.

As for the game itself I always feel Morton are a hard side to beat regardless of form or squads and would take a draw. The injuries and run of games isn’t helping though and sadly I feel we lose this by a goal. Would love to be wrong and if we could I’d throw everything we can at this game and Dunfermline next Saturday with changes for the midweek fixture. That’s the 2 most crucial game of the run in to me.

Probably the most boring argument on this website, but if you're so insistent on this odd hatchet men vs well-behaved team of sweethearts concept, you'll be shocked when you see who's closing in on top spot of the official SPFL 'dirty b*****d ratings'.

    image.png.fe4a5e457746caa39f0370bc2a81355a.png

Mate that would have been absolute fine had Morton not been top of that table as well.

  10. Just close this thread. I’ve seen some dreadful ones but this is up there. I don’t know what’s worse the absolute shite patter from some Ayr fans or the fact it’s working and getting bites from our fans who are fairing no better.

Could have given us till next Friday and we wouldn’t have troubled the Ayr goal again. Capitalised well on our poor defending and held us at bay easily all second half. I get some players being tired but some had no excuses (Gallagher, Lyall, O’Connor, Megwa to name a few). Also not convinced the keeper should be around after this season is done.

Ayr absolutely had our number this year 12/12 and made us look shaky at the back can’t have complaints about the results we were not good in enough in the games.

  11. Some folk will never like Airdrieonians because of various incidents in our history and that is absolutely fine and justified. We all know too well we have assholes in our fan base but we are a club with a sub 2000 average attendance. Today is always going to bring out more fans and I couldn’t give a flying f**k about flags or fans singing hello hello in a day like today. It’s all about the occasion and we got the win.

Fans can kid themselves on all they want but there are 3 maybe 4 teams in the lower leagues in Scotland who wouldn’t swap seasons with us. Promotion last year, top 4 so far this season, a cup final that we won, a young exciting team who play good football, a young manager who is getting all the praise for doing fantastic things.

A fantastic season no matter what happens and again just about every fan outwith one or two teams would love a season like this.

Go ahead though focus on some union jacks and a few fans singing their version of hello hello.  Seen a few fans saying why don’t we chase them but I’ve seen assholes in just about every fan base. They are vastly outnumbered by the good ones. Would always rather focus on my own fans and our issues before looking outwards but each to their own.

Said it before I love winning when teams/fans don’t like us. Makes it all the sweeter. Cheers for the read folks enjoyed it. Thank you to those who wanted us to win and to those full of abuse……………..GIRUY ♦️♦️

  12. I have just had a look at the Welsh league table and there can’t be one other set of fans in that league with a good thing to say about TNS. What an absolute pointless division of football that is.

This will be a tough tough game but it’s very hard to gage how good TNS actually are. They only just saw out East Fife on penalties but wiped the floor with Arbroath. Looked impressive enough in the win over Falkirk.

I see the bookies have them slight favourites which I think is about right though

  13. I think I’ve praised just about every set of fans/club in this division since we came up and did the same last year always being respectful. Even with the “rival” sides. Got a lot of respect for a lot of fans on here.

So I start my chat by saying I hope you guys continue to thrive and I hope you make your way back up soon should you guys do down. I love a smaller club fighting against the usual suspects of the championship and have saw my side relegated plenty to know how it feels. Would never wish ill towards any club.

Who knows what the end of the season brings we could lose on Sunday, we are still far from safety ourselves but I could not be prouder of this team and what they achieved. Best I’ve felt supporting Airdrieionians since the early 90s.

Quite a few of your fans gave us no respect the day of the 4-0 game beyond the usual patter we expect. It’s been so tempting to give it the big un back and quote some of those posts. Just want to put out a stark reminder to the ones who posted on thread after thread of ours for weeks after that our “soft as shite league one side who are destined to go back down with the worst defence in the league” have done not too bad.

Genuinely good luck to the club and to most of you who follow Arbroath. In all petulance to the ones that wrote us off after 5 league games though GIRUY.

  14.  I think I could be in the minority of non Clyde fans as I have a degree of sympathy with Scullion if he receives a large ban. I don’t know what’s been shouted at him during the 90 minutes but I don’t ever expect a player to be bulletproof especially with some of the horrible abhorrent stuff fans can shout at players at times.

What has been shouted at Scullion we will likely never know but he had to deal with it better than he did. If it’s something worth reporting to the clubs and having it investigated then absolutely that should be done.  If he wants to celebrate and give a bit of the GIRUY as he celebrates I’m all for that I am all for him milking the win. He can let his frustrations out with his teammates.

What he can’t do though is walk over to the fans the at full time and openly verbally abuse them back and then offer them a fight on the pitch if they step past the barrier. I don’t have sympathy for that part as he reacted wrongly 100%.

That though should have been the end of it. Both supporters and Scullion have to take the decision to walk away and call it a day. I’d assume  they would have after other players came over to de escalate the situation (I could be wrong). Instead a supporter decides to make their way to the barrier and spit on Scullion. There is no excusing that behaviour and that’s an absolutely disgusting act. No justification at all. I don’t know how I nor others would react to that but it’s easy to sit on a football forum and say “i wouldn’t spit, fight, throw a punch back. I’d simply walk away”. In that situation Scullion chose wrong when spitting back of course he did but reactionary behaviour in anger to something like that surely can’t be a surprise to anyone.

Thats why personally I see no victims in this situation. I have no sympathy with the Bonnyrigg fans who no doubt abused Scullion during the game, no sympathy for Scullion because his actions were wrong from start to finish. No sympathy for the mank who spat at Scullion either. Bad situation from start to finish. My sympathy only goes to Scullion if he gets a long ban that sees him out for the rest of the season. I would want to see him punished by being heavily fined by the club and asked to do something that will show he can conduct himself better on the field whilst accepting fault for his part in the situation. Externally I wouldn’t want him given anymore than a 1 or 2 game suspension.

    Just my 2 cents though.

  15. No opinion on the foxhunters or whatever they call it now. Billaway used to always be my pick but it’s a race that has never peaked my interest. Time Leader e/w 50/1 and probably still Billaway despite being about 50 years old.

My selection for this race was always Allegorie De Vassy but The market for the mares chase has me concerned and if Dinoblue continues to drift I think I might bet on her as I feel this will flip flop just before the off. I could be wrong and the rain is the reason for the drift but something doesn’t seem right this morning.

we finish the festival with the Martin Pipe and it’s another race I have no strong opinion on

  16. I say not much effort goes into antepost day 4 as Sir Gino was my only real bet of significance today. With it out of the Triumph I think most people will turn to the juvenile hurdle from Feb at leopardstown for clues. Kargese won well but there seemed to be mistakes from most of the field and with the top 6 being covered by about 5 lengths I don’t think anyone can say for certain who comes out on top. At the prices though I’m happy to take the 4th placed Bunting. Made a few mistakes and hung left after the last but it closed well and I think it will be suited to the stamina test. One from another race that ties in is Nurburgring who finished a nose in 3rd behind Kargese back in December and that’s second choice.

On a side note I’ve also stuck a free bet on Salvator Mundi. Been off the track almost a year and only once raced finishing second in France. No idea what to expect but I couldn’t help myself as that second place finish was a 2 length second to Sir Gino on a heavy surface.

The county hurdle I could tip about 10 horses so will just tell you who I’m on. Pied Piper small play antepost but nothing significant and 4 pounds up from last year on a heavy surface I’m not confident. Big hope is Kingofkingsfield. Not sure how good it is but third last time out behind the supreme and Ballymore winners is hopefully top form. My other bet is Magical Zoe who has good form, did well in the mares novice last year and is proven in the conditions

Albeit Bartlett will keep it simple again. Captain Teague third in last years bumper behind Dream To Share and the impressive Fact To File and has a grade 1 win so hoping it’s a top class horse. Dancing City who was has looked very impressive in recent starts and proven in conditions too. Hardest race for me though this one.

Gold Cup is GDC’s to lose but at prices I have stumped for Corach Rambler (although 4 pounds better off) it bravely beat Fastorslow in last years ultima then went on to win the National. I have also had an e/w punt on Nassalam who continues to shorten in price. Will love conditions and cantered the Welsh grand national so worth a go to me.

All sentiments will be null and void tomorrow when my Lichties travel to Airdrie tho 😄

Haha oh absolutely no friendship when there’s 3 vital points up for grabs tomorrow

  18. So it’s Gold Cup day and this is a day I don’t often put much effort in antepost. Some very tough racing today (perhaps not the main event itself).

Been happy to share my selections but realise I haven’t put up why I’ve backed them (the posts were long enough) so thought I’d do that on the last day.
