No love for Gretna and I suppose they are a different beast now but if I was on BOD or committee whoever runs them I’d be kicking up a great deal of fuss if the team were relegated to, in essence, accommodate a B team! That’s outrageous, although others may rightly argue that it serves them right if they voted for them in the first place (did they?).

Nobody can kick up a fuss as this situation was on the cards at the start of the campaign? Very tough if happens but i really can’t see it.

If a Lowland area team comes down - Clyde, Stranraer or Bonnyrigg, the only sides that can finish bottom - but EK don't go up, then there would be 19 clubs in the LL, so they would relegate 2 clubs instead of 1. In short, if Buckie win the play-offs, Gretna get relegated.

    Thanks, see what happens.

The SPFL Four have finished this season in the bottom half of the Lowland League, behind Cumbernauld Colts, Civil Service Strollers, the two B teams and the three ex-Juniors. Edinburgh Uni will be going down, maybe Gretna too. At some point Beith will stop c*ck-blocking the WoS and then the likes of Clydebank, Talbot and Pollok will come up. The league gets tougher every year and even if you win it you only get a play-off for a play-off.

Albion Rovers nearly survived last season, they got 39 points, and they've just finished 9th.

When you say maybe Gretna too. What’s that scenario please ?

Our Board of Director is best pals with Murphy. I wouldn't be shocked if he rocked up here. I expect he'll have his faults but from the outside looking in he's done incredible things at Annan and sets his side up not to shitebag draws/defeats. I'd happily take a punt on him.

Your board of director ( is that the case ) is he saying much ? I believe best pals with the Irishman. I think our manager next season will be better, not only for the first ( sorry only ) team but for the club in general.

I'm not trying to be funny (for once), I promise you, but do you think that maybe Bartley suffers from a narcissistic personality disorder, a la Donald Trump? He never seems to accept responsibility for his failings, it is always somebody else's fault etc. etc.

Seems you don’t need to try IMO try closer to home with Humza and his cronies? I’ve listened to enough Bartley interviews now to give my the dry boak. The proper Queens fans have said all they can. I’m in the glasshouse too and far from a fan of Murphy so feel the pain.

I agree they need some intermediate team or teams from youths to 1st team.

I do see they have an under 17 team just now - after this give them good coaching and in a more senior league.

The clubs focus rightly or wrongly is on the first team which is in line with most supporters rather than the nepotism of youth football.

Nepotism, favouritism, pick the big boy has been the downfall of Scottish football for decades now, both at club and international level. A club like Annan ( as guilty as any ) now more than ever must and can change with strong leadership and vision.

All about progression and what's best for your club.

Threave and Dalbeattie were quick to follow Annan East.

Annan need to have more than 1 team playing every Saturday to progress IMO. No local lads are getting a chance to move from youth, and any showing any promise need to move away with the present set up.

Pretty certain they will join the SOS.

Have read on West forum last year that if Gretna wanted to join WOS or EOS, they would have to apply and enter at bottom tier.

So south it is, not wishing relegation on them but any additions to our league is a positive.

Might even have Stranraer joining in a few seasons.

Gretna appear to be working hard with youth development, the SOS League is the best place to go for me. At least Stranraer are in the League, surely a team from Annan and QOS. Would also add to it and enhance interest  development?

I don't intend to come across constantly criticising the SOSL 'blazers', they are working with the products at their disposal and of course there are limits to what they can do.

I do feel that there is a desire amongst SOS fans to support these special occasions; as is highlighted by the attendances at these games. I was at both Development League Cup matches between Lochar and Threave which were both extremely well attended at the Campus and Meadow Park; in excess of 250 at both, which again shows there is a market down here for the games.

Having come from the Central Belt I do feel the marketing from the SOS could be improved upon compared with what I witnessed up home. Not suggesting how, I am but a lowly engineer so not my area of expertise.

When I was attending regularly before my 'sabbatical' in October, I did sense an increased interest with Star coming home so to speak, wonder if it would actually be beneficial for the SOS if Gretna joined the party.

Hopefully whomever Star entertain at Islecroft in the play-off it is marketed by all. At the very least would like to see all our clubs social media advertising the game. (same applies if Creetown come out on top of course).

Came down in 2018 and pretty sure it was Castle Cary then, does the land not belong or did belong to the owners of the adjacent holiday park, hence the name.

If Gretna finish bottom is SOS League automatic, or have they another option to consider?

Says who? It's undeniably been a shambles of a season. We should as a minimum, have been in the promotion playoffs and not still looking over our shoulder. The idea we have a bigger budget than Falkirk though sounds nonsense. I'd imagine we'll also be behind Hamilton.

He’s being silly, there is no way QOS had a higher budget tan Falkirk, Hamilton Cove maybe more ? There is no doubt the Bartley project went badly wrong ( which no one wanted ) It’s going to be a hell of a fighting finish though.

Yes EK will win the League.

HL v LL playoff will be tight but I think EK will edge it.

The winner will probably face Bonnyrigg Rose.

Rose are on a really poor run and have managed to get only 2 points in their last 8 games.  Stranraer managed 7 and Clyde 13 in their last 8 games.

Stranraer v Bonnyrigg today loser to go down IMO if a draw i still think either of them for the drop.

All of the 4 teams mentioned in this thread has destiny in their own hands...it's all about bottle & desire...some teams have it & some don't...I see lot's of it in my own team...the run in take care of itself..nobody can have any excuses over the season...but i think we have enough in the dressing room to stay up & a great leader as captain to set the standards

You must be up at Wiilies monument for inspiration?

In other words, you fancy him and have given him more credit than he deserves. Even now you can't be objective. He has no oratory skills whatsoever nor have i seen evidence of this supposed intelligence he has over our previous managers. If you actually listen to his interviews, he drones on in a monotone until he gets bored or the interview runs out of time. At the beginning of the season, when his message was positive, i didn't hear any conviction or passion in his voice. It was as if he was reading the ingredients on a pack of biscuits. George Galloway is an example of a talented orator. He could read a list of ingredients and make it sound like poetry. I know i'd switch off if i had to listen to Bartley droning on in training everyday.

Oh yes hes not even a good orator, it’s like listening to Michael Beale, Humza and Sturgeon rolled into one. At least we have just a gobshite Irishman to bare each week.

You've been in and out of our threads all season (though rarely in the actual match threads before this one) with your sore shoulder and yet when you finally win your cup final, instead of enjoying it you seem more focussed on being upset with my posts.

    Bizarre.

    Detective now I’m impressed.
