Really good debut topped off by his goalThis aged well[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]4 -
Layne was far too isolated in the first half and as a result he was getting nowhere near passes or clearances, so Peterhead were able to control the game
Getting one back just before half time was critical as it allowed us to regroup but with hope for the second half
Once we got scullion, McKee and crossan closer to Layne we were much improved and probably could have scored at least one more
Great set up at Peterhead and made to feel welcome
The win definitely made the journey worthwhile2 -
Not much interest in this one
Making the long trip up north and hoping Peterhead are worse than us

Bit of both I'd say... very much a confidence player, but don't expect him to get past his man if you play him out wide...he won't even tryOn a slightly different note seagal is he good or pish.....personally after watching him after a few games i say the latter.....
keep your chins up guys it's not a barrel of laughs up Airdrie way either. We got an undeserved 1 nil win against Accies boys and they rode us senseless all second half.
Play him through the middle though and give him chances...he will score
Ended up our joint top scorer last season with 16 odd goals0 -
Personally I blame the plastic pitch... shouldn't be allowed in professional football [emoji2957][emoji2957]

We didn't park the bus last week... we're just lightweight up frontFTFY. Raith squeaked a win against a Dumbarton side parking the bus last week. I'm expecting more of the same today.
Would like to see Tidser, Connolly and Telfer with sone quick passing and movement.0 -
Saw Dom Thomas as I was in the queue at the turnstiles...just sayin

He was fine without being outstanding...that said we definitely tightened up at the back when he came inWas Brian McLean any good last season? We’ve got him on trial but I seem to recall him getting a bit of a slating on here after his performances for Dumbarton, unless if I’m confusing him with someone else.3 -
Surely ear plugs are the answer.. everyone's happyMakes me uneasy to learn we’re losing (very) longstanding fans over a drum - particularly given the fragile state of the football club.
There has to be a compromise somehow that keeps everyone reasonably happy.0 -
Gallagher is a hard working player who will score if chances are made for him. If you play him as a winger you'll be disappointed...he can't beat his manAlly Roy and Callum Gallagher any good?
As for ally Roy.....tbh..i can't really remember him that well...he is probably most remembered for a guy on here called rangeman who may or may not be related to him0 -
I know the final table never lies, but thought it would be interesting to see who took the most points off us this season compared to their final league position
Vs Dumbarton FC
1 (3) Raith Rovers 10 points, +9GD
2 (2) Forfar 10 points, +6GD
3 (9) Stenhousemuir 7 points, +1GD
4 (10) Brechin 6 points, -2GD
5 (8) Stranraer 6 points, -2GD
6 (1) Arbroath 5 points, 0GD
7 (5) Airdrie 4 points, 0GD
8 (4) Montrose 4 points, -2GD
9 (7) East Fife 0 points, -10GD
perhaps not surprising to see Raith and Forfar up near the top, but the fact that Stennie and Brechin fill the next two spaces is weird, while Arbroath only the 6th best team we played

We're only worried about avoiding the relegation playoffsNot saying Dumbarton were time wasting or anything, but seemed to be quite content with a draw at the end. Would a win not keep them in the playoff hunt?
Think the players realised if we lost a late goal we would really be in the shit0 -

You got a picture of Brian McLean?Does he look a bit like Brian McLean?0 -
That's the guy

There was a guy warming up with Beany before the game...he sat in the stand and watched the gameI had heard there was a new player on Saturday and am also 99% confident this guy was in the stand on Saturday. As was Jocky Scott for whatever reason.
No idea who he is but rumoured to be signing this week
Looked like a defender0 -
It would need to be club legends rather than guys who played ten times over two seasons
I see no issue in the birthday thing, it can only help the knowledge of DFC’s next generation, as it does me, reading about the players that are posted on here, by ok1, and howlin wilf for example.
What if the club invited a lot of these guys to the hospitality, do we think we’d sell it out more? Just a thought, happens at ibrox/parkhead
I'm thinking of guys like Craig Brittain, Paddy Flannery (recent fb posts aside), Andy Brown...0 -
I see that we're doing a deal where ST holders can bring a friend to the Stranraer game for half price.
Good idea imo, especially given Stranraer will likely have one of the smaller away supports in the league. Hopefully a few extra folk come along - especially with it being a few days before Christmas, with hyper weans in the house.
It's a great idea but maybe would have been better to try avoiding the cheaper hospitality day? I would imagine quite a lot of the people going will be season ticket holders, so perhaps limiting the take up for this particular game?0 -

He was on the bench..but only as extra pair of eyes to help out Durrant and EwingsCan anyone confirm if Craig Barr actually was on the bench yesterday? He's not fit

I wonder if the board are being cautious about getting rid of Stevie because they don't want a reputation for being trigger happy. This could clearly affect our ability to attract a good quality manager
Perhaps this is why they are not rushing in to sack him just now during what is clearly an injury crisis0 -
Question...did Andy Goram grow taller when he played for Rangers (RIP) and Scotland?I saw him play 7 games for the dev side last year, 1 game for the 1st team and he looked a far better keeper than Lennox or Smith. Out of the dev side he was the one I thought had the most potential.
Having now seen both McGuff and Wright in action Ive got no doubt who I'd rather we had in goal tomorrow.
You question his height yet he's the same height as Andy Goram was when he played for Oldham and Hibs. Was he too small to be a top class keeper?5 -
I don't think he's as good as Ralston..solid player, but can have a heavy first touch, and has spent a fair bit of time injuredI'd be amazed if that were true. Delighted but amazed.
I would say he's a championship level player, but perhaps not good enough for the top league
Would happily take him back though0 -
A non-Sons fan has just asked in the match thread why we appear to ALWAYS have players out with injury. Rather than derail the match thread, I though I'd raise the question here - why is that?
Is our physio poor?
Do we not warm up/down thoroughly?
Is it the state of our pitch?
Is it something we do in training?
Do we just make a bigger issue out of having players out than other teams do? (Perhaps because of the smaller squad)
Something else?
To be fair, over the last few seasons we've signed players with injury problems who were unlikely to have signed for us if they'd stayed injury free....and more importantly most remained injury free
It seems however our luck ran out this season, and I would guess some of the guys have played through niggling injuries to make up the numbers0
