  1. That's the Spartan's young team from behind the goals.
  2. Still think they will be too good for Spartans.
  3. That was/is my suspicion. Some teams will be invited. Also, like others have said, I doubt many of the Highland League teams would be keen to join. I get the impression that only Brechin and Banks O' Dee would be keen.
  4. Just to be even more pedantic, dogs love eating carrots. Maybe even more so than donkeys.
  5. Good luck today. Hopefully see some happy Brechin fans in Edinburgh after game.
  6. Not sure. We get to Berwick about 14.11 hours. Maybe get taxi to ground and have a drink there. They are doing a deal £15 for entry, drink and food. We are in Belushi's just now. Not seen any Brechin fans yet.
  7. Will this be our last match of the season? New manager bounce? In the pub in Edinburgh before catching the train later to Berwick. Fingers crossed.
  8. I don't recall anyone on here saying it was. The likely changes will just encourage them to vote for it, as it is a better option for them financially.
  9. Still better for them than going straight to the Lowland League. They have at least one season to get their act together and the same money each season they are in it. I would think that the parachute payment might still be there for relegation into the Lowland League, although maybe less money, as two could go down. Also think they would still get in the League Cup for one season if relegated into the Lowland League and same as now for the Challenge Cup.
  10. Yeah, but still a much better option than going to the Lowland League for them. They will get money in the conference (not sure if I am imagining this, but I believe it is £40k each year) and they will potentially only have five teams to beat to get back up to League 2. Whereas, dropping to the Lowland League ( or Highland League) gives the relegated team £40k in year one, £20k in year 2 and nothing after that and there is, unless I am mistaken, no prize money of any sort in the Lowland League. I would guess that a Conference team would also be in the League Cup. Whereas, the relegated team from League 2 only gets in the League Cup for the first season out of League 2. Basically, the sponsor money dries up. This weekend the Lowland League cup kicks off and the away teams get none of the gate money (not that it will be much, but it all helps). An away draw is another financial hit.
  11. For them, it will be seen as a much better option. More money than the current format and less competition to get promoted back up again.
  12. I think Brechin will beat Spartans, but I think it will be tough against the League 2 bottom team. Bonnyrigg have hit a bit of form (although not scoring many), Albion Rovers create a fair amount of chances, but are just a bit hit and miss. They could miss them all, or they could score 5. I think Elgin might be the easier to beat, but again, they can be good at home when they put the effort in.
  13. Every team (with the exception of the bigot bros) should quit the league and form a new league set-up with a proper and fair pyramid, where the bigot bros and the b teams are not invited. Time for real change. It might be a struggle to start with financially, but it would get there in the end. See where that leaves the bigot bros when nobody wants them.
  14. That's the problem. It was never a pyramid review. It was just a review of how to burden us all with b teams for the longer term.
  15. Yeah, until they have another vote in the future, pushing for the B teams to be free to move up or down the leagues as high as the championship.
  16. I heard that Davidson is playing himself upfront tomorrow
  17. Yeah. Not convinced he will be any good, but we can't afford much.
  18. He took Tranent up to the Lowland League and quit. Not sure why. He then went to Penicuik and they are poorer this season than they were last season.
  19. Not ditch themselves. Ditch the bigots. A campaign should be started to form a new league set-up which excludes the bigot bros. The game in Scotland has suffered for too long for the benefit of the bigot bros.
  20. I wasn't thinking in terms of Sevco forming a league outside the SPFL. It would be the other non b teams. If someone with money came along (not that this is at all likely), then most of the league teams in Scotland could move to a new league set up. In fact, why don't they all do it and ditch the bigot bros, then apply to UEFA to replace the SPFL/SFA? Ditch the bigots. The Central Football League was just an example of where it has been done before, on three occasions.
  21. Slightly pedantic, but the SFA or SPFL cannot stop anyone setting up a football league. They don't own football. Anyone can set up a football competition or tournament etc. The teams would just be separate from any SFA, SPFL, UEFA or FIFA competition. You can look back to the old Central Football League formed in the late 1800's and run on three separate occasions. It actually rivalled the Scottish League at the time and as it did not have to abide by their rules, it attracted some of the top players by offering them more money.
  22. I won't even bother attending tomorrow.
  23. I seriously hope we didn't vote yes on this one.
  24. Well done Spartans. Thought it was funny when all the kids ran out of the mini pitch cage behind the goals to celebrate with the players at the corner flag when Henderson scored and the young team all ran from the far end of the stand to join in.
