  1. Fair comment but at this level (and in most of the games I've watched in the league above us) are there many midfielders who can do that? I'll settle for a hard worker who makes and scores goals and gets in some telling tackles. Kelly fits that description for me and, as a young lad learning his trade, that'll do for me. Meanwhile, I've genuinely moved on from him and I can't wait for us to start playing again - always the same for me at this time of year.
  2. Tbf, Kelly in particular was/is a bit above Championship quality
  3. I'm predicting Drinan (more in hope than expectation right enough)
  4. ....and Kelly is easily good enough to be playing at that level. Of course, he's not a hammer-thrower so that might be an explanation. Okay, lads, point taken - happy to move on and leave my gripe about these two not playing for another day/season!
  5. Off topic from the above but.....Kelly and Doohan unused AGAIN today.....Scottish football, wasting young talent over and over.
  6. Hand in the air here - I liked Geggan a lot and especially when he weighed in with a few important goals every now and then. I loved his goal celebration against THEM and that's still a great memory for me. He is/was streetwise for this league and was part of the team that scudded DU at Tannadice. Sadly, for him and me, I think his time has come - he was subbed too many times last season and that tells its own story.
  7. Two very good signings imv (well done to the club) - both have the right qualities for this league and have done well at their previous clubs. Remains to be seen if we can get a settled formation in place as quickly as possible but Kerr seems to know which players he wants and for which positions. Another decent goalie must be at the the top of his list by now but I'm hoping someone like Drinan (if not the man himself) is also a priority for the striking role. COYA
  8. If we get loan signings of the quality of Kelly (especially), Doohan and Drinan (as 3 good examples) then I'll start to believe we have another good chance of finishing high up this league. I know that's a big ask but so is replacing Kelly, Forrest, Docherty, Harvie and Doohan - I'm certain Kerr is very aware of that. I take comfort from the fact we did alright after losing Shankland, Crawford, McDaid and Rose from the team that won the league and did well in the Championship the following season. There's not many clubs at our level/budget who would survive that kind of disruption.
  9. I have my doubts about Harvie staying tbh but I'd also like to think we're signing players who are not restricted to playing in one position only. I can dream
  10. I read that differentl;y - both Rose and Harvie came to US looking for first team footbal
  11. You're maybe right but I think McCall would have dragged them over the line somehow and though they didn't have many wins, they weren't ever hammered if memory serves (apart from when they played us at Somerset ).
  12. Hertz were 'at it' and we all know it. Thistle (well most of their fans) seem to be taking their mediciine, albeit reluctantly and, to be fair, I think they had far more chance of surviving in our league if played to a finish than Hertz ever had in the Self Preservation League (thus behaving accordingly). Get it up ye, Jambos, and welcome to our world - something closely resembling how Scottish football fucks the wee teams outside the OF.
  13. Having met the guy and chatted to him at length in the HS in recent times, I'd have absolutely no problem in having the Doc back if Thistle implode or renege on the PCA. He's an excellent professional and intelligent with it (not something you find a lot of in football). I didn't get the chance to speak to him again after he signed his PCA but if I had I would have wished him all the best for the future. He's a top guy and deserves our best wishes.
  14. ...and very well said too. Mr Chairman. I certainly don't agree with a lot of the (political) things he posts on Twitter but on this, he's on the money. Rangers and their toady supporter at ICT can go and f**k themselves as far as I'm concerned.
  15. The SPFL should hound them for this nonsense. And ICT have a case to answer too. What has Scottish football come to, ffs!
  16. I'm hoping you're basing that on some good intel. All three will go on to greater things but I've loved seeing them all playing for Ayr and I hope they've lloved it too becasue it could mean you're right. One thing is certain, if we do have them for another season and get Murdoch back while replacing wee Forrest with someone just as good, we'll be up the right end of the Championship again.
  17. I think Kelly would benefit from another season in the Championship especially as his parent club are going through a few troubles of their own - who would want to be there while all that is going on? But I'want us to be looking for good replacements for Forrest and Doherty as they may well prove what some don't realise we had until they've gone. Plus, in no time at all, that's us lost very good players in Crawford, McDaid, Smith, Shankland, Rose, Forrest and Doherty - add Doohan and Kelly to that list and it could be 'Houston, we have a problem'. time. All of the aforementioned have gone on to or back to (arguably) bigger clubs so good luck to them all. Getting Murdoch back fit and maybe holding on to a couple of the loanees could prove decisive but I think we need to be very active and successful in the transfer market sooner or later (or whenever this virus permits). if we are to progress from here. Come on you Ayr.
  18. Just a thought - would the SPFL (or whoever!) sanction closed door matchs being streamed live to 'interested' fans? I'm certain AU Media could stream a close-door match and make the revenue from that available to the 2 clubs involved.
  19. Agree - and how many years have we been saying that? It'll only change when the bigot brothers go off and play in another league. Never say never.
  20. Love any away day in Dunfermline or Kirkcaldy - both excellent provincial towns whose fans I can associate with win or lose.....at the pub especially. Like their grounds too even if we haven't always done well there. A bit like the Stranraer comment above, just a good football feeling when I'm in either town.
  21. It's bad enough having a pandemic - why don't you stay isolated in your rat infested hole twelve miles up the road., kiliescum
