  1. The Coatbridge Shamrock Rovers guy apparently. At least some people in the discussion linked above understand that's likely to be a one way ticket to being the next Baillieston.
  2. Should have added some pictures given the thread that is involved:
  3. The way I heard it Bobby Shearer's father, who was the groundsman, used to keep the grass unusually long and that helped to stop the soil from freezing as much as it might have otherwise.
  4. Now that Celtic's Highland League tribute act have a trip to Parkhead with 50% of the gate coming their way they won't be short of money for bolstering their squad where the title race is concerned.
  5. Some WOSL premier clubs like Beith and Troon (?) will have already started in the licensing system before the SFA stopped accepting new applications, so it's not necessarily safe to assume that no other clubs will achieve licensing soon.
  6. So people don't have to try to find it. Edit: having watched it a few times don't see how you can give a straight red for that because there's no way you can claim he's straight in on goal with a solid goal scoring opportunity.
  7. The B teams have to be voted in each season and some well-connected podcaster types seemed to think they would not have been voted in for this season if the SFA board hadn't been making threats related to creating a new ten team fifth tier Conference division for this season. Given the Conference was subsequently not voted into membership at the SFA AGM because the SFA board realised they were going to lose the vote, there's no obvious reason why the B teams can't be punted from the LL once and for all early in the new year.
  8. Never knew that Royal Albert scored the first ever penalty:
  9. Maybe the issue is that they reach 12 and run out of fingers? I would add to welshbairn's take on this that once you have decided on how much of the crowd approximates to ten groups of ten. It's not so difficult at most games beneath Championship level to guesstimate to the nearest hundred after that.
  10. Aberdeen to Dundee always seemed like a bit of a trek to me when I travelled it quite a bit by Stagecoach bus back when dinosaurs roamed the earth so don't find that particularly surprising given the mentality a lot of Aberdonian seem to have that anything south of Stonehaven is terra incognita in a here be jakey wasters sort of way compared to anything NE over towards Elgin. Always got a very good view into Broughty Athletic's ground travelling by Stagecoach though. How it is now is a huge transformation. Suspect the joint superleague concept may have mainly been how the SJFA would have got around any objection to a third north feeder rather than something that was ever hugely likely to happen in the absence of that for the reason you outline. Think it's more the Perth area clubs rather than Fife ones that might move over eventually if they ever start to struggle in the EoS down the road but looks like there are no easy answers for the Midlands League because all the most likely ones other than Newburgh maybe are doing well where they are at the moment.
  11. The "low energy Jeb" angle should make that difficult to get confused over.
  12. Guess at that point they have to pay a significant premium on wages to attract the players needed for a serious promotion push and that's what proved unsustainable so unless they find a sugar daddy they may have found their level at this point. The LL is going to be a much stronger division that it is now in another decade or so and the EoS premier is still a very reasonable standard not drastically far off League Two. Being outside the SPFL isn't the end of the world in other words. Think what has been noticeable is that none of the clubs that have been relegated through the Club 42 playoff have had their home support drift away to any huge extent.
  13. Really so different from a Tuesday night against Gartcairn or St Cadoc's? There again it's nouveau riche like that and Johnstone Burgh that probably will complicate a rebuild. More money to be made closer to Glasgow these days. That's more like it Scotland!
  14. Should have been obvious he was local councillor material at best when he tried to ban the hokey cokey at football games for sectarian reasons. Only a matter of time before someone that dense is going to wind up embarrassing a political party, but instead of kicking him out into the long grass in career progression terms, the SNP kept him in their Holyrood cabinet.
  15. The problem they have is what happens to a two division format if Lochee United get promoted or one of the smaller clubs drops out.
  16. If Saltcoats Vics go into abeyance at this point would they retain their membership for next season or would it go to a vote on whether they get back in or another club like Dumbarton St Pats get to join instead?
  17. Is it just my imagination or should the first goal have been disallowed for handball?
  18. Abortion rights is the issue that is boosting turnout among younger especially female voters in a way that's not good for Donald J. Having a few of his lawyers accepting plea deals in Georgia means his various court cases are unlikely to go well for him. At some point the penny might start to drop that he's running mainly to keep himself out of jail rather than to do anything positive for the average American voter.
