  1. Time will tell. If we can get the old Stevie May back then I'd say no. If we get the Aberdeen version then you're probably right.
  2. Sounds like Saints are going after Stevie May as our primary target and expecting that deal to be done. We can't afford to sign both him and Hemmings so Hemmings has to play second fiddle and gets offered a loan deal instead. Hemmings obviously will pick a permanent deal over a loan deal and picks Dundee. Stevie May talks then fall through again and Saints are left with nothing. Nobody. Nada. Proud to be a Saintee. Great days.
  3. See those buggers Alashkert are dishing out a hammering to Steaua Bucharest. Lost 3-0 at home. 3-1 up now away from home at half time. Steuau down to 10. Now 4-3 on agg with Alashkert needing 1 more goal to go through. Bust my coupon as well. My hate for the mighty Armenians has peaked.
  4. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4551855/stevie-may-aberdeen-europa-league-exit/amp?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter&__twitter_impression=true Right. Utterly infuriating. Any journalist that cracks this major secret is worthy of the Pulitzer prize in my opinion. Why did Stevie May's deal collapse? Stevie is shattered. Tommy devastated. Nobody prepared to say why. Someone has to have asked the people who know.
  5. They better not tire him out. He's got 90 mins of chasing shadows up front on his own at Parkhead on Saturday to keep fresh for.
  6. So I keep hearing the same line from Tommy that I just don't understand. "We knew we were going with a smaller squad this year but with better quality". Sorry Tommy, but what? We've brought in two squad players and being told we only have budget for a striker. It doesn't add up. Maybe Broon's realised we miss the wee diddy Dundee clubs and the only way to get our derbys back Is to get relegated.
  7. Not overly happy with Tommy's post match interview to be honest. I'm not sure throwing the younger players under the bus and blaming them for the two (three?) crap results is either constructive or fair. As a Manager surely it's better to blood younger players and judge them in settled teams? If you throw them in all at the same time with injuries and players playing out of position I'm not sure what he would expect.
  8. You know what - yes we have a small squad, yes we have a lack of striking options, yes we put out a slightly weakened team. However, there's still no excuse for losing twice to League 1 teams. The first time you can excuse but the second time you would expect a reaction. We're not seeing a reaction or the players hurting enough. We're not seeing enough organisation. Not acceptable and the manager needs to sort this out - it's his squad and his players. Even a second string Saints team should be beating League 1 teams - not disrespect at all to Forfar and Montrose. It's simply not good enough.
  9. Tommy saying the May deal is dead and he's disappointed and so is May. That suggests its either Broon or Vine taking the blame here. If we don't get an answer soon people rightly or wrongly make there own minds up and blame both.
  10. You know I've checked the Saints website twice today. That's what Saints have done to me - checking the actual official site that's never once been first to break a story. Once was bad enough but actually going back and checking again - must be desperate.
  11. Can't believe the the amount of abuse Brown, May and Vine are getting when not one single person on here know's what happened. Whatever happens, a few folk will have egg on their face.
  12. Whilst we're all desperate to know NOW what' s going on, look at how poorly the Turnbull saga reflected on Motherwell and Celtic by negotiating in public. Saints have always conducted their business in private. For as long as they say nothing in my head there is still a chance. Everything that's been in the press has been pure speculation. It's hard to just wait but I guess you need to put your faith in Broon that whatever decision is made he thinks its in the best interest of the club. Whilst it will be an absolute sickener if he turns out for St Mirren or Dundee I'm sure it will be for the manager/club too.
  13. Would be good to see this one put to bed one way or another. There really is no point in speculating though, we will find out soon in great detail what happened with this through our world class PR and communications team.
  14. I thought he did ok. He probably had more touches of the ball than anyone and was always the link man, moving the ball around simply. I also thought he tackled well when not in position and showed decent feet at times. You are right though when he tried to do something more adventurous with the ball he often misplaced his pass despite having a lot of time. Ill be honest and say in the limited amount if time I've seen him and McCann there is something I like a bit more about McCann. Little bit more dig/urgency about his game.
  15. I thought he was very good yesterday. Maybe an unpopular opinion but if you watch Swanson off the ball he works really really hard, always tracking back. What I think fans find difficult with him is when he has the ball he slows it up and looks a little pedestrian with it. What he's doing though is trying to draw defenders in so he can skip away and get past them. He doesn't have blinding pace where he can beat someone in a foot race for the ball so he's always looking to try and get a half yard but he needs the defender close to him for that. He plays with his head up and is always looking for a forward pass. The problem for Swanson is that if there are no runners and he slows down and gets tackled it looks like he's not trying/not fit/cumbersome/lazy. He's also one of those players who needs to play every week to keep 100% sharp - there are a few out there like that. I've got faith with a run of games we will see the real Danny Swanson - a goal will do him the world of good.
  16. I'll apologise when a big 6ft 5 international defender walks into McDiarmid park carrying Stevie May in one arm and any other random signing in the other. Then you'll get your apology.
  17. Hold the bus. We're getting Stevie May back AND SIGNING A FOREIGN PLAYER!!!!!! What is going on here? YAASSSS! * Post will be deleted if we don't actually sign either player.
  18. Also, the one stand idea also turned into a shambles. Went to go and buy my boy a Saints top before the game. Seen the queue was half way up the car park so decided to get it at the end. Then the queue for food was ridiculous so ditched that. Decided after watching that rubbish I couldn't be arsed buying the strip at the end. Moral of the story? Shiteness of the team and poor organisation of the match day creates apathy and will cost the club money. Today it cost them about £40 from me. Also seriously considering if I can be arsed on Wednesday. I'll wait and see if they buy a striker.
  19. No idea why my post in the Saints thread ended up in here - weird. To answer your question though, depends if the chairman gets his cheque book out. We need a central defender and 2 strikers. If not, we will be down there.
  20. So that was frustrating as hell. Yes, it's easy to criticise the players and some of them do deserve it. However, whilst I agree Swanson wasn't at his best his first chance was actually quite hard, it bounced up and he had to take it on the run. Not easy. I do think he should have shot earlier when through on goal but that Saints all over - not instinctive enough. Everything is so slow and mechanical. Anyway, the first 35 mins were good. Murray was pushing in behind, we totally dominated but when your players cant put a ball in an open goal what chance do you have? We have a real problem in the striking department. We should have been home and dry. On to the next major problem. Central defence. It's easy to blame Ando but Kerr was brutal today. He's always been an aggressive defender in that he likes to step in and get close but today he was like a puppy chasing a toy. That's not the first pen he's given away by getting way to close into the back of a defender and it wont be the last. Second goal neither defender covered themselves in glory. Too easy to slip a ball through them. Second half was so poor. We took off Spoony which I assume was because of the dead leg. I've always said we play better as a team with Spoony on, much better shape. When he went off we went chasing the game and got caught on the counter. Liam should have sat in front of the defence at that point covering Muzz chasing forward but instead it was a bit of a shambles. Last 20 mins was just a procession of us putting on strikers not good enough for this league. Would anyone be sad to see those 3 strikers leave? Lots to do but most of that needs to be in theboardroom and the managers office I'm afraid
  21. Agree with Kyle. Very harsh to be criticising a 20 year old right-back who's been chucked into a team struggling in pre-season. Let's see how he's doing by the end of the season.
  22. The big surprise for me is that with 60% of our players on the treatment table, Murray Davidson isn't one or them Strange goings on though. Worst injury crisis i can remember. Have we got a new super hot female physio or something?
  23. I somehow missed that nugget of information. Wow. Are turnstile operators volunteers or paid?
  24. Got my season ticket yesterday. Feels a wee bit on the flimsy side - will be amazed if I don't snap that before the end of the season. Great that Saints have finally gone digital though. I wonder if the decision to open only the main stand on Sunday is because all the new digital turnstiles are not ready? Are they still working on them? Seems nuts otherwise to close 3/4 of the stadium for a do or die game against a fellow premier league team thats included in the season tickets. Even give the fact that everyone can see the game far enough thanks to some sparkling PR from the management team I'd still expect 2,500 minimum at the game. Unless they hope to fill the main stand and film it from the East so the stadium looks packed?
