  1. It's an interesting point. For as much as Tommy has been very successful the football since the about 2016 has been absolutely woeful. We've struggled for goals and our style of football has not been remotely entertaining. I also travel up from Glasgow and you are right it's your whole day. I think I only go out of habit these days. I'm even becoming numb to defeats which is the most worrying thing. I used to be gutted for days. You can feel the apathy in the stands.
  2. 3 good quality goals but not a lot of quality elsewhere. The odd flash from an improving Wright, nice interplay on the left from Spoony but these moments all too rare. As often the case when we go 4-4-2 we skip the midfielders and batter it long. Unfortunately neither May and particularly the very very poor Kane have great link play. I'm amazed that we continue with Kane as our number 9. Particularly with a better quality striker warming the bench. Anyway, was worth it for the 3 goals and a wins a win in the cup!
  3. His Agent will have known his stock was high. The best price he'll get for himself and Matty will be in the window. Well worth waiting. I don't begrudge him it. Only Tommy will know what his character's like if he can trust him to perform for the next 4 months.
  4. Who's to say his agent wouldn't talk to us until then? The Agents have as much control as anyone. Until Tommy comes out and says the club didn't bother I'm not going to lose sleep over it. Too many players claim they want to stay then within weeks are away. It's all talk.
  5. If you forget the fact it's Berra for a second. Consider this. The team massively adrift at the bottom of the league are desperately trying to offload an error prone centre half on considerable wages. Concerns are being raised about his age, pace and injuries. Remind me again why we are interested?
  6. I'd rather we played Hendry to be honest. We've got a young striker with an eye for goal making appearances from the bench already. Arguably making more impact than Anderson. Anderson coming will only reduce his minutes on the pitch benefiting only him and Aberdeen.
  7. Nobody in their squad that's struggling for a game. Wouldn't massively be surprised if we were interested in Main or Wright but neither inspiring.
  8. Going to be contentious here but if Matty goes and we play Spoony at left wing every game between now and the end of the season I'd be confident he'd contribute more goals/assists than Kennedy has. Matty is a class act but we rely far too much on him and teams know it. More and more we're seeing them double up on him making it difficult for him to influence games.
  9. Looking increasingly like Matty will be away this month. As though this shitey season couldn't get any worse. Maybe opens the door again for Danny?
  10. Swiftly followed by Tommy loaning out Hendry to the Championship. I can only imagine the reaction....
  11. I'm sure we all appreciate Kane's workrate and his ability to run the line and win free kicks but we have to be realistic. He's very limited. Poor in the air, poor hold up play, very poor touch and almost no goal threat. I like honest players but I find watching him very frustrating.
  12. I’m not so sure our delivery has been poor this season. I think it’s a simple as not having a striker able to make the most of it. We have a squad full of wingers but the vast majority of the time we have an isolated striker in the box. Normally Kane, occasionally May. Neither of these guys are going to step off then out jump a defender like Hendry did today. His movement was terrific. We can fire crosses in all day every day but Kane isn’t going to put them away. He’s not that type of striker. If we want to get goals out of Kane or May we can’t rely on Kennedy or Wright putting balls on their heads. Or we play Hendry and play to the strengths of our team.
  13. I keep hearing this and I've even said it myself but he's not exactly had a run in the team from the start to make this assertion. He's had the odd game here and there. In actual fact, he's only played 310 minutes in the league this season, scoring 4 goals. He got over 200 mins in the league cup and 2 starts in the 4 games scoring 1 and admittedly was poor but the whole team were brutal. I'm not sure we can confidently day he can't affect games from the start if he's only started 1 league game this season. In that game he put Mikey through 1:1 so arguably could have assisted the winner.
  14. Frustrating. Played very well today, particularly second half. Midfield dominated and for once we created some good opportunities. Kane played well and had good hold up play however Hendry proved yet again its possible to do both. His pass to create the Kennedy chance with the outside of his boot was terrific, won several flick ons and his header was outstanding. He's a real talent. Hard to take County getting anything out the game given their approach. Their goal was the thing that annoyed me most though. A good keeper deals with a ball that spends that amount of time in the air. Very poor. I do wonder if we'd gone 4-4-2 from then start if we'd have walked all over them. They were absolutely rotten.
  15. Solid enough and plenty of possession and ok build up play but we could play all year and not score. Familiar story. Should have had a pen though.
  16. Watching the game back - what on earth did Spoony get a yellow for at the end? He never even committed the foul.
  17. Whilst them going to 5 in midfield helped, us matching their 4-4-2 would have made a massive difference earlier on. If you play Holt, McCann and Davidson one of them absolutely has to get up and support. Instead we had Holt and McCann dropping in to get the ball from the defenders and then a 40 yard gap to Stevie May. When Aberdeen were pumping it long all day why have 3 central mids in there looking up at the Sky?
  18. That was the same as most Saints games I've seen this season. 4-5-1 leaving the striker isolated and us not mustering a single shot. Midfielders not getting close to the striker and if anything closing down their own defenders who were trying to move the ball into midfield. 65 minutes of that pish and Tommy finally makes the call to go 4-4-2. Miraculously, we start playing better. It's not rocket science but one thing for me is clear. Tommy has lost it - he doesn't seem to have a clue what he's doing anymore. He will always be a legend but the last 12 months he's made more mistakes than most managers would get away with.
  19. The pressure of being bottom of the league means it's hard to see positives. There's nothing between us and 9 of the other teams in the league. If we improve by 5% we'll be fine. A clean sheet would make a bloody huge difference though. We're starting every game down.
  20. A lot of the goals Zander has conceded I've thought to myself could he have saved that? Not glaring errors but I often wonder if a better keeper makes the save. I always felt the same with Cuthbert when he was at Saints. Enkelman was a wonderful goalie, totally underrated.
  21. Tanser wins most of his defensive headers, he's quite aggressive in the air. If we're looking for defensive weak links it's not at left back.
  22. Based on 3 games? That's all you get to settle into a new team? I'm sure there are loads of players who had a poor start to a career at Saints and came good.
  23. I pick and choose my away games but generally go to Motherwell, Hamilton, St Mirren and Dundee. Dundee aside I've barely enjoyed a game home or away for god knows how long. Its absolutely eye bleeding stuff at times at home but it all stems from the lack of balance in the squad. He's bought so many wingers he needs to justify playing them hence 1 up top all the bloody time. Its utterly utterly infuriating.
