  1. Not many positives from that. Certainly better when May and Spoony came on but still not great. Kane has his place (away from home against better teams) but we surely need to be looking at better players than Kane up top if we want to improve out status as the lowest scorers in the league. Feels like a lot of square pegs in round holes to fit this 3-5-2. Is it worth it?
  2. Other than criminally underselling our best players - good to know the club had zero backup plan to replace them other than a couple of loans. The absolute state of our squad is bordering incompetence. Keep trying to get some perspective on this but it genuinely is embarrassing.
  3. Can't grumble with that. Kerr, Mccart and McCann showing they can easily play at this level.
  4. Davidson seemed pretty confident he'd have two bodies in for this game. Wonder who the second was and what happened? I don't mind waiting for Eetu, looks worth it given potential etc and the fact we need to deal with covid and brexit. Would still like to see Middleton back.
  5. Nice to be back at McDiarmid today. Forgot how good the pies were! Football wise not much to talk about really but you can't read too much into friendlies. Felt the pitch was sticky and the passing either too short or way too long. Not nice on the eye. Muzz, Spoony and also Ballentyne looked good though. I worry a bit about goals in the team. Spoony gives us the spark and guile but otherwise we're a little one dimensional at times. If we lose Rooney I don't think Brown will give us an attacking presence up the right in the same way. Devine looks like he could be a decent player though. Would like to see Middleton back. Anyway, worth going along for the pies, seeing the cups and the brilliant news about the Galatasary game. Biggest cheer of the day.
  6. So Davidson was keen to get 2 players on board this week. Haven't heard any rumours at all. So who do we think? Hopefully one is Middleton. Wouldn't mind another Striker joining either.
  7. So with Melamed and Middleton moving on Davidson has a challenge to get goals into the team again. So what's our options? If we play a 3-4-1-2 then our stick on midfielder and forward line is likely: Booth Craig McCann Rooney Spoony Kane May/Hendry Being honest, there isn't a lot of goals in that team. There is a big importance on getting close to double figures from at least 4 of those in order to have a decent season. If we go with 2-1 up top then we bring in MOH instead of May/Hendry. I think our best chance of success is with a bigger player up top as we tend for get a large number of crosses in so wouldn't object to a target man with good hold up play.
  8. They are. Difficult watching some of the shite that pull on a Scotland shirt when these 3 boys play like it's a world Cup final every week with their performances. Big Gordon has turned into Matthäus with his through balls as well, another string to his bow and another goal created.
  9. No matter how bad Saints play this season there are 2 reasons we can win any game. 1. Our 3 central defenders are outstanding every single week. 2. Guy Melamed needs only 1 chance To score. Clinical. Get right in the hat.
  10. Eye bleeding football from both teams but some superb defending on show. Our back 3, Kerr particularly were almost imperious and when they did slip up once we had the likes of Liam Craig in their tidying up. Credit also to MOH for his second half performance. Only other point to note is that Liam Craig is a legend. 3 games in 6 days at his age and absolutely bossed every one of them. What a goal.
  11. Did anyone really think Chris Kane would turn around his fortunes at Saints and start putting in these type of performances? I absolutely love being proved wrong - delighted for him as he's taken soo much stick in recent years. Absolute respect. I wonder what's changed?
  12. I also don't buy into this unbeaten run nonsense - you end up settling for draws which are killing us this season. I'd rather win every second game and lose the other, we'd be miles better off.
  13. A point isn't a disaster and the defence is looking really confident. However, do we not have to try to be more adventurous at home? Kane up against 3 big defenders and having balls shelled at him isn't going to work. You have to admire him though, he never seems to let his head go down. As for the rest. Mikey doesn't suit a front 3. Bryson doesn't have the drive to get us forward in that Middle two and Conway seems to always be in reverse when he gets in good areas. We were noticeably better when Spoony came on given his ability to get it down and dribble. If we do insist on this formation at home I'd prefer 2 of the front three were strikers. Feel for Melamed
  14. Whilst it's been nice at times to watch Saints knock the ball around and play good football can we just get back to having 4% possession, throwing bodies at everything and everyone and shitfesting a 1-0 win in the 89th minute leaving 30 pages of seethe by opposition fans on the P&B match day thread? I miss that.
  15. He put an absolutely wicked ball right on May's head that only needed a tiny touch.
  16. Whilst Kane deserves criticism for his goalscoring it's only fair to call out how improved his link play is. You can see the McLean coaching influence. He just needs to add goals (like the rest of the team).
  17. One of the things that's been bugging me all season is the number of times we get into a great position in the wide areas and we have absolutely nobody or just Kane in the box. Now unless you're Bayern Munich you're going to struggle to convert from there. Are the players scared to commit and overload the box because the shape means we are so vulnerable to the counter attack? The Hamilton game earlier in the season was the only game we overloaded the box (and scored 5) and it ended up a hockey score. Has Davidson seen that and told them to be more conservative? It's bizarre we can't get a balance.
  18. We are creating chances in the right areas for the wrong people. Kane/May can't head a ball. Booth can't shoot with either foot. May needs to be in the 6 yard box but is trying to score from 20+ yards as he's playing wide or deep. We are playing percentage football by pumping crosses into the box with one striker and the percentages aren't working for us.
  19. Kane had a shot on target and at least one other shot trundled into the goalies arms (one from booth and one from McNamara).
  20. That was absolutely garbage. Quite rightly in the relegation fight now, Davidson coming across as arrogant with his persistent use of a formation that's failing to produce goals. For all the good play at times our composure and shooting ability is as bad as you'll see anywhere.
  21. That Conway for May substitution, fucking hell. May might not have had his shooting boots on but was making good runs and creating.
  22. The problem with this back 5 is that we lose someone that sits in that MASSIVE hole in front of our 3 flat footed centre halves. Everyone can see it.
  23. That will teach me to go get a beer. Should have got 5.
