  1. Hope Banks does well, and the club accrues further cash from add-ons. Regarding those hoping he falls on his arse, this as a lesson to other young players, I doubt it would be. Plenty have gone south and failed in a sporting sense, but their bank balance hasn't suffered.
  2. Fuckin delete your account Just being practical. And I'd rather watch us against Dundee than Hamilton/Livingston/Kilmarnock and so on.
  3. Boy with his arm in the air might be Ian Sneddon, while the blurry guy to his left, our right, looks a bit like Eddie Thomson who went on the manage Australia in later years. Hearts fans will have a better idea.
  4. Shotts Bon Accord v Pumpherston the 1958 Junior Cup Final, 33,000 crowd at Hampden.
  5. I know a few Dundee fans who would want us up if they were walking away with the league, for the atmosphere and finance. It might not be a popular view, but it's practical and sensible.
  6. The four teams behind United meet up at the weekend, not that it matters to us too much. The Pars have lost quite a few in a row, and I hope Dundee can win, and Ayr win at home to ICT. Mostly to give Dundee a better chance of second, because I'd be happier with them coming up in the play-offs to resume the top league derbies next season.
  7. I'll agree about McMullan today, but he's hardly been poor for a 'few weeks again' as he's been out injured for the last few weeks. Powers has had three games in Scotland: I've seen them all. I'll be pleased if he turns out to be an asset, but I'm not seeing it yet.
  8. Powers looks cumbersome, and a bit overweight. Maybe just very solid, but not seeing much about him.
  9. Hibernian must be less than happy with a draw, Martin Boyle was player of the match for me. Very good goals in the second half, pleased to get a replay.
  10. Hibs have been the better side, United's distribution is woeful, got to be pleased to get back level there. Siegrist and Shankland the only players getting pass marks so far.
  11. Be very surprised to see Pawlett lasting much of the match. Demoting Glass is a mistake.
  12. United badly messed up, imo, by putting upper tier tickets at the same price as lower tier, and also charging £22 for a match live on television on a Sunday.
  13. Any information happily received on this picture, from the early 60s. The players closest to the ball are Bobby Carroll and Mike Sutton, dad of John and Chris, at St Mirren Park in a match between the hosts and Norwich City. Pitch looks very dry, was it a pre-season friendly?
  14. Plenty signings in season 2015-16 confused me, I thought Florent Sinama Pongolle, Adam Taggart, Riku Riski, Ryan McGowan and Billy McKay would do very well. None of them did at Tannadice, although Riski has done well on his return to Finland. But the biggest disappointment, who I thought, or maybe just hoped, would be our saviour was Eiji Kawashima. He seemed a very poor goalkeeper, yet continued to play for Japan, appearing in the 2018 World Cup Finals and was appointed captain for a time. And went on to play in France's Ligue 1 for Metz and Strasbourg.
  15. Sow made his reputation in the Scottish Championship: he didn't score many in his 6 months in the Premiership, and did very little after leaving Hearts of note. I think both Reynolds and Connolly have made a positive impression off the pitch, but have been disappointed with quite a few of their on field performances. The record this season though maybe indicates they are better than I rate them.
  16. The original point I was making covered the argument that Neilson had made more good signings than bad. I disagree. I will readily concede he's a better manager than McKinnon or Laszlo and several before them. To add to your list, Clark has shown he has more about him under Neilson as well.
  17. To an extent, I was posting to see the views of other United fans, however I acknowledge the defence has been tighter with Reynolds and Connolly in terms of goals conceded. However, I'd argue that Watson is more reliable at this level as a central defender than both, who are prone to daft errors. As an example, Reynolds on Saturday had a moment where he decided to try to play out of defence with the ball at his feet, leading to Thistle's goal. And the lack of goals against might be down to the quality of opposition. I missed out Troy Brown from my list, another poor Neilson signing: Connolly and Reynolds are more dependable than him. Pawlett is certainly a good footballer, but my point was he isn't consistently reliable, and it's surely accepted that we cannot rely on him as things stand. He'll have to prove his fitness and worth. Sporle is definitely a prospect, and I'd lean towards him proving a success in future, but he too hasn't yet shown consistency. Possibly where I have doubts about Neislon's signing record is where he has gone for players he should know very well (Adam King, Osman Sow, Aidan Nesbitt, Peter Pawlett), yet they have not been great successes.
  18. Not convinced by that he has GD. Only Butcher, Harkes, Shankland and Liam Smith have, to me, been consistently reliable. Freeman and Powers may prove good signings, but on my doubtful list are Connolly, Nesbitt, Pawlett, Reynolds, (Seaman), Cammy Smith, Sow, A. King and Sporle. I've maybe missed some players out too.
  19. Using your original argument and the Dele Calculator, 33% is more than 58%, making McPake a better manager than John Robertson. It indicates you post simply to boost your post count for reasons important to yourself. Even a simpleton like you must see your case is illogical.
  20. Since you are trying to be clever using statistics, in the league Robbo has won 6 points and McPake 1 in games between their clubs. So that's 6-1. And Robbo has ICT 6 points ahead of Dundee with a goal difference which is superior by 9. In every way, McPake is inferior by far in comparison to the ICT boss. It appears it's Dundee who have low standards, and by extension some of their supporters like you, who do your club no favours by sticking up for a failure of a manager.
  21. That's right, a win, a draw, and most recently two defeats, indicating Robbo has the measure of McPake.
  22. I want you second and up in the play-off. Rather have games v Dundee than Hamilton or ICT. But it doesn't look like McPake has the measure of John Robertson.
