You won't get any argument from me that 1) I don't think Martin is a good enough keeper for us and 2) we should be turning over the squad where we can. My whole point for this Hogarth deal is that there are 2 key factors in whether it's a good idea or not. Those are how much the loan is costing us, and how long Morrison is out for. For example, if the choice is Martin for eg 4 games before PJ is back and a new midfielder for 4 months, or Hogarth starting for 4 games before PJ is back and Hetherington for 4 months then I think it's a net negative. If it's Hogarth for next to nothing plus a new midfielder still being a possibility then it's a positive signing.

Depends on how much we're paying for Hogarth. If it's a freebie then might as well rush it through. If we're paying out and can't afford a midfielder as a result, then it may have been more prudent to hold off for a couple of days and soldier on with Martin for a few games if it's less bad of an injury than initially feared.

Petty Things That Get On Your Nerves...
Marshmallo replied to well fan for life's topic in The General Nonsense Forum
The ads on The Pie And Bovril Forum making the mobile site page jump, accidentally causing me to briefly change my Ignore List settings for a poster I've had on my Ignore List for 3+ years. I was able to resolve it within 30 seconds but it was a Petty Thing and it Got On My Nerves. -
My reading of this "Premier hospitality" is you pay £1,500 and get to cosplay as a director at home matches. Is that a fair summary?

The top 5 or 6 in the league will be tightly packed and I'd include both us and Montrose in that group. They're well coached and organised and have good experienced heads through the spine of their side. They finished miles ahead of last season and beat us 3-0 with ease at TFS in the final quarter. They've had minimal turnover and added a quality striker in MacAllister and today was very evenly matched rather than the procession we saw against them last season under that goofball Rennie. We're still short of about 4 players in terms of being favourites to win the league but we will be top 4 due to improved defence, organisation and a proper leader in McGinn in the middle of the park. At a bare minimum we need more creativity in midfield. Kennedy should help with that when he's back fit but still feel we'll need more on top of that. Nesbitt is all style over substance for me, some nice touches but his end product is abysmal. Morrison is hugely frustrating. Much improved from the shambles of the last 18 months or so but still a lot of room to improve. Tough game next week but interesting to see how we compete. I'd also say Clyde never laid a glove on us last week and they've horsed QoS today.

Annan at Stranraer looks like the best bet of the weekend at 7/5. Their respective League Cup campaigns speak for themselves. I'd imagine by the time the second fixture between these two rolls around Annan will comfortably be odds on.

That's essentially what Group Chat General Nonsense is like these days, across almost every thread in this Sub-Forum. This thread has been excellent thus far but by midday on Monday you can bet your bottom dollar the Mullarkeys of this world will have taken over.

"Glorified barn" to describe a certain type of 'pub' is a great turn of phrase. Paints a perfect picture in my mind's eye. I use it most weekends when arranging days out on the terraces and nights out on the town with my pals (eg "am no going to a glorified barn if a kin avoid it"). Thank you @VT for that one, and for all you do generally for The Forum.

As we're all too aware, some posts (and posters) on The Pie And Bovril Forum are better than others. In my time on The Forum I've seen a huge array of contributions across various Sub-Forums and Topics. In order to highlight the best of The Forum I thought it would be good to have a thread dedicated to great turns of phrase you've seen which have either made you smile, made you think, made you cry, or even bled into your Offline discussions with friends, family and colleagues. Some examples of great turns of phrase that stick in my head from The Pie And Bovril Scottish Football Forum are: - "I wear GANT polo shirts around the house"; I believe this phrase was first coined by Lexi Collector. I howled with laughter when I first read it and I'm still smirking now as I type this out. It's one I've borrowed and drop into every day conversation on a regular basis eg down the pub, in coffee catch ups or even on holiday. - "I have a five figure income"; one from the great PearBuyerBell. At first this read to me like he was bragging but when I inspected it more closely I got the humour in the post for which he was so renowned. I sent this exact phrase to one of my best mates in a WhatsApp message earlier today and got a couple of these () back. An all timer as far as I'm concerned. - "I have a bad feeling about this. 2-0 to [insert opposition]"; this has almost become a catchphrase of sorts from @TheScarf. Great poster, great phrasing. I've said this to the lads I go to Falkirk games with on a regular basis before most of our matches over the last few years, and more often than not I've been correct. Credit to @TheScarf for this one as it makes me smile.

I saw this on Twitter a couple of weeks ago. Puts things into perspective for people saying "Al notice it tae!" when they choose to switch from Lurpak to Tesco own brand butter or turn their heating down from 22 to 20 over the winter.
