  1. Due to the myriad of employment laws no company could enforce a vaccination to work policy. As for the outright refusers you would only hope that there is enough uptake In the rest of the population. We should not have restrictions in everyday life to protect people who refuse the vaccine once they have been offered it.
  2. But if you have vaccinated the people most likely to require hospitalation (majority but not exclusively older people) then the numbers of hospital admissions should not rise nearly as much which will then have a knock on effect on ICU and ultimately death figures
  3. You know what? I would really hope to lose that bet as that is what should be done but nearly everyone but the most die hard of SNP fanboys knows that the figures they are giving out are at it and they should be doing so much more. As previous we have over 300k sitting about but only 16k used yesterday as we are scared incase we run out. Bullshit put into folks arms so the two weeks period can start to build the protection and then you can whinge to the UK government you need more
  4. due to you seemingly believing everything the NS says at the moment, would you consider a wee £10 charity bet as i don't think there is a hope they will meet the 1.4m people (not vaccines) done by the 28 February
  5. your living in a fantasy land if you think that the schools will not open again until your criteria above have been met , as stated the schools will be the first thing to reopen and if the government can prove it is in control through vaccination numbers and ICU capacity (irrespective of the number of cases per day) then they should and will be opened
  6. As a lot of people on here have been calling for restrictions to be eased once the all the targeted priority groups have been vaccinated, please tell me when you think it will be safe to open he schools again.
  7. What I don't get is that they have always said that any changes take about 2 weeks to show any results. However we went into lockdown on boxing Day then a week and a bit later it was strengthened and now 4 days later they are looking to tighten even more so this would be 3 increases in the severity of the lockdown before one of there review periods and we still don't know if the first measures have had an effect
  8. With the 578 cases reported today it brings the 7 day average in Scotland to the lowest figure since 06 October and the % positive to near enough below the 5% target set by the WHO to say it is under control. that would suggest that the people of Scotland have followed the requirements set out by the Scottish government in order to contain the spread and how will be rewarded? A telling off about a new strain and possibly another lockdown. Merry f**king christmas.
  9. Is this at the total exclusion to teachers or as well as ? Tracing staff at least down here speak to both. Problem reported here is your "school hater" types giving all their like minded mates as close contacts in an attempt to get them all off at the same time as opposed to not dobbing folk in. The reason they are being asked is so that if they are contacted by the NHS tracers they they don't spend an hour humming and hawing as they have already had a thought about it and written down the info as to who they have been with. The contact tracers don't worry about how many people they have met outside or if they have broken the guidelines they just want the correct info as quickly as possible so they can trace all their contacts
  10. On the Christmas thing, I think what you will see is the 4 nation approach will be broken up with Boris keeping the current plan for England but the FM will either reduce the number of days from 5 to say 2 or reduced the household from 3 to 1 or any combination of the both. No government will what to be see to cancel Christmas altogether as it be political suicide and especially with the Scottish elections in May
  11. The EIS union who are campaigning for the schools to be shut just now would go apoplectic if there was a suggestion of the teachers holidays being moved to help to provide cover for other times.
  12. I agree that the schools should either close or some form of remote learning from next Friday and not start again until possibly Monday 11th. However my opinion of the standard of remote learning in march was poor which was maybe down to the quick nature of the closures but there was no online learning of visual lessons for either of my kids in Fife, It might be different for future cases but not hopeful
  13. Those 5 weeks are always there though and have been factored in to the curriculum Do you want the teachers to work through all the holidays to catch up as I think they deserve it and don't begrudge them time off?
  14. I believe it is a life skill you don't have agree but it is my opinion As for your second point I don't believe there is six months of slack in the secondary school curriculum to deliver it fully. However I am not a teacher so would like to hear their opinion.
  15. Ok I get your point about sensationalism but for remote teaching how do you ensure that ever child has the access to this the remote learning. In my own case my two are fine as the have phones, tablets with access to the internet but this is not the case for all. How would make sure everyone has access and noone will be missed?
  16. I am going from a personal perspective where my youngest has been diagnosed with dyslexia, It only now he is back and pre pandemic reading levels with a lot of support from his teacher who is fantastic with him and is now further behind his class than he was. Are you saying that children not being educated fully will have no effect on there futures? or that missing half a year of the curriculum is fine and not have the full understanding of their subjects will not be a disadvantage? There is already going to be a year group that will be leaving school without sitting a formal examination which is a life skill that needs to be learned. Edit to add - we will not see if this has affected the education properly until the first set of examinations to see the increase / decrease in attainment levels
  17. Thanks you have proved that Wales are riddled with the virus and therefore should be closing everything. Scotland is nowhere near that so we shouldn't jump the gun and ruin our children's futures.
  18. So the sensationalism of the 3 times higher rate for teachers us complete nonsense. Every workplace is susceptible to virus transmission and Scotgov has published a paper saying that the transmission rates in schools is at an acceptable level. The rate of transmission in Scotland is stable at the moment whereas in Wales is is significantly higher and rising in general and that is why there schools are closing. There is no doubt that some schools have to go to remote learning due to teacher absence (positive or isolating) however this should not be a blanket response as children need education as thier future should not be screwed because of this pandemic. They have already missed 6 months of learning as the work from home stuff was a joke in the early stages, so let them remain in class while they can.
  19. Sorry but you said the stats show so please show the stats and not a discussion for a union that clearly has a stake in this. Once again please provide link to independent evidence to back up this claim ( I wil accept PHE England or Scotland) as I have not once saw any study that breaks down infections to occupation.
  20. That is worrying information can you provide the links to the stats?
  21. Plans form the SRU to let 5,000 into Murray field on Jan 2nd and increase to 25,000 for the six Nations. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/55113775 If this goes ahead then there can be no objections to any request from football clubs.
  22. What will be worse is the stories following the 90 year old getting the vaccine and then passing away naturally days or weeks later with no signs of covid. All the moon howlers will be proclaiming that the vaccine kills people and it to take it
  23. These millions are now entitled to furlough and the businesses are getting grants until the end of March when hopefully the vaccine is starting to take effect and the can open back up fully.
